Brady Versus Manning

36 posts in this topic

personally in my opinion they are both great quarter backs yes brady has more superbowl wins but the quarter backs do not win the superbowl alone "hense the ravens superbowl win" brady had a very off day in our playoff game and we brought the pain on die hard aggresive football, peyton is known for the long ball and wins games that way, hopefully ed reed being healthy will stop that with the help of landry and foxworth

Manning was a choker and Brady was clutch because the Patriots beat the Colts twice in the playoffs in Foxboro in horrible conditions. The one time the two played in Indianapolis in the playoffs, the Colts won.

Ya but thats part of being good you have to be able to play in all conditions, not just perfect no wind and 75 degrees. It was below freezing for Brady as well.

Manning is the best in the NFL. SB wins for a QB are overated. Why is that noone talks about Terry Bradshaw one of the best? Its a team that wins SBs. When the Pats had Willie McGinest someone asked him if Manning played for the Pats and Brady played for the Colts who would win? He said we would win have a better team. The Pats had a great defence. Peyton gave his team 2 chances to win and Vanderjagt missed to FGs (2000 WC game and against the Steelers, plus lets not forget the game against the Pats that made the NFL change the rule for pass interference(the Patroit rule)where the Pats defenders were all over the Colts Wrs and TEs all the way down the field. In terms of the stats, Manning blows Brady completely out of the water. As of 2007 the fact is that throughout Brady's entire career he has had a defense ranked consistently in the top 10. Manning thought 9 years Manning had that once. The year Manning won the SB his D surrendered 173 rushing yards a game. Peyton calls his own plays. You always hear them say Peyton is the hardest working, best perpared QB in football. Manning through 192 games QB rateing 95.2 Brady 129 games 93.3 and Manning has 2313 more passing attempts. Manning has 20,000 more passing yards and 161 TDs more then Brady. Manning had more 4th quarter comebacks then Brady as well. Manning is only 32 and already passed Montana who retired @ 38 with 31 comebacks.

The Colts had a top ten scoring defense in 2008, 2007, 2005, and 2002. Indy's defense may not have impressed many people in the regular season of 2006, but they were the best defense in the postseason. Peyton Manning, on the other hand, looked like a mere mortal with 3 tds and 7 ints.

Now obviously the majority of people on pigskin planet agree that Manning (of the .500 postseason record) is greatest thing since the forward pass, but let's not pretend like he's never had any good defenses.

Im not saying your wrong here, because you basically decided this argument with this post so thats impressive lol. But if Brady had a hall of famer (Marvin Harrison) and the all time leading receiver from the University of Miami(Reggie Wayne) and one of the best receiving TE's of the last 10 years....I think Brady would have comparable stats. Yes Brady had an outstanding defense for 6 years but I dont think you can blame Brady for that.
