Ravens In The Pro-Bowl

59 posts in this topic

Have any of our Ravens who were nominated to go the pro-bowl indicated that they will play next Sunday? I would love to see them, but I also get it if they really aren't interested right now.

It would be cool to see them one more time, but i couldn't put it past them after that embarrassing game still fresh in their heads....It is a great thing to be part of and to be voted in is amazing but if i was a football player i would be taking a long and needed rest with my family....Football is great but it isn't life but that's just my opinion

Will Flacco replace Manning? O_O

I heard that it was Garrard somehow. Horrible huh?

On a side note, Kevin Mawae will replace Jeff Saturday.

I am not sure about Dallas Clark, Mathis, Freeney, and Reggie Wayne though.

Clark maybe Zach Miller (although Heap as double the TD)

Mathis/Freeney- Aaron Schobel? Who would the 2nd be?

Reggie Wayne - Vincent Jackson possibly?

Yes, it is Garrard!

Are you kidding me? Palmer, Young, and Garrard were chosen before Flacco? What a joke.

The sad thing is that only homer Jags fans would vote for him. This means that there are more homer Jag fans voting for their team's quarterback than their are Ravens fans.

That's absurd. The guy has like a 1:1 TD:INT ratio. Less passing yards than Flacco, averages less yards per attempt, fumbled 14 times. His team didn't even make it to the playoffs. Who exactly voted this guy in? Go ask Jaguars fans about him, they think he's horrible. So they didn't even vote him in. What a joke. I wouldn't be shocked if Derek Anderson and JaMarcus Russell were ahead of Flacco, too.

I'm sure it has already been mentioned on here, but I just saw where David Garrard was named to the pro bowl as Peyton's replacement. What gives, 3597 yds on 60.9% completions, 15 TDs, 10 picks, 83.5 QB rating on a 7-9 team. Its even worse with Vince Young making it, who started only 10 games and finished with 1,879 yds on 58.7% completions, 10 TDs, 7 picks, and an 82.8 rating on an 8-8 team that shot itself in the foot to begin the season and never had a actual chance of making the postseason.

Let's look at two guys who were more deserving in the AFC statistically and as far as leading their teams (that hadnt already been invited)...

Kyle Orton finished the season completing 62.3% of his passes for 3,802 yds, 21 TDs to 12 picks, an 86.8 rating (all career highs except the INT category) in keeping the Broncos in the hunt most of the season.

Joe Flacco finished the season completing 63.1% of his passes for 3,613 yards, 21 TDs to 12 picks, and an 88.9 QB rating (the 13th best in the league) in leading our team to the playoffs again.

Obviously the NFl's alternate selections are just as flawed as the fan vote portion of this event. I guess its a good thing I don't really care because they have destroyed what little enjoyment the pro bowl brought to fans and players this season.

anyone know if they even asked Joe?

No, apparently Schaub, Big Ben, Carson, Garrard, and Vince Young were all ahead of him in voted as alternates. Ben and Carson declined which allowed Garrard and Young to get into the game while Schaub was the 1st alternate.

Jags fans don't even like him? Now I'm baffled. Derek Anderson probably wasn't on the ballot long enough to get voted in and Russell, well I'd almost want him to go just for laughs.

In all seriousness, Mark Sanchez probably got more votes than Flacco.

It's possible. Carson Palmer's decline didn't come out for a little while, so it's conceivable that Flacco might have cited his injury as a reason to not go, but I seriously doubt it.

Apparently guys like Young and Garrard are more popular.

I for one am ashamed of our fan base. We couldn't even have enough homer votes to beat a team with a fan base so small that they can't sell out their home games? Come on, guys. ;)

I wouldnt have put Flacco in over Big Ben or Palmer or even Vince Young.

I cant believe how many Ravens fans have said things like this, Flacco didnt deserve to be anywhere near the pro bowl. Joe Flacco has in no way proven that he is an elite or even above average QB in this league. He does deserve a shot with better talent around him but he does not manufacture wins or make plays with games in the line.

Mcnair didnt make the Pro Bowl when we went 13-3 and Flacco doesnt deserve to make it after his piss poor season. If you take Detroit and Chicago out of the equations his numbers are bottom 10 in the league. And his record in games decided by 4 or less points is 2-6 in his career.

Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Ravens fan, he doesnt deserve to be in this game. Stats dont tell the whole story.

Joe Flacco:

15th in NFL Passing Yds
11th in NFL in Comp Pct
17th in NFL yds per game
15th in NFL TD Passes
13th in NFL Fewest INT's
13th in NFL Avd Passer Rating
14th in NFL yds/pass

How can you make a case for him to be in the pro-bowl?

Hate all you want but these are the stats/facts.

Flacco should have made it over Garrard, but honestly Kyle Orton has more of a case than Flacco does when it comes to stats. If this was a traditional pro-bowl and they had everyone playing he wouldnt be in the top 6 AFC QB's statistically.

Well people obviously didnt agree with me so I posted stats. I was talking about intangibles and what they do in the clutch but seeing as how my reputation was -4 within an hour of making the post I thought I would post stats if thats all people care about.

And if he is not a top 10 QB yet why should he be on the Pro Bowl? Since that is what we are discussing on this thread?

And to be fair if we are going by stats and not home team bias he is more like a middle of the road NFL QB.

[/quote]i don't think he should have went because manning, rivers, & brady are better than him but for garrard & young to get spots before him is stupid he's done more in 2 years than they have ever done

It would've been nice too see Joe make the Pro Bowl but considering his injuries, its probably a good thing he didn't make it.

Now, he can fully heal, get bigger and stronger in the off-season, study film and have a great 2010.

I agree, Young got it because of his record as a starter and the turn around the Titans had. He also fits the Mike Vick mold who played in a bunch of Pro Bowls with mediocre stats. Garrard was a bogus call, but as I said even then Orton still has the edge on Flacco in the stats catergories.

yeah orton would have made more sense because you can compare his stats to flacco's but joe probaly doesn't care anyway

Next year we should all vote for Flacco so that when the Super Bowl QB cant play in it we will get to see him with good WRs :229031_rofl:
