Would you pick him up if the Chargers were to release him?

Okay, I know he basically drained the Chargers superbowl worthy team's season down the drain with his 3 missed field goals (one of them being 58 yards), but I think the Ravens should pick him up IF the chargers ever let him go because of his choke art. I went over to a Chargers forum to see how they're coping and a lot of people are calling him to be cut, now I know they don't speak for the Chargers FO, but Kaeding's choked in their playoffs appearance for the second time, and I think it's safe to say their loss against the Jets are on Kaeding.

However a big choker he is, people change, and a new scenary I think will really make that happen. In the future, he'll think of this game and never make the same mistake again.

For the numbers, Billy Cundiff is 29 years old while Kaeding is only 27 years old. Kaeding has 91.4% with 3 out of 4 tries outside of 50. Cundiff has a 70.6% with 0 out of 2 tries outside of the 50.

Now I don't know for sure if the Chargers will really release him but no one knows what will happen.

They won't. And if they don't, we should.

However that is always that thing that since we were a top 8 team we can't sign any one without dropping anyone, and the person we sign has to be the same contract as the person we dropped. So if they do drop him, we have to give him a Cundiff contract which is nothing.

I understand the one miss but the other two were inexcusable. They weren't that far away and guess what if he had made them they would have won 20-17

This lack of a new CBA is really starting to be a pain. Getting punished for being a successful team? The real losers, as usual, are the fans. The money situation kills the chance even if we wanted to.

on a second thought, here's an interesting stat.

Kickers against the Jets this playoffs: 0 for 5. Both solid or automatic kickers in Graham and Kaeding.

True, but as painful as it is for us, I think it's good generally for the league, because if there aren't regulations to limit such successes the league would be as bland as the MLB where it's always the Yankees and the Redsox and the bottom dwellers sometimes stay down for as long as +10 seasons.

I agree with you 100% man...You hit the nail on the head....The big commistioner is becoming a little bit of a pain....We pay all this money for tickets, beer, food, jerseys, other appearal and yet the good teams get screwed....It ALL ends up in his pocket and other employees pockets...The NFL has all the money in the world but yet they keep needing more and more every year....

Oh, no doubt I hear ya, I just think theres enough of this "pie" to go around for everyone. I've always been down on MLB for not having a salary cap of some sort, the Oriole fan in me is ticked big time!

I gotta say I feel for Kaeding today; he has been nothing but money in his career but when it comes to the playoffs he is the biggest choking kicker out there.

There is no way Kaeding could kick in the AFC North, in Baltimore, Cleveland, and Pitt late in the season. Heck even Cincy gets cold and windy.

Yeah im surprised Cundiff has done as ok as he has considering the weather on the east coast. If we could have 1 kicker with no pressure problems I would like Ryan Longwell for the rest of his career while developing another young kicker on the practice squad.

That sounds familiar...

"...It's always the Patriots, Steelers, and Colts; and the bottom dwellers, like the Lions, Browns, and Bills sometimes stay down for as long as +10 seasons."

this dude reminds me of Mike Vanderjagt. Money in the regular season for the most part, except for when it counts most. Outside of the pro bowl, I think Kaeding's had ONE game winning field goal his whole career. And that came a month before the Jets game.

edit: I see darklight made the Vanderjagt comparison before me, hmph.

well damn heres a wonderful article
The last time the most accurate kicker in NFL history (Mike Vanderjagt) messed up in a divisional playoff game, he was run out of the league after the next season.
Hes like the best kicker in the AFC West, and ehs a probowler, why in the hell would they release him? Sure they lost a playoff game, but that isnt worth cutting him.

It's hard to kick a field goal with both hands wrapped around your neck.

(I use a very similar joke for Donovan McNabb)

Seeing as how they just gave Turner a 3 year extension for a first round exit, I'm pretty sure Kaeding has nothing to worry about.

true true, I just thought hypothetically. But after all, this isn't the first time Kaeding's blown a playoff game. He's done it before. He's 8 for 15 in playoffs. Charger fans are calling for his head right now, but correct that doesn't mean jack.
