Ok you got me with Plamer on the HT part. But do you really think because a new kid has a moment in a blow out game. He should be anointed????

I am so mad. I heard the announcers say on Sunday night, Troy would not come in unless Boller was hurt- from Billick.

It was nearing the end of the game when I went to sleep, because I had to get up early the next day. Well I missed Troy play and get a TD. I am so mad!

There's highlights on youtube already. Someone else posted the link and I'm going to decide to be too lazy to do the same.

One question, I keep asking my self about Troy is his height? If he was QB in college and did a good job, what would his height have to do with anything? The players in college are the same players that are now in the NFL (if lucky enough), they were they same height then as now, its not like they came out of college and grew 10 inches or Troy shrunk by 10 inches...so I say lets move past the excuse of height being a factor, it obviously was no problem in college, so unless were going to be putting stilts on players, I don't see them getting any taller..

I say give Troy a chance to prove his self, even though he was only in a few minutes Sunday, just as in his college days, no receiver open, score the damn TD yourself...Way To Go Troy !!!!

Lines in the NFL are much bigger than in college. A college team may have one really big guy on the line whereas in the NFL they're ALL big.

We'd take Brian Brohm before Woodson. We'd take Matt Ryan before Woodson.

i dont even know how the "experts" decide which qb is better than the other in college football they all look the same talent wise to me

You know, i can honestly see Troy Smith being the future of this ball club. Along with a reciever that i dont think anyone thinks about, a reciever that'll be Troy's Randy Moss, Devard Darling, anyone agree?

Those stats can be misleading though. OSU had a cupcake season last year so the stats blew up. Being a pocket passer in the NFL is different than college now that ALL of his linemen are taller than him and he has a giant D-line in his face - makes it hard to see downfield. Again, not to take anything from Troy but he just hasn't proved himself yet in the NFL. Everyone sees Troy get a TD and they immediatley want him in. Everyone thought Boller was an answer but as last game showed us he is the same ol Boller - Amazing QB one game and horrible the next. Lets take it slow with Troy - No need to feed him to the dogs when we have 3/4 year to get him ready for next year. If McNair is healthy next year he will start.

Are you serious?

OSU played the #2 team in the country three times last season. They played Texas IN Austin the second week of the season, and handled them pretty well, and then beat Michigan in what was called the matchup of the two best teams in the country at the time, and then of course played some game down in Arizona against a team that I can't recall at the moment..... ;)

But besides the three #2 matchups, they also beat #24 Penn State, and then won @ Iowa. You have to remember that at that time Iowa was undefeated and the #13 team in the country. And then of course they still had the rest of their Big 10 schedule to deal with, which was a much stronger conference last year than it is right now.

To say that OSU had a "cupcake" schedule in 2006 is ridiculous. And i'm not buying the arguement that the NFL linemen are suddenly too big for Troy to see over. Here is the offensive line that Troy played behind at Ohio State for his senior year...

LT: Alex Boone - 6'8" 313 lb.

LG: Steve Rehring - 6'8" 329 lb.

C: Doug Datish - 6'4" 302 lb.

RG: T.J. Downing - 6'4" 305 lb.

RT: Kirk Barton - 6'6" 310 lb.

That's a pretty damn big O-line, and Troy didn't have too hard of a time seeing over them as he won the Heisman Trophy. Don't see how that factor would really change that dramatically in the NFL.

i can agree with you both.....i do fore see Troy as being the Future Quarterback of this team with the way he has progressed on a steady, increased basis and was able to go out there, get the job done and done WELL. when he heard his name called....and that showed the players on the team, the coaching/training staff and what not....that Troy is indeed making great strides in his developing NFL Quarterback Form and development...

The thing about Boller is that every snap is an adventure. You have no idea whats gonna happen next. Something awesome? Something awful? Nothing at all? All of the above are very real possibilities.

Last year when Boller replaced McNair in a game, my friends and I cringed with every snap (because he has a 10% career snap-fumble rate) and it made for an exciting, if not nerve wracking game.

All come on now. Get real. He's a rookie that came in a blow out game in the forth quarter. So he had a few good min.'s. How many other QB's have done the same thing over the years and are still in the game???? Does any one remember Stony Case??? Let him start a meaningful game when it counts. Then if he shows up. Then talk about him being the future. I also don't see any other Heinemann trophy winners QBing any games for any other teams or even on any teams..

ever heard of Carson Palmer

Darling and Williams will both become great receivers not to mention Clayton...that alone will make for a potent receiving core that I say will be under-rated for at least 3 years until we get credit. I think Ozzie passed up on being a brain surgeon to set Troy up to be our franchise QB. Yea Smith is nasty it just can't be refuted but he was surrounded by some wicked receivers in college. Ozzie is working on making him feel at home as he has us more than square with Smith tossing it to Clayton, Williams, and Darling (yes-in that order) and McGahee will add exponential value to this brilliantly built soon-to-be strong passing game...Everyone says we're an old team and yea that's very true but the re-model is under-way. Has anyone else noticed Ozzie's rebuilt offense on the verge of exploding? These guys are all very young and equally talented. So provided that we keep them they will progress together quite well.

Oh yea and as for those highlights go to nfl.com, search troy smith, click on videos...it of course is under week 14:troy smith highlights...I think I've seen it 14 or 15 times now.

we all have seen Troy's potential of kind of player he actually is...and with the added practice and conditioning and what not, he seems to be getting better each and every day...though you may not hear about that part of it because right now, everyone is focused on the bad points of the season and not so much the good points and development that certain players have made since coming here

I got a glimpse of him to day and I will now sign. I do want to see more because to me he looked better then Boller and the team really rallied around him.

im all for that

I agree, we need a real offensive coordinator before Troy gets ruined. Troy is the future we don't need McNabb we need a new coach.
