Why Billy Cundiff Is Our Man

35 posts in this topic

Keeping Cundiff makes sense. He was pretty solid during the year and I think the team has greater needs to address than a new kicker. Cundiff is more than adequate, if the team wants to get him some competition as a motivational tool, that's fine but the Ravens should work on pass rushers and wide receivers. The old saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it" applies here.

I think we'll probably let someone go for more than a kicker would cost. But the people who said that they will probably be resigned are likely right. I'm banking on one or two of them possibly becoming available.

I just don't see it. Even if someone is available, why would the Ravens use one of only a couple opportunities in free agency to get a kicker? If that's our only worthwhile option then maybe, but we'd be better off addressing one of the several areas that lack solid starters or depth.

A free agent kicker would either have been let go for a reason, or would be looking for a significant contract. They aren't going to want to come here for some sort of extended competition with Cundiff, unless it's their only option. We'll just have to see what happens, you never know who will be available.

I cannot stand anyone talking down about this guy. He came in and did a great job for us. Stover is not the answer, he will never be our answer. We need to kick +50 yarders without room for error and Cundiff gives us that!
