I started that topic a year ago, and still stand by the statement. Isnt it kinda funny the jets play and act like the ravens of last year? The defense, the offense , and the swagger. The phrase play like a raven dont even apply to us, it applies to the jets. We got changed from a murder of ravens into a church full of choir boys, thanks harbs...love the new attitude buddy.

The irony is if the Jets beat the Colts somehow next week.. ohhh man. I'd like to see the look on Peyton's face if that happens. I doubt it'd happen though.

After last nights loss to of all teams, The Colts, it took me a while to get my stomach settled enough to even think about reading or writing on this subject. After watching today's games I remembered that The Ravens could have replaced Billick with Rex Ryan before they went and hired outside the franchise. It's difficult to believe that the folks in the front office couldn't secure Rex as the next head coach. Maybe it was the knee jerk reaction, at the time to just do something completely different and new. But Ryan was such a spirit within the organization. Today's Jet victory over the very balanced Chargers makes me think that Ryans is indeed very special. I am glad for him. But I would rather have seen him as head coach in B-more than having two John Harbaughs. Something is missing within the Raven organization in terms of drive or spirit. On again, off again performance is what it looks like on the outside. And I know the Jets had some problems during the season and may not have even been in the play offs if The Colts had not thrown the game by taking all the starters out, but they will still be in the mix next week. If The Ravens ever get another opportunity in the coaching department like Rex they should jump on it. For the present I think we are stuck with Harbaugh and company and that is not very likely to produce anything more than we've seen. At least, that's my opinion for what it's worth.
Wow. You're entitled to your opinion but do you realize that this team has gone to and advanced in the play-offs two years in a row despite playing with an inexperienced QB and having multiple key players on IR?

And how can you say something is missing within the organization in terms of drive and spirit? Win or lose, they play with passion every week.

And for you to say they aren't likely to produce anything more than we've seen is a sad statement.

Seriously, rather than make sweeping judgments based on one event, fans really needs to look at the big picture. Ryan has been a HC for one year and made the AFC Championship that year. It remains to be seen how far he'll go but I find it foolish to assume he would've had the same or more success than Harbaugh in two years had he been HC of the Ravens.

Look at who he has on his defense. Arguably the best corner in the league, a Pro Bowl safety, two top-flight inside LBs, a solid OLB and a bunch of talented role-players.

I dont understand why people hate on Sanchez or the Jets. I mean Rex had a lot to do with us going to the AFCCG. If they beat the colts next week, I will be so happy. That defense is insanely good and Sanchez is statistically better than Flacco whether you compare him to Joe's rookie post season stats or this years post season stats.
Sanchez is playing behind a better o-line than Joe has ever had, has a better running game and is throwing to better targets.
+1, totally agree. I was saying the same thing when we fired Billick. Harbs took away this teams swag.
But he's taken them to the play-offs two seasons in a row. I'll take that production over swag any day.

Last time I checked, they were only down 5 points after the first half when Peyton was pulled in the 3rd. Yeah, you can say it was a "silver platter" win but they are playing football right now and our guys are getting out their clubs and/or retirement forms...

yea they did sneak in, but our excuse is that we are learning a new defense and got a young qb. Shouldnt the jets be able to use the same excuses. I didnt give mattison or harbs half a chance to begin with, but honestly they did a decent job. I just miss the attitude and i'll admit im a little jealous that the jets have that intensity now......am I the only one.

Pro Bowlers on Defense for Ravens:
Ed Reed
Ray Lewis
Terrell Suggs
Trevor Pryce (yeah that was a long time ago)
Haloti Ngata

We are pretty stacked on Defense and the thing is everyone was saying that Rex wouldn't be successful in New York cuz he didnt have the personnel like he did in Baltimore. Bart and Jim have been pretty quiet over there actually. The Ryan family just knows football.

We have a lot of work to do to be ready to compete for next year. Lot's of trades and drafts to get this aging defense back together and we need to get flacco some recievers.

Yea rex got a shutdown corner, and who else......Mattison inherited Ngata, top five dt in the league, Ray Lewis greatest mlb of all time, Ed Reed best safety ever!!!!! T-Sizzle, pro bowler. So who got handed the better defense, the only difference is rex knew what to do with it.

Bart and Jim have been quiet in NY because they aren't the best players on that D. They are vital cogs but Revis, Rhodes, Harris and Pace make that D tick.

With the jets winning and going to the AFC championship game it made my stomach turn but at the same time you gotta be happy for Rex....Personally i don't think they should be there but they proved me wrong and proved others wrong...In my opinion Sanchez is overrated yes he is in the situation flacco was in with a great run game and AMAZING defense, but in my eyes i don't think that kid is going to be nothing great....I was never a fan of him at USC even though he played 14 games...He got a lot more weapons around him than flacco....My hat is off though to Rex, Bart, Jim they play with power and passion every down.....

Well get em' next year!!!
Lets hope for a great off season this year...

Sanchez is NOT facing a high power STEELER defense next week.

LOL! I've said it before, the Jets defense has a ton of talent. Even more than the Ravens.

Rex got handed a defense too. Rex brought up Bart, Jim and Marques Douglas but they aren't the key players on that D.

And considering where the Ravens finished in total D, I would say Mattison knew what he was doing too.

You can laugh all you want but Harris was named to the AP second All-Pro team this year and Kerry Rhodes has been All-Pro himself. I'm not saying either of them are as good as Ray or Ed but they are quality players.

Ray and Ed aside, the Jets have better talent at every other position in my opinion.

Ed_Reed20 is right in what he's saying....although Id disagree with Rhodes as he was benched this year by Rex. Harris is one the best pass rushing and run stuffing ILBs in the league right now, Revis is THE best corner in the league, Scott is a top 3 run stuffing ILB in the league. Their Dline is phenomenal and when Jenkins is in there it rivals ours. Pace is a more athletic JJ, does dirty jobs, drops in coverage, blitzs. The only thing the Jets dont have is a dynamic edge rusher like we have when Suggs is in shape lol. The Jets talent on defense is right up there with the best of them.

My honest prediction: The Colts are gonna destroy the Jets next week. It was the Jets who ended the Colts undefeated run. The Colts are probably gonna get payback, cuz they were on a tear against us defensively.

Everyone will be looking at Peyton vs the Jets defense. The game will be decided on the other side of the ball. I honestly don't see the Jets doing anything on offense. Sanchez, a rookie, should struggle in that dome in the AFC title game. These are just my predictions.

I wonder if, behind closed doors Cam and Joe actually talk about how they DONT have the players to be explosive on offense and they just feed us this crap to not air it out in the public?
I hope Joe was fussing on the sideline about the protection and play calling. An ill child called the best play against NE. so Cam cannot even claim credit for that one.

I see the timing of play calling and personnel lineup (OC choice) as a big problem. Since Joe is throwing high a lot why not play your taller receivers more? K Washington, E Riley (dead issue now)! Many of the team’s losses this season were due to coaching choices not the wr’s, imo.

Flacco’s accuracy has been off too. He made high throws against New England and against Indy. He threw behind Washington, high to Rice, and was extremely short on the long ball late in the game. High throws gets your receivers hurt. Mason’s separated shoulder last season came off a jump catch where his legs were taken out from under him by the defender while he’s in the air. I believe Joe’s inaccuracy has led to the team avoiding throwing down the middle of the field. Accuracy was not an issue in the beginning of the season so that tells me something has changed. Perhaps too many throws during practice or not enough arm rest before games.

If anyone is still looking for a reason for the loss to Indy, try penalties, turnovers, and a confused Offense. The Defense played well!

Well here is my take and I dont really care if you neg me all night long

Nobody on this forum should hate Rex or the Jets. They simply made the moves necessary to improve their team. They jumped up to get Sanchez. They let Rex come in and put together the #1 defense for this season in a defense that wasnt ranked quite that high last year. They went out to get Braylon Edwards to give Sanchez a #1 guy to throw to. They didn't say "Oh, well we made it to the ACF Title game with the guys we had, so we dont need a WR" They went out to get him a weapon that could calm him down back there. Where is our Wideout???? Oh thats right 2WR set with Mason and Clayton, yeah thats not going to fool anyone. If anyone thinks that D Mase is a legitimate #1 receiver then you are truly insane. If we had an Larry Fitz, Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall type of wideout, would D Mase be #1? No. Simply put, we dropped the ball last offseason spending 3 draft picks that amounted to nothing for us, and none of them could have been a legit threat for Joe to use.

Jason Phillips - IR Neck Injury
Davon Drew - Released
Graham Gano - Released

Out of those 3 picks, any of them, we could have picked a Wideout. It didn't happen and I know everyone was like WTH did we just do? Well I will tell you what we did, We didnt give Flacco "that guy" to grow with for an entire season.

I attribute another 2 reasons for Rex's success in his rookie HC year. He doesnt care about character! Yep, throw it out the door and give me the best talent I can get. The other, well he puts his best talent on the field and keeps them there. D Will shows up and kills it for a 3 game stretch in Claytons abscence....what do we do when Mark got back.....BENCH WILLIAMS? why? he was keeping defenses honest and actually getting deep. Nah, we would much rather have Mark Clayton in the game who is averaging just under 3 catches a game because he might finally decide to play football today. I was appauled when people wanted to hang Williams for not making one circus type catch. Then where did he go? Back to the bench. I dont know where our offense is going, but by the time we have one in place, Ray Rices legs are going to be useless and Flacco is going to be so banged up its not funny.

Lastly, "Play Like A Raven" what does that mean? Surely Harbaugh brought that saying here but he doesnt know what its like to play like a Raven. When our Defense was MURDEROUS and a nightmare for anyone to step on the field against. To get in there and destroy an opposing QB's confidence and just all out POUND THE ROCK down the oppositions throats! Yeah, he wasnt here for any of that.

In closing, I would like to say I have been on this board for 2 years now and I just cannot believe what goes through peoples minds with the purple shades. Pull them up to have a glimpse of what I just laid before you. Feel free to neg me for you are only denying yourself the truth
