Merged: T.O. to B-More Idea

75 posts in this topic

I guess many of you havent heard. Couple weeks ago. T.O. posted on his twitter that he'd like to go back to the 49ers and play beside Crabtree and Vernon Davis. Of course the comment was later removed. Mike Singletary could keep T.o.O in check.

However I like the idea of T.O. to baltimore.

Harbaugh can't handle Owens personality. We sign him and he sits in a doghouse all season? Not happening.

that´s an interesting point we all didn´t talk too much about. i got a lot of negative reps on another thread where i pointed that out!
i think you are right about it. how many times where receivers open and flacco just staid too long with his number one option. i mean we shouldn´t put him in a green jecket jet. maybe we see a little bit too much in him and maybe we do not. i guess the answer can only be given if we finally get some receivers for him. then we will see if he can produce or not. maybe our receivers aren´t the best group in the nfl, they aren´t for sure the worst. please don´t get me wrong, i like flacco but i just think we overhype him a little...i hope i am wrong on this point!!!!!!!!
Don't put too much into neg/pos reps....they're useless anyway.

People are patient here with Flacco b/c he is still a young, learning QB. Now he has 2 playoff seasons under his belt, and he will make MAJOR strides this offseason. Bank on it.

You hit the nail on the head. Obviously the thread originator forgot the TO had a chance to play for the Ravens and REFUSED! Enough said.

Yeah, when Kyle Boller was our QB... if you were a WR in your prime and could choose to play with either Kyle Boller or Donovan McNabb, who would YOU choose? That's a lame reason to dismiss the idea.

I'm not saying he's my first option (Marshall is), but if we re-sign Mason and trade for Marshall and bring in T.O. on a 1-year deal then draft another WR or two, we'll be set. Of course, this all hinges on the CBA.

Wow that would be quite a bit. I don't think that is likely at all. Unless Mason retires, and Clayton and DWill go elsewhere, amongst other issues, I don't see TO getting any calls.

Personally, I want to start a N-O to T-O campaign. I don't want him. You may have been able to make the argument when he was in his prime. I always said that despite his attitude and general weirdness, he comes to play. Drops aside, he was an amazing athlete back in the day. Now, he is just a journeyman vet that no one really wants. Why would we add that to an already crappy receiving crew?

T.O. is more explosive than Mason and is better than any WR currently on our roster.

He didn't want to be here when he was (sort of) in his prime. Now that he's washed up and realizes that this team could make it to the superbowl he probably is going to crawl back at Ozzie's office and beg him to pitch him a contract. Let him rot in hell, nobody needs him.

Not that I really want T.O. to be a Raven but could you blame him at the time? Everyone in the league new how bad Boller was and T.O. had already established chemistry with McNabb at the Pro Bowl.

I don't blame him. He didn't want to come here because our offense struggled and because he was one of the best receivers in the league. But years passed since then...now we're on our way to a superbowl hopefully and TO is the one that nobody is interested in signing. He picked Philly over us because it was a better situation for him. Now i just want us to do the same thing to him he did to us back then. Let's just go for a better receiver who's not a billion years old like Marshall or even Boldin. I know that means giving up something in return but i just don't want TO in this city. He disrespected the city back then, he disrespected Ray with that dance, our entire defense. Nobody wants this guy here.

I don't really want him here either. The money they'd use to sign him could probably be used to sign a FA receiver who wouldn't just be here for one season.

Agreed. There's very little logic to this move at all. The Ravens have already started building an offense that they believe will be in place for the long term:

23 year old Ray Rice
25 year old Joe Flacco
25 year old Le'ron McClain
23 year old Michael Oher
25 year old Ben Grubbs
23 year old Jared Gaither

You get the idea.

Terrell Owens at 37 years old just doesn't make any sense.

I could understand if they brought in an older offensive player as a kind of mentor for the Ravens very young offense (like a Matt Birk at 33 or a Derrick Mason at 36), but T.O. doesn't have the personality or temperament of a mentor.

Well, to be fair, Derrick Mason willingly came here in 2005 rebuild the offense and add another feather to his cap with a young QB. Boller wasn't as bad at the time as he would turn out to be; Boller was a rookie in 2003 who missed time because of injuries, and showed potential in 2004. Owens snubbed the Ravens because he didn't want to play with a 2nd-year QB. Sure, you can't blame Owens for wanting to play with a solid QB like McNabb at the time, but I commend Mason for being enough of a competitor to challenge himself like that -- especially when there were other offers at the time. And if I remember correctly, even Philadelphia was interested in acquiring Mason after the Eagles started to see a little bit of T.O.'s mean streak immediately after their Super Bowl loss.

I didn't think of that. It just speaks to Mason's character. I really hope he returns for one more year.

Talent isn't everything particularly if he is a destructive influence in a 'team chemistry' sort of way. I want him as far from the Ravens as possible, because I think he remains a destructive influence in the locker room and on the field.
