Jets=Bitter Sweet

With the jets winning and going to the AFC championship game it made my stomach turn but at the same time you gotta be happy for Rex....Personally i don't think they should be there but they proved me wrong and proved others wrong...In my opinion Sanchez is overrated yes he is in the situation flacco was in with a great run game and AMAZING defense, but in my eyes i don't think that kid is going to be nothing great....I was never a fan of him at USC even though he played 14 games...He got a lot more weapons around him than flacco....My hat is off though to Rex, Bart, Jim they play with power and passion every down.....

Well get em' next year!!!
Lets hope for a great off season this year...

He got more weapons because his front office took the initiative to know that a young QB doesn't make the WR's around him better with his inexperience. Take a page Ravens FO not every QB starts out as a Peyton Manning in his prime.

Man, that Jets D is vicious. Mattison needs to learn from Rex about blitzing more often.
[/quote]

Well, they can afford to do that thanks to Revis. Rex said it himself, Revis impacts the plays that are called rather than vice versa.

I like the edge from Sanchez. He's going to be a good QB in the league and for the team that the Jets are, he fits them. His attitude and play style almost fits what the defense is about.

Savage is right, Rex took the Ravens formula and then made it better by giving him Edwards. Now Edwards may not catch everything, but he forces the defense to be honest. Rex isnt afraid to go out and make deals to make his team better instead of hoping the draft produces a WR that Mark needs, I applaud him for that. And Chi, your right about Joe and Marks attitudes being different but I think last night when Flacco was lighting into Cam that we saw a glimpse of how fed up Flacco was with their current situation and lack of weapons on offense.

I wonder if, behind closed doors Cam and Joe actually talk about how they DONT have the players to be explosive on offense and they just feed us this crap to not air it out in the public?

Yeah? You like his numbers better too? 12 TDs and 20 interceptions. There is NOTHING he does better, he has more weapons.

They took advantage of a weak Bengals team and a soft Chargers team.

That's a great thought...and i hope they do that for the sake of the teams and step up and spend some money like every other NFL team to get a great player we cant rely on rice every game and every down that's just embarrassing....Good thought my man lets hope its true.......

Thats my take too, it's just soo damn frustrating. I wonder if these practice squads kids can make it on the depth chart next year?

Ya we didnt overpay for Hartwell, or Baxter, or AD, and we were basically forced to let Adams and Starks go. Sharper was taken by the Texans in that expansion draft. But really do you think Baxter wanted to goto the friggen Browns, as a competitor? You think Hartwell wanted to goto the aweful Falcons? Ya they wanted to get paid, who doesnt, but I dont think for a second they wouldnt have stayed for a lesser deal if they thought we could win and win now. Starks and Adams already won so maybe they just wanted to get paid lol. Maybe AD knew something we didnt. Man the offseason makes me depressed lol.

I know we can develop defensive players but offensive players are the concern, IMO.

I agree, but we havent had a linebacker opposite Suggs, close to Boulware or ADs ability. We also havent had a #2 corner on our team like Baxter since he left (save for 06 with Rolle). The ILB spot I have no worries we can develop talent with because part of the job is handled by Lewis. Hartwell, Scott, now Ellerbe a true rookie played well. Its the other positions we havent been able to replace as dynamically.

The Jets deserve to be in the AFCCG as much as we deserved it last year; the bottom line for me is that they're quite obviously not good enough to win the Super Bowl, and the act of only allowing below 20 points, yet not forcing an extreme amount ofturnovers, while getting the offense to convert just barely when needed is inevitably going to fall apart at some point in a four game stretch against the best of the best.

They're literally a carbon copy of our team from 2008, and although it is a great building block for their franchise, it's pretty apparent that New York's style, and by style I mean inability to drive when needed, will catch up to them as it did last year for us.

If the Jets had the defense that we did in 2000, then they would stand a chance, but as it stands right now, their defense isn't dynamic enough to dominate a game so throughougly and make up for such a lackluster offense.

Sanchez throwing for 98 yards is reminiscent of the Flacco from last year, as if their defense being solid yet not spectacular.

The Colts, or New Orleans/Minnesota if they get to Miami, are just going to put too much pressure on the Jets offense, so despite the quite real possibility that New York contains their opponents to a reasonable score, i.e. under 24 points, Sanchez and co. can't match that.

Honestly, everything I said could be applied to our team last year, and even this season because of the lack of wide receivers.

I agree, but we know how deficient we have been for offensive development. Besides Heap, its been pretty barren.

Dude, calm down. I said ATTITUDE. That's it. He has a swagger, whether he did a poor job or won the game for his team. Joe doesn't have it. Only time I see him shout is when he gets angry for screwing up.

Rex is making a strong case that he should have been the HC for Baltimore.

We should learn from this team.

Learn from this team? Rex took what we did last year and is applying it in NY....people really dont understand that we couldnt hire Rex, not that we didnt want to as our HC. We needed a different type of HC, Rex is basically Billick except on defense,,,and that he actually can run one side of the ball.

I don't see what's bitter sweet about the Jets winning. They have a supremely talented D and arguably the best running game in the league. They used the same formula the Ravens did to advance to the AFC 'chip last year.

I'm happy Rex had had immediate success but other than that, I really don't care.

What are you talking about? Rex has done the same thing Harbaugh did last year. And even if he advances to the Super Bowl, it'll be because of a top-flight D and two bruising RBs.

I'm not saying he isn't a good coach but the majority of the pieces were already in place for that team to be successful. Let's not forget that the Jets were considered Super Bowl contenders last year before Favre's arm fell off. Rex inherited a good team.

That's the sole reason I want Indy to advance to the SB.

After last nights loss to of all teams, The Colts, it took me a while to get my stomach settled enough to even think about reading or writing on this subject. After watching today's games I remembered that The Ravens could have replaced Billick with Rex Ryan before they went and hired outside the franchise. It's difficult to believe that the folks in the front office couldn't secure Rex as the next head coach. Maybe it was the knee jerk reaction, at the time to just do something completely different and new. But Ryan was such a spirit within the organization. Today's Jet victory over the very balanced Chargers makes me think that Ryans is indeed very special. I am glad for him. But I would rather have seen him as head coach in B-more than having two John Harbaughs. Something is missing within the Raven organization in terms of drive or spirit. On again, off again performance is what it looks like on the outside. And I know the Jets had some problems during the season and may not have even been in the play offs if The Colts had not thrown the game by taking all the starters out, but they will still be in the mix next week. If The Ravens ever get another opportunity in the coaching department like Rex they should jump on it. For the present I think we are stuck with Harbaugh and company and that is not very likely to produce anything more than we've seen. At least, that's my opinion for what it's worth.

I started that topic a year ago, and still stand by the statement. Isnt it kinda funny the jets play and act like the ravens of last year? The defense, the offense , and the swagger. The phrase play like a raven dont even apply to us, it applies to the jets. We got changed from a murder of ravens into a church full of choir boys, thanks harbs...love the new attitude buddy.

I would love to see Indy face New Orleans in the Superbowl. Not sure what the line would be but I would take the OVER on the game.

I dont understand why people hate on Sanchez or the Jets. I mean Rex had a lot to do with us going to the AFCCG. If they beat the colts next week, I will be so happy. That defense is insanely good and Sanchez is statistically better than Flacco whether you compare him to Joe's rookie post season stats or this years post season stats.

I really like Sanchez. He has a lot of energy and seems like the heart of the team. He is having fun out there.

+1, totally agree. I was saying the same thing when we fired Billick. Harbs took away this teams swag.

Being a big Rex Ryan fan I am happy the Jets are in the championship game.
Sorry he left Baltimore. He just may take the Jets all the way. I like his confidence - that is what you need to get ahead.
