Could You Be A Referee ?

9 posts in this topic

Assuming you could easily learn and understand all the rules and you were in good phsicial condition to perform the needed tasks.

Could you be a fair and unbias referee in the NFL?

Me? No freaking way. I have too many opinions of too many players and teams to even be remotly fair. Cept for maybe a small hand full of teams. Bills and the Jags is one game I could care less either way. I would be fair on that one.

I don't think I would make a good ref. There are so many teams that I don't like, and there are so many players that I don't like.

I would like to ref a Steelers game, I would screw them really bad each game.

Easily. Yeah it would hurt to call penalties against teams like the Ravens, but its my job and they shouldn't be putting themselves in those kind of situations.

no i could never be fair i would always be favoring my team. those guys do have a hard job but the nfl needs to get some younger guys out there that can keep up with the speed of the game.

Absolutely not. In fact, I would be the first ref in professional sports history to be fired for giving candy to anyone sacking Brady or Manning (Peyton variety). By the same token, anyone committing a stupid personal foul would get his ear chewed off for a hour or so and possible put in time out.

Nope, no reffing for moi.

I could do it for teams that aren't the following:
Ravens, Steelers, Browns, Bengals, Colts, Patriots, Cowboys, or Redskins.
I'm too biased with those teams, but for everyone else I will be fine.

I absolutely could NOT be a referee. In a basketball league we had in the Army, where each team had to give up a player as a ref for another game, I'd let so many fouls go that teams would lose their minds on me... and then I'd just say, "Suck it up and keep playing! No blood, no foul!"

I think the same way about the Brady rule. Don't walk onto the field if you don't expect to get hit. No one is making you hold onto the ball...

Yeah, I'd be really bad at being a referee.

I couldn't do it. I could see me tripping T.O., dancing with Ochocinco, maybe yelling back at Tom Brady," man up sissy!" The first Indy game they put me on they would set a new record for most penalty yards in the history of the league! Nope not me, I'm just way to biased!
