Super Bowl Commericals And Halftime Show

In my opinion, i think the Superbowl commercials were kinda bad this year, but not the bud light ones and a few Doritos ones....And i also think The WHO?? SUCKED ha-ha they are so old, its time for the NFL to get up to date entertainment any thoughts on these????

Blame Janet Jackson and her need to express herself [i]too much[/i] as to why the NFL keeps booking older acts. That said, I didn't see the halftime show (I was in the bathroom the whole time...), but a lot of people have told me it was better than expected. I'll have to catch it eventually before I can comment on it.

That said, the commercials were wholly underwhelming this year. There were a handful that I loved, but too many of them seemed just like regular commercials that you'd see on any given day.

As for the NFL booking younger acts for the halftime show, they'll do it eventually -- just not as long as these artists currently on the radio and on iTunes keep pushing out mediocrity. As a radio DJ, I'm partly to blame but I can only play what's available to me, and unfortunately, much of what my particular audience wants is stuff that appeals to the masses. It's a tricky balance to maintain. I'm forced to play the same 20-30 songs that I personally like from the past few years and barely anything new because there's nothing new that catches my ear or is worth playing, IMO. The music doesn't even have to have a message, it just has to have some sort of redeeming musical quality -- but it all sounds the same.

If I wanted to, it'd be easy to put together a playlist of all-new music and have it sound cohesive because it'd all sound like the same, identical, poppy Autotune crap that I've been forced to listen to for the past three years now. It frustrates me as a DJ that, even though I can play whatever I want, I want to play new stuff but have nothing much worth playing that's new.

I have two complaints.

1. The Denny's commercial. It's a bad day to be a chicken? I assume it's because they'll be going through a lot of eggs. Except all the chickens were rosters. You know, boy chickens, the non-laying variety.

2. Volkswagon's Slug a Bug commercial. It's called Slug a [b]BUG[/b] for a reason. You punch someone when you see a Beetle, not just any old Volkswagon. Otherwise it would be called Slug a POS. You'd think VW would know their own game.

Sorry, that kind of sloppiness annoys me. I did love the Teleflora commercial though.

The Betty White Snickers commercial made me 'lol' a couple times. The other commercials were kind of alright.

I'm glad Janet Jackson had that nip slip. It resulted in the Superbowl booking real talent and classic rock and roll bands. If it wasn't for Janet and MTV being banned we might have had Lady Gaga performing.

Your right. I'm young and I appreciate these older bands. Some people do not appreciate these great bands. I'm all for the classic rock and stuff.

Me: They certainly aged well...but that might have been because of the drugs.

Mom: Keith Richards never looked that good to begin with.

I don't really remember all the commercials. My mom really liked the ETrade talking babies. I'll go back and watch some of them to make up my mind.

and i for one was stoked to see the last airbender commercial love the cartoon,just nervous that M.Night is doing it.

In VW's defense, they did say that the game had changed, or something to that effect.... I thought it was stupid, but they had an "explanation" for it.

Overall, I'd give this year's commercials a 6/10.
