Pacman Jones Works Out For Cincy?
Filed to ESPN: Adam "Pacman" Jones worked out for the Bengals in Cincinnati today. HC Marvin Lewis always a big believer in 2nd/3rd chances.
Looks like Cincinnati is serious about giving second chances once again to former problem children in the NFL. Aside from their own set of questionable characters, they took a chance on Cedric Benson and it paid off. Larry Johnson? Not so much (yet). We'll see where this one goes, but there's not much that Marvin Lewis should expect from a guy who's been out of football for a year, almost two years if you count his 2008 season as a hiatus given how little he played.

Pacman Jones had all the potential in the world and he threw it all away just because he wanted to be a knucklehead. If Marvin Lewis wants him, fine. I just don't think Lewis will get every ounce out of Pacman like he got out of Benson.

not to mention they've worked out Matt Jones and Donte Stallworth, too... looks like they aren't too concerned with image as long as they win games.

People might disagree, but I wouldn't mind seeing this guy come to the Ravens. He could be the 7 week replacement for Webb. If he is really a changed man, and is serious, he can compete with Foxworth. If not, we could release him.

This would help us focus on other positions in the draft.

Pacman's done nothing to show that he can stay on the field, both health-wise and behaviorally. This is a guy who got into a fistfight with his own bodyguard. He was also stupid enough to initially deny that he was at a strip club after he was just filmed showing off in front of a video camera. This is also a guy who blew a shot at playing in the CFL after he literally just agreed to a deal in principle only a day earlier.

I mean, people will always try to make the argument for talent over character, but this is a case where the character issues grossly exceed the talent factor by such a wide margin, to where it's impossible to make any distinctions when his character has adversely affected his on-field play (or lack thereof) in his career.

Exactly, and performance-wise. I still dont understand why Pacman gets a lot of media attention.

Anyway, as the Bengals were starting to refresh their image, they are starting to screw up again.

oh and my favorite, stopping by at a strip club to pick up some food on his way to meet with Roger Goodell about his off field issues!!

I guess the Bengals are trying to create a character rehabilitation center for troubled young athletes
