It's about time IMO. I mean seriously, the rule is put in because if him and he continually does it game after game. The suspension was very warranted and needed.

all i have to say about this is....its about time he's being punished for his wrongful tackles....but it seems like he should get more than just 1 game out due to the severity of the "horse collar Tackle"....

Yeah, he could put an eye out with those things.

He horse collared Musa a couple years ago and broke his leg--happened right in front of me.

On Nov. 21, 2004, Williams took out Baltimore running backs Jamal Lewis and Musa Smith with the horse-collar tackles. Lewis suffered a sprained ankle and Smith a compound fracture of the right tibia. It ended Smith's season.

I like a player that plays hard, but he is dangerous.

I remember that horse-collar on Musa...

My parents and I CRINGED when we were watching that, and my parents aren't even Ravens fans, they were just watching the game with me...

My mom said it reminded her a lot of that Joe Theismann incident on MNF when (the original) L.T. accidentally mangled his leg and twisted it in at a sharp angle like it was a piece of rubber or silly putty...

Of course, it wasn't as bad as Theismann's injury, but the way Musa's leg bounced off the turf like it was, well, silly putty was ridiculously grotesque and almost brought a tear to my mom's eye. So yea, it was THAT serious...

the ironic thing here is he's going to fight the suspension handed down too him, on what grounds? he doesn't have a foot to stand on....this is actually a very dirty way of tackling a player.....

yea!...i mean i cant see any ground where he can back on because he has made the tackle...not once, not twice, not three times....but four or more times!.....rediculous to think he would even consider the thought of appealing

Well, seeing as how the NFL upheld the ruling of his suspension, looks like the appeal was for naught, after all.

Just thinking of all the possible scenarios as to how a horse collar could be performed, there is no conceivable way to defend or justify such a tackle, really.

Even if he said he slipped, what was his hand doing there in the first place when making the tackle?

Or even if he said he was going for a shoulder, it can still count as a horse-collar even if the hand is not placed within the collar/neck area of the player's jersey. The actual horse-collar itself is the motion of whipping a player down from an upright position by use of the shoulder/neck area. The velocity with which they'd be whipped back is equal to whiplash in a car accident, if done forcefully enough and at a sharp 90-degree angle with the proper momentum.

Without protective gear, someone could conceivably suffer a broken neck from a horse-collar, or cause enough compression within the spinal column to risk paralysis.

And that's not to mention how vulnerable the player is in the rest of his extremities, depending on if the tackling player is carrying him throughout the motion of the horse-collar, as evident in Roy Williams' tackle on Musa Smith that broke his leg.

Maybe he thought the video evidence would prove that if he really wanted to do some damage to McNabb, he could have done so easily.

i think it was just a stalling of time for him to scramble around for excuses

Lot of good that did, seeing his appeal was denied.

GUILTY!!!

I saw Wade Phillips comments on Roy's suspension and his comments should have been shown to Roy so he could man up and face the suspension. Wade basically said that Roy's strengths are his hand strength and that he obviously needs to break the habit he's been forming for years...Now his own coach didn't even act like he was innocent merely mentioned it's something Roy's been doing for years...

agreed...and it is something that NEEDS To be fixed ASAP...othwise it could result in someone getting seriously injured and not playing the game again...or worse..death..and im pretty sure the NFL doesnt want that kind of thought on their minds...
