Giants Release LB Antonio Pierce

6 posts in this topic

The New York Giants are expected to release 10-year veteran LB Antonio Pierce today. The team's defensive captain was an undrafted free agent who got his start with the Redskins in 2001 before signing with the Giants in 2005.

Pierce confirmed his release in an email to the press, with the Giants expected to officially announce the transaction later today.

This looks to be the first of what could be many cap casualties in 2010; though measures are put in place to prevent cap-dumping, there are many older veterans who could be on the cutting board as well as younger players who see new locales via trade.

Wow, I bet he goes to the Redskins, maybe Eagles.

I wouldn't put it pass Danny boy to over pay for 30 something linebacker. This does tell us one thing about the draft, the Giants are going to draft Brandon Spikes, they don't cut Pierce if they don't plan on getting a young replacement, Spikes will become a Giant.

Time to start taking the Madden Rosters and making it for next years roster until Madden 11 comes out.

That's very unlikely,he had a neck injury and like Reed could be considering retirement.

Yea, there is something we dont know about him. I bet the Giants are also considering doing some rebuilding this year after last year's fall off.
