Any Chance The Ravens Will Draft A Kicker ? ...

16 posts in this topic

Further down of course ... ?? Or just pick one up ? I like Cundiff and I think he should stay .. but maybe split the job with someone else. I heard there are some good kickers in college, anyone know any names ?

Theres a 2% chance they will draft one. With so many kickers probably being let go after a horrible kicking season, shouldnt be hard to pick one up if Cundiff doesnt work out.

Having had consistency with Matt Stover for so long, we've taken the value of a good kicker for granted here in Baltimore. That's not to say that Stover should've necessarily been brought back (let's not start that topic again), but it remains to be seen if we've got a consistent enough kicker in Billy Cundiff. The wrong move wasn't in releasing Stover, but in choosing Steve Hauschka as Stover's replacement.

Ya after seeing so many kickers this year just do horrible, Haushkha, Cowboys kicker Nick Folk, Redskin's kicker Suisham, I'm glad we have Billy Cundiff. I think hes been very productive and a few of his misses werent his fault. He can also make the long field goals that Stover struggles with.

never waste a draft pick on a kicker. Just use free agency they are always available. I think we should retain cundiff he wasn't bad at all. Maybe bring Matt back since the (Great)..lol, Peyton Manning is mad at him about the 51 yard field goal he missed....lol.

Cundiff is fine, until he chokes and misses a FG against the Browns.

Is that a shot at Cundiff or Hauschka? Because Cundiff didn't play against the Browns this season...

Care to explain yourself?

He played for the Browns earlier in the season before we picked him up.

Yeah, and he was 6 for 6 with them. So what was your point?

If I were a GM, one of my top rules of drafting would definitely be to never draft a kicker. The bust rate is through the roof (Mike Nugent being the best example I can think of), and a team can get a solid 75-80% kicker through free agency at any time. If a team wants a legitimate, long term kicker, they should look at the rookie free agents. Quite a few of the best kickers in the game were rookie free agents at one point. Drafting a kicker is just a waste of a pick. The same goes for punters. That having been said, I'd like to see some competition for Cundiff this year.

I know this. It is irrelevant, because I was responding to Simba:

Are you serious? You guys need to read instead of trying to respond to posts without any context. My point is beyond clear; Cundiff didn't kick against the Browns, so he couldn't have choked and missed a FG against them. The fact that he played for the Browns is not only irrelevant, but supports Cundiff because he was 6 for 6 with them.

READ so people don't have to waste time explaining simple discussions to you.
