if this really happens it is a waste of money and time. as much as i love this guy, we have replaced him very well and i think he was become much worse over the time he has been in new england. plus i just dont like him because i bought his jersey and the next week he got cut.

That article was just speculation, it's not something the team is likely pursuing. The only reasons why it'd make sense is because Dean Pees, the new LB coach, had previously coached AD in New England, plus AD also got his start here in Baltimore.

However, given how AD burned his bridges in the media and how he's not particularly close to any of the guys currently on the team, he's more likely to go to the Jets; he'll play his old team twice a year while reuniting with Rex Ryan, who developed AD into the versatile weapon he eventually became. Also, the Ravens have no interest in acquiring any more veteran LBs, especially with so many younger guys on the depth chart to develop under Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs and Jarret Johnson.

i would bring him back to be our coverage linebacker but we have Ayanbadejo at that and Thomas isnt a good pass rusher anymore. So i will pass on him. Plus i dont think Ray and he are on the best of terms after how AD left.

It's not even the system, it's just that AD isn't the same LB he used to be. The reason why he was so great in Baltimore was because of the mix of talent around him. This is a guy who played on the same unit as Peter Boulware, Terrell Suggs, Bart Scott, Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Chris McAlister, Jarret Johnson, Samari Rolle, Kelly Gregg, and Ma'ake Kemoeatu at the same time in 2005. In addition to most of those guys, he also played with Haloti Ngata, Dawan Landry, and a rejuvenated Trevor Pryce in 2006. The right mix of talent made AD shine and made that defense work, scheme or no scheme.

AD's gotten older and his legs haven't gotten any fresher. Age and injuries are catching up to him. There's no use for him here in Baltimore, and to an extent, I doubt there'll be much use for him with the Jets. People will praise the Jets for picking him up, and though I expect AD to get off to a fast start, I expect Father Time to catch up with him by season's end. He's on the wrong side of 30 (he'll be 33 at the start of the 2010 season), and he's already been benched for performance reasons. Though some will say it was a psychological tactic by Bill Belichick, Belichick's a great evaluator of talent and probably knows that AD's past his prime and is on the decline before other teams have realized it.

We need to get younger and faster as we look to the future. A.D. does not fit into the big picture. As for the Jet's, his nasty split from the Ravens, and his recent actions in N.E. would suggest to me he is a good "personality" fit for Rex. Not for coach Harbaugh, and the younger players on our team.

He's not coming back.

But really we don't even need him, we have Suggs and J.J plus new talent like Ellerbe. I highly doubt he's coming back to Baltimore, however he would be a great fit in New York.

Honestly, i see the Jets pursuing him and the drafting a DE. Rex is trying to make a good D, so why not bring AD?

I dont know if AD doesnt know how to pass rush anymore, in 2008 he had 6 sacks in 10 weeks. That would have been tied for the lead on our team in about 3/5's of the season(?). 2009 Belichick or Pees, whomever you want to claim as the Pats DC, largely mixed up their schemes to give out more 4-3 looks, especially when Wilfork was banged up and that moved AD to OLB in the 4-3 and the Pats almost never blitzed out of that on 1st and 2nd down and long. I would be hard pressed to say that AD couldnt rack up around 8 or 9 sacks in a more tradition 3-4, but since we dont play that either, AD is basically useless to our scheme considering his talents. If this was Rex or Nolan running the D, I would almost certainly advocate bringing AD back.

The underlining factor in all this however is this, Ray hates this man with a passion. Ray's gone on record saying he helps other players around the league when they are struggling because thats what Ray does, he helps guys he respects around the league and most definitely friends. Ray stated in an article when AD was being benched and sent home in NE, that he didnt call to offer advice, nor would he to AD. Ray dislikes this man I think as much as anyone in the league.

He destroyed any chance of coming back to Baltimore, when he called Ray and the defense out in 2007.
