Derek Anderson? Really?

but with the promise that Smith has shown and his positive growth and development to hopefully become a center piece for this offense in the near future.....he's really come a long way from OTA's.....

Was most of Quinn's money in signing bonuses? Which as we all know, dont' count against the cap.

To answer this, his contract is very much incentive-laden. Right now he's not making much more than any other backup QB is making. He's not an expensive investment until he starts hitting playing time and performance incentives in his contract. The holdout after the draft was a disagreement over how high the bar should be set on those incentives.

Derek Anderson is a product of that system in Cleveland, plain and simple. Hence why he was relegated to the practice squad with the Ravens after being the 3rd-string QB at one point.

He may not be the next Bernie Kosar, but at least he's gotten the job done for the Browns.

However, that's not to say he would've been a guaranteed success in Baltimore, even with all the supporting talent and coaching in the world. Some QB's were made to play in a certain system, others are just great enough to play, period.

Only time will tell if Anderson is a pure QB, through-and-through.

Tom Brady would look bad, if he was here in Baltimore under Billick's coaching. Good NFL coaches design plays that compliments he players strength, not coach to a system. Brian Billick would make a nice college coach, because most of them recruit players that fit there system.

Derek Anderson is good because he fits the system. If he fits a system with a collapsing o-line and terrible play calling, I'd be annoyed he slipped by us, but alas...I'm not.

These are the real issues here!!! Anderson fits the system in Cleveland, but would he really fit a system (here) with lousy play calling, and an inconsistent offensive line (regardless of injuries). The real issues to address in the off season is getting a top notch play caller (promote Neuheisel for real???), and get more depth at offensive line.

This has been a glaring weakness for years.

ANY QB, no matter who he is, would struggle here.

He's really good at throwing flags too. =]

Scott is also good at ending QBs careers that play for Cleveland. Can't wait to see Derek next year.

The next time you post on my blog i'm going to steal a Winslow and a Derek Anderson Jersey and set them on fire! have fun with all our left overs. Real men wear purple and brown is the color of ****!

Why don't you toast to that!

Enjoy!

If that's the case with Scott I wish he would of acted a little earlier to get rid of craptastic Frye. But that's another story..

As far as your "leftovers," for now I will enjoy them and our winning record. I shall toast to that. =]

.....this dis-pleases me....lol....But remember...there's ALWAYS another season and next season we look to have a pretty good team with the Rookies of today, stepping up and becoming vital parts of our offense....
