For his innovation: Wes Borland

Guess we should include Les Paul too.

Actually THIS is the part I wanted you guys to see (JUST the Guitarists):

You know what I really liked about this song? During the chorus, there were probably 25 people singing, and who's the one voice that stands out above the rest? Mr. Rob Halford. hmmm, should we start a favorite singer thread? ;)

Kudos to you. I have been pointing that out for yeeeeaaaars to people.

His voice has more range and power than just about anyone. Geoff Tate might be able to challenge, but Halford's still my fave.

Yup. Thing about Tate is that he's not nearly as good live. He can't come close to what he does on recordings. Where as Halford is actually better live, the guy is absolutely amazing. I saw JP one time, Halford's screaming all night long, and then they finish up with Victim of Changes. He held the scream at the end longer than the recording, and of course it was up in the atmosphere. Freakin' incredible!

Queensryche - I've had two opportunities when they opened for Metallica but was too busy partying.

Wow, great videos and so many great guitar players! My personal favorite is George Lynch. Whether it was with Dokken or Lynch Mob or some of his other solo stuff, he just seems to be consistantly dedicated to his art form and all of these guys mentioned in this thread are true artists! George may not be the best, just a personal fave!

They had signed the record deal, and that happened on the last day of his "day job". Talk about some bad luck.....

Tony Iommi is easily one of the most influential guitarists of all time. He took blues rock and made it dark and heavy, taking rock music in the direction that would eventually become heavy metal.

Yup, I've always called Black Sabbath "the Grandfathers of heavy metal".
Geezer Butler is one of my favorite bassists, too.

We might not have the Black Album, but had he not died Cliff's influence would've ensured us some more REAL Metallica stuff for many years.

RIP.

Cliff was thne of the best ever. I don't agree with the REAL Metallica statement, but then again they are my favorite band. I think Bob Rock was a big reason why Metallica took a different direction, and I'm glad that they finally got Rick Rubin to produce Death Magnetic.

I'm not saying they're the best, I'm saying they are my favourite. Was just wondering who everyone likes, I'm not talking about the best guitar players. I love the way Zakk Wylde shreds, like Mick's more up tempo playing and am a sucker for the way Slash plays.

Tom Morello - I was listening to "The Road I Must Travel" this morning, and I still feel compelled to do something.
Stevie Ray Vaughn - he left us all too soon
John Lennon - he was incredible
Brian Setzer - taught me to respect rockabilly
Reverend Horton Heat - he can rock with the best of them, especially when "It's Martini Time" is on the playlist.
