Did Anyone Else Notice The Things Flacco Doesnt Do On The Sideline

68 posts in this topic

If you watched the game, which im sure a lot of you did...Did any of you notice that when flacco mess's up or its a 3 and out he goes to the sideline and just walks around and drinks Gatorade and hits people on the helmet...Yes i also noticed him and Cam getting into it so maybe something is changing in flacco...But all QBs study when they are on the sideline even Sanchez the dirty bum does it but not flacco i love him to death but this off season he has to start becoming the leader 3-4 years in the league your not considered a kid no more and he is going to have to carry this team on his shoulders at some point and not count on ray rice all the time...

A few things that make me mad, not realizing the defense is offsides and taking a free play, lack of urgency when running the offense and loosing his mind in the redzone.

Joe is usually very calm and indifferent when he's on the field. But he let it go today after being frustrated and had it out while talking to Cam. I don't know but the lack of talent at WR corp or whatever it was that was hampering our passing (lack of) attack really got to him.

I don't see him ever looking at pictures or going over the polaroids sent down from the guys up in the suites, but he's not the only QB who I don't see doing that. But he might want to take a note from one of the best QBs who does that OFTEN... Mr. Peyton. It works for him.

I also don't notice Joe getting the offense lined up until late in the play clock. Now, that might not be his fault... but someone needs to get that addressed.

Then again, you'd have to know what you're looking at to even gain anything from the pictures... lol. playing.

Wacco for Flacco. But he is falling into the same rut as almost every other Raven QB we've seen. They must put them guys on a machine that zaps their desire to excell. Like a sci-fi movie. Maybe it's in the helmet already when they get to B-more.

...saps his desire to excell? He's doing AMAZINGLY. Considering what we give him, and that our offense isn't very pass-oriented to begin with - he's pretty much kicking everyone in the mouth with how great he is.

...okay, that's overestimating it a bit. But he's very good when he's on his game, and even off it, he's the best QB we've had for a while.

My conspiracy theory is it's just a bias towards what you want to show the QB as. Peyton they want to show as someone who studies the game, so every other shot (even when Ravens were on offense) is Peyton on the bench. They pick and choose when to show various players, so it's really just what the media wants to show you.

True.

We are only shown at what the director chooses to be broadcast.

Do you seriously guys think that a PRO NFL QB just sits and not studies during a game? I don't think it would ever work out...

How about his wasting time-outs because he can't get the offense together in time to snap the football, while every other QB in the NFL can. It's not like our offense is really complex or anything.

Run it with Ray Rice. Run it with Willis. Throw short passes to whoever is running the shortest route. Occasionally throw a sideline pass to Mason.

Flacco obviously studies on the sidelines. Every QB in the league does it, why wouldn't he?

Maybe he's not drinking Gatorade, but his own I need to find a new cliche.

Rivers had two delay of game penalties yesterday... I think a lot of that has to do with Cam.....lol

Alot of people have been stating flaccos going downhill but nobody can say if he is for sure yet because he doesnt have anything to work with in the receivers corp. Now if we make a splash in fa and the draft and get some good wrs aand flacco still looks this way then maybe we might have a problem. But i did like flacco standing up to cam on the sideline.

Do you have a steady camera on the sidelines? After one of the Ravens 3 and outs the Ravens D was on the field for 8mins you dont think Flacco was looking at stuff then?

I guess this poster didnt see Carson Palmer,Phillip Rivers and Tony Romos
performance in the playoffs this last week.Really really bad.

I have never seen Joe throw a pick like Rivers did that cost them the game.
It was one of the worst throws ive ever seen and without any real pressure.

Im confident Joe will move to the next level if we get him some big play
receivers.

Yes I have seen shots of him looking at photos maybe not as much as others but he does walk around and communicate with his players more then I have seen other Qb's. As for the lining up slow Harbaugh addressed that in the media a couple of weeks ago and basically said it is what he wants Flacco to do blaming himself and Cam.

What the heck is with all of the Flacco hating. No, the guy isn't a superstar and may not ever become one; however, an 88.9 rating (13th in the league) with 3600 yards and 21td(12ints)in his second season???? What more do you want people. The guy is above average in his second season coming out of a AA school. Plus he has the worst receiving corps in the league. Give him someone who can get open for crying out loud. Sure, he under throws many deep balls and makes terrible decisions from time to time, but he has nothing to work with. We have a run blocking line and pathetic receivers. It would be nice if our receivers could bail him out from time to time, like out jumping someone for a ball. Just once, how about our receivers make a play on a bad ball.

I dont even like Flacco all that much, I dont think he is that good yet, but jeez people, cut him some slack. SECOND year in the league. Look at how Brady performed, or Romo, or Rivers, or Palmer. All of these guys are older than FLacco AND have better receivers.

Flacco looks at the film, he talks to the guys upstairs, and to Cam. All of this Blame Game nonsense needs to stop. Had the Ravens won that game, would people be jumping all over Flacco? no. The guy has absolutely NOBODY to throw to except Mason and Ray Rice. Good defenses start double covering Mason, and start catching Rice out of the backfield, then who is there? Clayton doesn't get open, Williams is a joke, Washington isn't even on the field enough to make a difference, and Heap has to stay in and block because the O-line can't handle it's self against defenses that have good outside rushers.

Does Flacco have to continue to improve? Yes. But so does the entire team, and coaching staff.

Out of curiosity, any lip-readers here that can tell what Joe & Cam were saying to each other? I know at one point it looked like Joe said something along the lines of "You can't see what I see out there," but that was all I could/cared to make out.

I clearly remember seeing Joe say, "I made the decision...". If I saw the video again, I'm sure I could get the full gist of what he said.

I was honestly glad to see Joe challenge Cam. People seem to expect him to be Peyton Manning and Drew Brees by year 2. Obviously that's not going to happen but I personally feel Joe took a step forward in his development Saturday night.

just because you don't see it on tv doesn't mean he isn't looking over things
[/quote]

Exactly. And does he need to be studying every second, no. Like I have exams tomorrow, and I'm not study right this second.
How about we put an end to all our Flacco bashing and just forget about the fact that we lost and move on. I have.

First match up against the Colts, Flacco threw that pick over the middle that pretty much sealed the game for the Colts.

Anyways more blame is put on the receivers than Flacco, which is definitely understandable because we are lacking, but our passing game in the beginning of the season was outstanding. Alot of factors play into this. A few being our extremely basic (predictable) play calling, Flacco's injury, poor pass protection, and poor route running by receivers. Personally, more of the blame is to be put on Cam than anyone else at this point, but of course that's my totally unprofessional opinion.
