Trent Dilfer

Awesome, he got lucky and was our QB that won the SB. Im glad for that, but does anyone else agree that NFL Live is a horrible show with him and Trey Wingo BOTH on it? Dilfer is kind of annoying.

Trent should get a gig from IHOP the next time they have a big waffle promo. Sure he won a Super Bowl with us, but as an analist he seems to go back and forth so much it all most makes you dizzy. Though to his credit he is far from the worst in a season where Raven bashing has been taken to an art form. Experts, HA!

...Maybe a bit off topic...I was at the Smithsonian Saturday, wearing my Ravens jacket proudly...A woman came up to me and said, "I went to church with Trent Dilfer's mother, you remember him? he was the quarterback that took the Ravens to the superbowl. Then you guys cut him the following year."

Yes Ma'am, I remember him and as an analyst he should be cut again...(no offense to the mother of cours)

How can guys dislike Trent Dilfer as an analyst...he's stated numerous times that he's biased to the Ravens and I've seen lots of times where his bias is evident...just this week alone he had a grin ear to ear while being able to talk about the Ravens beatig the pats..

For all his waffling I do appreciate his honesty and his avoidance of rhetoric.

I agree with this. I actually think he is the best person they have. I don't care how good he was in the NFL, the fact that he was one of the 30 best QBs in the world for almost a decade makes him qualified to talk about the NFL.

I love the insight he gives. WAY BETTER than keyshawn, TJ, or Boomer. They just say all the things that we already know.

I wonder if he'll ever get over being let go after the SB year? This is a business and we made a business decision, however unpopular it may have been. I, for one, didn't agree with the move, but we've moved on and so should Trent.

I didn't agree with his release either. But the grudge is glaring. He needs to let that go.

Wasnt it strictly a player and talent move? I didnt think the business had anything to do with it, contracts that kinda stuff.

Because he was a starter in the NFL. I didn't say he was one of the best 30 QBs IN the decade, but he was an NFL starter for almost a decade.

If you can start games in the NFL for that long, you know how to play the game.

Why Not?

I seriously don't get why people wonder why we weanted to let him go.

1. He DEMANDED to be a starter. We wanted him as a backup and he refused.

2. Elvis Grbac was a free agent and had just gone to the Pro Bowl.

3. We were 10-6 that year WITH TERRY ALLEN RUNNING THE BALL. What do you think our anemic offense would have been without Jamal Lewis and Priest Holmes with Dilfer as our QB.

It is simple. Grbac was the better Quarterback. Dilfer knew that but wouldn't accept it. If Jamal Lewis stayed healthy and Grbac didn't have to throw the ball 40-50 times a game, we would have won 13-14 games at least and I believe repeated as champs.

Ahh, okay, alright. For a second I thought he had done some extraordinary things I wasn't aware of. Thanks for clearing that up.

Am I really the only one that sees dilfer has a positive bias to the Ravens..Hell he's even admitted it...both him and Shannon sharpe have talked about how their bias to the Ravens on air...so where is this grudge that dilfer shows us when he's on TV...if anything he's like Troy Aikman when he does Cowboy games...he's overly critical bc that's his team...Yes dilfer did have a grudge but now every other word out his mouth is "when we won the superbowl"

trust me guys...he loves the Ravens watch him alittle more

it's like having a two week relationship with Halle berry and then she breaks up with you...you'll be pissed at first but when you get over it you'll brag everyday about it..

I far as I am concerned his analyst skills are fine - better than half the other fools on there. And he has my total respect as the only Ravens QB to win a Superbowl. What more does he have to do as a player to gain the fans respect and admiration???

I've actually enjoyed Dilfer's analysis on ESPN. He was one of the few national analysts that seemed outraged about the preferential treatment Brady received in the first Ravnes-Pats game. He breaks down plays clearly and actually knows what he's talking about.

I didn't understand him giving the Ravens zero chance to win on Sunday but who cares? The boy proved him wrong.

Name one SB (or any other) team that kept all 53 players on their roster from one year to the next. There are none.

Dilfer wanted more money than the Ravens were willing to pay a guy to hand off to Jamal Lewis.

Thank goodness we had Grbac when Jamal was hurt as the Ravens became a pass first team. With Elvis we made the playoffs and beat Miami in the first round. Think about it, Dilfer QB'ing a pass first team

I always remembered the collective gasps when he went back to pass and the shock of when one was actually completed.

I just think the show is kind of corny. Tom Jackson takes the right approach to the show while Trey Wingo has no business on there and just yells out stupid catch phrases that never "catch." Trent is kind of a toned down version of Trey Wingo. The style of the show is not very serious and they dont really do much that helps me determine anything about another team.

They show highlights and are basically terrible Chris Berman's.

Grbac gets dissed more than he deserves. We went 10-6 and won a play-off game, after all, and four of those wins Grbac led the team from behind to pull it out.

However, Dilfer wasn't quite that woeful at QB, either. After throwing a pick-six at Tennessee, for instance, Dilfer calmly led the team on an eighty yard scoring drive, hitting Patrick Johnson in the end zone to get the lead back.

I'd've kept Dilfer, myself. Our line stunk at pass blocking, and Dilfer was tough as nails. Grbac...not so much...

Dilfer didnt want more money, he was already under contract and we released him from the contract. I dont remember him wanting more.
