Reed Wants To Coach?

21 posts in this topic

Ed Reed stated a few days ago that he has always been interested in coaching someday and when asked at what level he said college to start out...I cant imagine one day when were all old and gray watching the Baltimore Ravens and Ed Reed and Big Ray Ray standing on the sidelines sharing their passion for the game with the players....Taking this team to a whole new level...Well i guess i can at least dream ha ha but i think that would be a great thing one day even as Defense Corr. and Secondary Coach....Would any of you guys enjoy that also???

i remember a game this year when Gruden said that Reed wanted to be a defensive backs coach when he retires. i would love to have him here next year as a coach. Yes i know we already have an amazing secondary coach but we could hire him as a consultant or something. Reed and Lewis should be on the Ravens sideline forever!!

You could tell when Ed was sidelined due to injury how much he enjoyed coaching and mentoring the other players. I think that Dominque Foxworth's and maybe Chris Carr's improved play can be linked to Ed Reed.

If I had my way I would have Ed Reed coaching our secondary the year after he stopped playing for us. But I know that may not be possible; would probably want to take time off with family etc.

If Ed Reed does indeed retire, I'd love to see him on the sidelines as a coach. I know he would be a great one.

Reed stated that, if he starts coaching, he wants to do it at the college level first. My best guess is obviously to start at the U, but there's also a strong possibility he'd lower his profile and go to a smaller school or probably one near his home state of Louisiana.

Pssh, College?

Hire him right off the retirement wagon. Some of his skills cannot be tought, but he knows more about that than anyone else.

I totally agree your talking about some of the best DB and LB to play the game....especially after losing defensive mastermind like Rex...

If he retires we need to can Carrier and sign him as the DB's coach and eventually make him the defensive coordinator then eventually head coach!

Is it possible he mentioned coaching college first because he thought it was a leap to go from playing to coaching NFL? Obviously he has the talent to do it no doubt, but maybe he didn't want to seem over the top in his statement? Just a guess. But heck yes if he isn't playing then I'd love to have him as a coach for us.

Hell no that we have these 2 precious rubies like Lewis and Ed leaving us. Ravens owners better plan to keep these two guys. Let them do some assistant coaching or something!! keep them on Ravens sideline to encourage our guys :)

Back to topic, Reed, you are going to where but staying on Ravens coaching staffs or something.

I think that Reed should play for some more years..Although if he does decide to retire..why not sign him as a secondary coach...he is the FS in the league today and is one of the most feared DBs in along time

I think being removed from the NFL hype and speed, and honing his coaching skills somewhere might just be fun for him. He's earned some time to relax and train some future stars in relative obscurity. Really, I don't think he needs to learn how to coach, so much as he'd like a bit of a change of pace. But you might be right - perhaps he doesn't want to be presumptuous.

I'd be a fan whatever he wants to do.
