Players Cut

33 posts in this topic

This is a segment of players where there are no restraints for signing these players. Maybe we can put players rumored to be cut or reported to be cut here. Then we can have discussion as to whether to sign said player.

Some players I heard from PFT:

Tory Holt, AD, Gibril Wilson, Joey Porter.

Cut Frank Walker and Jameel McClain
[/quote]

I thought Frank Walker became an affective corner at the end of the season. Actually, I thought the entire secondary played better during the last quarter of the year.

You are right. IMO when Walker can keep his head in the game he isn't that bad. He played decently in 2008 as well. I just wish he could play like that all the time.

All the players listed are Old, old, old, and past their primes....Nty

And I cannot forgive Frank Walker after single-handedly losing that Vikings game

We can't cut Walker yet- we need to figure out our depth in the CB position.

I'm going to have to do some serious soul-searching if Walker is on the team next year. Yeah great, he tightened up at the end, but he stunk so horribly, so horribly. I have not been that frustrated with a pro athlete in years.

I thought Hauschka had been given all the credit for the Vikings loss.

He'll be back with us by pre-season,no team will want him and he's a valuble 5th cornerback for us.

I'd be cool with that, but his butt better not be a starter lol. That would break my heart.

I don't remember Walker missing our FG to win the game. My memory is vague though.

During the preseason, whenever the opponent completed a pass later in the game, I would joke, must have been Walker on coverage. The sad thing is, I was right pretty often. He played well in the playoffs, I'll give him credit. I don't care though. He was so brutal this year, I can't believe anyone would want him back. Maybe what angered me the most about him, though, was how the coaching staff would hype him up as this great player that was just going through a rough patch. Problem is, he's been going through this rough patch throughout his time with the Ravens. Hopefully, with a good offseason, we won't feel obligated to have a corner of that caliber filling in.

We need to give some of that blame to the long snapper also!

Both McClains will be here next year and by some miracle we can get another one in the draft.

Even though the team has other needs, that would be awesome.

why on earth would we cut Jameel McClain??

I think ozzie goes after a few players that are cut. I honestly believe Ted Ginn will be cut and i also think that Corey Redding will be aswell. Both guys i want ozzie to go after. Ginn could be our deep threat and #3 wideout behind mason and a rookie. Redding would be our pass rushing DT in our 4-3 sets and our LE in our 3-4 sets. Two realistic possibilities.

Yeah, I was lost on cutting Jameel. That said, I will say that he is going to have to show something more this coming camp. We have Antwaan Barnes who played his way out of the doghouse, Jason Phillips, and others returning. LB position on this team is really competitive, but I would not just cut Jameel. I'd include him in a trade, if possible, but not cut him.

Figure out what? How about this - cut Walker and draft 2 rookie corners, and still have money left over. How about those apples?

Reggie Bush, Ted Ginn.

I really think these people will fit real good with us, We have NO SPEEDSTER on this team. And he are gonna tire out Ray Rice with all these CAtches he gets in addition to all these rushing yards he piles up. Ted Ginn will be in the slot, He will be a faster Mark Clayton.

I know we had our Figurs experience, but It still helps to just outrun people if you can, and no one on our roster can do it......Except Reed on INTs lol

If Bush is cut, there will be a ton of teams willing to pay top dollar to acquire him. Plus, if the Ravens upgrade the WR and TE positions, Rice won't have to catch as many balls again.

Ginn can definitely outrun people but other than kick-offs and the occasional go/fly route, how many times does he get to do that? He routinely drops catchable balls nor does he go over the middle. I don't think the Ravens need him.

Yeah You're right about bush but that's a pipe dream, The thing with Ginn, I dont know, I see him every week because I do work at the Dolphins Staduim. He does drop too much damn passes, but I think it's the pressure he has put on him all the time. I mean I see him coming out the tunnell and all I hear is Boos and he puts his head down in shame, I feel bad for him.

I just think a change of sceneary will do good for him, and who knows reuniting with cam could just be the thing that will get his career going

Wow. I know he hasn't lived up to the hype but that's pretty rough to be booed in his own stadium coming out of the tunnel.

I could see Ozzie and Co. talking about Ginn at the castle but I don't know if he'll wind up here. Anything is possible though. He could be our Devery Henderson(only smaller)

First of all, I really don't agree with getting Ginn. But if we do end up signing him, I only want to see him returning kicks. Keep him as far as possible from our offense.

National Football Post has reported the following players have been cut:

Antonio Pierce (MLB) Age: 31 6'1 238
Geno Hayes (OLB) Age: 22 6'1 226 (Out 3 to 4 Months with a torn labrum)
Tra Thomas (OT) Age: 35 6'7 317
Rob Meier (DT) Age: 32 6'5 308

I'm not really interested in any of these players, but just thought I would list them.

I think with proper training with a real WR Coach, Ginn could shape up as a great complimentary receiver. Sadly, we dont have the coach
