Sharpe Left Out Again?

21 posts in this topic

Not much to say here. What more could he have accomplished at his time of retirement? I guess there's always next year. Apologize for misspelling his name. I was looking up Jamie Sharper's stats and pasted the wrong last name in the title.

He needs to be added into the HoF. Great player, and I imagine a great teammate as well. Being a Ravens fan, I really enjoyed his short stay with us here in Baltimore. He was something to watch.

He retired in 05, so I don't even know if he was eligible. Might be his first year next year. That said, I don't think he'll get in with those numbers at that position.

I think he is HOF worthy and will get depending on how weak the class is. He almost got in and he had Emmit Smith and Jerry Rice in his class. Easily one of the top 3 TE's, probably top 2, all-time.

He was a good player, but not HOF worthy.

Are you serious? He was the first TE ever to cross 10,000 yards and was 1st in history among TE's in Receiving Yards and Receptions at the time of retirement. He was also a 3x SuperBowl Champion. How exactly is that not worthy of being inducted?

The only reason why he wasn't inducted immeadiately is because he plays TE. He will be soon enough. If he was a WR he would probably be in even with the same numbers, or at least would be considered. Idk why he isn't in but he should be in a couple years.

He was actually eligible last year as well, and didn't make it.

It's a shame. Sharpe belongs in the HOF but hopefully next year. You bring up a good point, if he was a WR he would probably be in but since he is a TE he isn't. Just Imagine how long it will take Matt Stover to get in to the HOF and I will say a while since he is a Kicker. I think with every class it depends on who all made the final 25 and who your going up against too. If Emmit Smith and Rice are in different years I'm sure Sharpe or someone else gets in.

Honestly, the HOF selection process is a joke. Just because some of the voters covered the sport in various ways for a long periods of time doesn't mean they should be the only decision-makers as to who gets in.

And from what I've heard, some of them bring their personal feelings to the voting process rather be as objective as possible.

Sharpe is just one of the few players that have beem screwed recently. Something needs to be done.
