McNair would have started. We would have still made the playoffs and done some damage. Flacco only plays if McNair got hurt.

What if we drafted Jonathan Stewart with the 8th pick in the 2008 draft and Chad Henne with the 55th pick?
Ray Rice > Stewart. Flacco > Henne. We would be worst off, and I would probably own a Ravens Henne jersey. But seriously, I doubt Henne would have been able to do what Flacco has/Steward be able to do what Rice has done this year. We dont know how Steward would be as a every down back because he is a compliment to Williams.

What if Troy Smith never got sick is the '08 preseason, and started the first game of the season?

I thought my post insinuated keeping Suggs was a no brainer move over keeping Scott...sorry
Oh It was. I was just thinking with this being the "What If" thread, I was thinking we would have let Suggs walk over Scott so Scott could stay with Rex. I totally agree that it was a no brainer move to keep Suggs. He is going to have a great season next season and I expect him to be huge on the Ravens getting to Dallas to SB 45.

I gotta think, with McNair we may have actually reached the SB that year and might have won it, and McNair would have retired with the ring leaving Joe having 2009 his first year as a starter. I don't know about Stewart, I like him but I like Rice more. Henne would have been a good pick but I could see Joe being taken over Chad still and Henne still would have been in Miami.

What if Rolando McClain, Jermaine Gresham, Arrelious Benn, and Brandon Graham are all sitting at 25, who does Ozzie take? I'm thinking take McClain, as badly as we need a TE/WR/Pass Rusher/Corner help, McClain is a can't miss prospect and someone we can't pass over. McClain would be the perfect replacement for Ray.

Wow. It's tough but I think Ozzie would draft Gresham. The organization wanted Pettigrew last year and the first positon DeCosta talked about on the radio last month was TE. Plus, Gresham is an athletic marvel and had the production at OU to prove it.

What if the Ravens are only able to land Kevin Walter in FA?

I'd be supremely disappointed, and it would mean a couple more years till we develop whoever we pick in the draft. This would make us wait longer to become true contenders.

What if we took the risk on Brees instead of going after McNair in 2006?

Oh my, I can't imagine where we would be if we would have went after Brees, considering what he has done it would have been worth the risk along as we would have gave him better receivers though. Though I just can't imagine Drew Brees in a Ravens uniform and I think it was meant to be for him to be signed by the Saints and to win the Super Bowl.

I would be happy, and at that point I would be hoping for Gresham in the draft, Walter would be a good fit, with Washington and Mason(hopefully), and Marcus Smith coming off an injury and Harper & Riley I would be pretty happy. Besides Dwayne Bowe and Malcolm Floyd, Walter is third on my list of WR I would like to see sign with the Ravens this off-season.

What If the 49ers passed on Michael Crabtree last year, and took someone else, would the Ravens have moved up to grab Crabtree?

The Offense would be SLIGHTLY better, but Flacco would have been getting wrecked from the right side (Could've been Pace or Cousins)

What if Billick was never fired?

You are probably right, we would be looking for an offensive lineman in this years draft. Oh boy.... If Billick was not fired..... :34853_doh:

1) We don't draft Joe(Rice certainly)

2) Cam is a OC somewhere else

3) Boller would have started.... Troy would have started... we would have no franchise QB. we would have took Freeman or another QB.

4) The Locker room would be so torn apart, it would be crazy, I love Billick but it was time for him to go, the team needed a new direction.

What If Harbaugh came in for 2007, and Billick was fired in 2006 despite coming off a playoff appearance(even though it was a loss)

We would have began rebuilding alot sooner and probably would have went further this season.

What if we traded up 2 years ago to pick up Chris Johnson and snagged Ray Rice in the 2nd still?

What if we drafted Drew Brees instead of Todd Heap? Not a big fan of drafting Tight Ends first round BTW....

That would be retarded. Willis was coming off of a pro bowl season, why would we even think about drafting 2 running backs in the first two rounds?

What if we never drafted Flacco and drafted Leodis McKelvin at Cornerback and just let Troy play QB?

I would not be a Ravens fan until he was gone...And we would be mediocre every year.

What if the CBA is settled before free agency hits? Ha have fun with that...

Then everything would be back to normal as should be and there would be no 2011 lockout! yay!

And to answer Alexir's unanswered question Troy would have turned out to be average at best and we would not have had as much success.

What if the Ravens traded up to number 2 in 2008 and drafted Matt Ryan?

Both have been equal so far, so I don't know. Although I don't know if Ryan would be having all the success with our WR's. Its too early to say whose better at this point.

What if we were able to land Tony Gonzalez last year?

If we landed Gonzo, we would have been able to utilize effective 2TE sets with 2 top tier TEs that can both block, catch, and double as WR. We could have done damage in the middle of the field, a place we seemed to ignore most of the season. I think with him at TE, we wold have been in the big game. There would be too many options for Cam with a tandem TE corp

What if Ozzie was never our GM?

I may get flamed, but if he was our HC we might have made it further these past 2 seasons due to Ryan not giving a damn about Character, but he would have eventually lost control of the players like Billick did

What if this Jeff Webb guy went from unknown to a perrenial #1 receiver?

I dont know if we would have gotten further, Rex has never beat Manning and last season Pittsburgh was just better and more experienced on offense than us which led to our demise.

Then we would have needed to trade up, costing us players like Ray Rice.

@Purple Punishment

Then we would have another Derrick Mason, a number one receiver outperforming the rest of the team.

What if Davon Drew became a Tony Gonzales last year?

The team honestly might have won a few more games. Heap doesn't stretch the field anymore which keeps the safeties up and takes away some of the inside routes WRs normally run. Drew would've stretched the field and made plays in the middle of the field.

While it seems unlikely, it's not too late for Drew to do something.

What if, heaven forbid, Ray Rice gets hurt in pre-season next year and McGahee is on another team having been traded this off-season.

Then Jalen Parmele and Le'ron better step up or we don't make the play-offs.

What if Flacco was a bust?

Don't forget about Matt Lawrence. He was arguably the most impressive RB in pre-season not named Rice.

What if the Ravens had Bill Cowher as their HC instead?

Eh, Bill Cowher was their coach for over a decade, they didn't win a super bowl until Big Ben. They won one after Cowher also. I'd say not much would have gone differently.

What if the officiating crews during our '08 season in the Bal-Pitt games weren't secretly Pittsburgh fans?

lol, we win the first game because of Mason's non TD but that should have been challenged anyway. Holmes doesnt score the TD, even though Rex went into classic nickel prevent and it was his fault. When you give up 130 yards in 58 minutes and then give up 90 in 2 min something went wrong.

What if Derrick Stone doesnt take that atrocious Personal Foul penalty in the AFCCG.

Let's not talk about it. If he didnt, we would be looking at a much shorter field, however, he would have still have needed to move the ball a good 30 yards on that Steelers D to have gotten a field goal.

Since you didn't ask a ? I will.

What if Suh fell beyond #9 in this years draft? not likely, but do we pull the trigger to get him?

Suh, Ngata, Gregg, and Sizzle HOLY SHEESH! Our D line would be a brick Wall and we would have a top 3 DE tandem in the NFL

We would trade our draft picks and some players to reach up, and we'll become what we used to be, great defense, mediocre offense.

What if we were called the "Baltimore Browns"?
