Is Kurt Warner

22 posts in this topic

After watching yesterdays great Cardinals - Packers game I was wondering do you think Kurt Warner deserves to go into the HOF when he retires?

I think he deserves it 100% Kurt Warners story to the NFL is such a great one, Warner was 27 when his NFL career got started, and 28 when he became a full time starter. He has done more in a decade than some people have done in a career.

Some Kurt Warner stats & achievments (he has a lot more that I didn't list.)

65.5 career comp %

32,344 career passing yards

93.7 career QB rating

208 career passing TD

2 x AP MVP

Super Bowl XXXIV MVP

5 x Pro Bowl selection

I think the game of his career was yesterday.

29/33, 379 YDS, 5 TD, 154.1 RATING
Just amazing if you ask me.

If that isn't a Hall of Fame resume, I don't know what is. To be a two-time MVP winner, to have taken two different franchises to the Super Bowl and made three trips, to have won the Super Bowl MVP trophy after coming out of obscurity...what more does this guy have to do?

Not only did he win one SB but his teams had the lead or was tied with under 1 minute to go in the two other SBs (lost on last minute FG by the Pats and the last minute TD by Pitt).

I think Kurt is one of the most deserving guys currently active. It's hard to argue with the resume of a guy that took two dire teams and got them to the superbowl, as great offensive teams. Tough to make the 'system' argument against a guy that's turned around 2 franchises.

Without a doubt first ballot HOF'er. He also holds 3 of the top 4 super bowl performances ever by a QB. To say he shows up when you need him is a vast understatement.

Remember this guy was destined to be a grocery store bagger after he went undrafted. He is the ultimate Undrafted free agent. Anything other then first ballot for Warner would be a disgrace with what he has done to make any offensive system look amazing. When a player leaves a team and then that team spirals out and can't muster anything near 4 wins or more(Rams) obviously he made that team look good.

Rams Seasons with Warner
13-3
10-6
14-2
7-9
12-4
Rams after Warner
8-8
6-10
8-8
3-13
2-14
1-15

Cardinals before Warner
4-12
6-10
5-11
5-11
Cardinals with Warner starting
8-8
9-7
10-6

pretty darn good for a single player having that much of an impact.

its not that he took two franchises to the super bowl. but he took the cards to the superbowl!!! the cards. i mean come on. even with their great wide outs they couldnt even make the playoffs.
hes like a poor mans manning, take him off that team and they go back to being the cards of old. he is that team as much as manning is the colts.
that fact he took the cards to the superbowl should get him in! but i dont see a reason not to put him in, hes clutch in the playoffs

Yup, his post-season numbers are insane. As previously mentioned, he is extremely clutch in the playoffs.

How insane is it that he was stocking groceries before getting called to come in and play for St Louis?

Definitely HOF. First Ballot

Well, we'll see if he's HoF worthy but

he's officially retired now. Just saw it via mobile alert.

However I wouldn't put it past the Associated Press to snub him

I mean for crying out loud, they didn't give 1 vote to Chris Johnson for MVP for breaking the 2k mark...

He's accomplished alot in his career that would make me say yes, I only wonder if he would be a first ballot selection? You know how those voters can be.
