As I stated before, the high transciency in and of itself is a direct result of an overall lack of maturity on the board. I myself find that the board is dominated by childish "groopies" who abuse the neg-rep system to suppress thought. Moderators, at times appear to encourage this boorish behavior, by allowing statements such as "let's flame this post from disgruntled users" then closing the thread to reward them.

Again with the reputation system. Ever since the new limit of 2 negative votes per day was established, there've been far fewer complaints about the system. Where's the abuse? Where's this supression of thought you speak of?

Additionally, the community dictates the environment; as a result, if a thread is so outlandishly negative or outrageous so as to incite a negative response, the thread is closed merely to protect the original poster from further harassment and to minimize the repetition of such threads that do nothing to further thoughtful conversation. It is not a "reward" to the community at all for such flaming.

I don't take kindly to your use of the term "groupie" to describe the community, seeing as how I was here from Day One. Am I such a groupie? Are the regulars groupies? Just because we helped build this community into what it is?

I just wrote my testimony regarding Harbaughs failure to throw th eflag, and the subsequest abuse of the system by the "Groupies." I explained in full detail my characterizations of suppression.

WRONG! The community does NOT dictate rules of a public environment. You sound as if you are operating a private members-only country club. And even if you did, the community STILL doesn't dictate rules of that environment either. Laws must govern a public invironment, not the quirks of some ad-hoc group. What we are REALLY need is some LEADERSHIP here - not some pacifier of the "good ole boys" with a wink and a nod. I guess that means Moderating is a tough job for someone who might be fair, impartial and competent, Remember, the big tent has all ages, all genders, all classes, all races, all regions, all cultures, and all languages,,,, and not to mention the know it alls too!

Any football fan who is offended because someone criticizes the performance of their favorite player or coach IS A GROUPIE. You have to decide for yourselves what you might be. I can't say that I have seen you behave in that manner on this board though,,,,, since you asked the question.

Finally, you should be proud of the commumity that you have helped to build. I just want to encourage you to continue to growing it and making it better.

My characterisation of calling a statement and subsequent justification of the statement - dumb, is meant to point out the fact that the statement in and of itself, is "baseless."

I offered an alternative view of harbaugh's failure to throw the red flag a couple of weeks ago, and all hell broke out too. First the groupies called for a flaming of the post, then, just like "mindless-klingons" the trekkies followed suit. Now being that these kind of people have long ago discreditged themselves as objective football fans, it is in my opinion that they earned the designations of Trekkie's and Groupies. This is the only way I couldthink of to discribe the behavior. I found it to be bizarre, distasteful, and actually fitting of the definition of "trolling."

But of course, then comes the Moderator (conveniently late) to give a stern rebuke to the attack victim, then close the thread. Only the deeply flawed and sarcastic mind could call that open and objective.

Not to be harsh or unneighborly, but this system can get better. That's what I REALLY want.

I agree that open calls for flaming a post or thread are pretty much just trolling and once or twice I've received fire in a similar manner - it occasionally happens. But there are a lot of other reasons people positive/negative rep.

I understand you've had some negative interactions which have colored your view of topics like this one, but again, I must say, in my opinion, it's just a bad idea to paint most of a community with your frustations.

Mods are people too (*gasp!*), and aren't always saying/doing what you might think - that said, favoritism is junk and I don't like it anymore than anyone else. I've disagreed with a mod once or twice, and vehemently so, but generally they're just really busy people trying to get things done in a relatively thankless role. If you disagree with a mod, take it to private messages. I've worked out a thing or two that way... they can be pretty darn resilient considering the perpetual and stessful nature of their task.

All-in-all, I understand what you're saying and you're making good sense - just pull a "Dale Carnegie" when it comes to those times when you want to blast lots of people all at once.

Giggity!

By the way, that's a pretty good description of our Moderating Team. We have a lot of diversity and we work together on deciding what is within our Code.

I for one support Harbs and his staff. No I do not agree with everything they do, but you can't argue with results 1 game away from Superbowl last year and 2 games away this year. I love Rex Ryan ( he was who I wanted to see get the job) and am glad he is making the most of his chance in NY... However, I think The Ravens organization made a good choice

Somehow, you left off the first part of the quote, which is the MOST IMPORTANT PART. I will give you the benefit of a doubt and declare it to be inadvertant.
