I wanted the Bengals to win. I was hoping for a possible (but unlikely) playoff rematch, in a way.

More than that, though, I wanted the Jets to lose. The Mark Sanchez lovefest kills me. theFRANCHISE hates The "Sanchise." Stupid nickname. -_-

Perhaps the Ravens will have a shot at them if the Jets make it that far which I seriously doubt. It is one thing to beat a Carson Palmer who can't seem to get the ball within ten feet of his recievers. It is another to face Rivers.

Oh I WILL be cheering LOUDLY for the Chargers next week, believe you me.

The absolute lack of appreciation for Rex Ryan is astonishing. I'm thankful for what he did while he was here, and hope he has a hell of a coaching career.

You'd go as far as to root for a divisional rival just to see a former beloved coach of ours lose. Just wow, Franny. That is cold.

Im happy for the Jets. I wanted Rex Ryan to be our head coach and he is showing his football knowledge in the post season. Sanchez was 12/15 today, and looked pretty poised.

Jets played great football. If we lose to the Pats, the Jets are the only team I can cheer for cuz Peyton and Brady are D-bags and Phillip Rivers is such a cry baby and I cant stand him at all.

I'm appreciative of Rex Ryan for what he did here -- but does that mean I also root for Jack Del Rio, Mike Smith, Mike Nolan, Marvin Lewis, and other former Ravens' coaches? How about former players who served us well? Do I root for Ed Hartwell? Gary Baxter? Adalius Thomas?

Yes, I'm rooting for a divisional rival to see a former coach of ours lose. Yes, it's cold, but I've made that known since preseason.

1) I have a strong dislike of how Rex Ryan has conducted himself since leaving, and if he publicly acted that way in Baltimore, I'd bury my face in my hands. Thank goodness he didn't have that opportunity since he didn't have a microphone in front of his face every week like he does now.
2) I dislike the media coverage of Mark Sanchez given that the guy barely played in college and was handed everything on a silver platter. Sure, he may do a lot of good for his community -- but that doesn't excuse the relatively easy road he took to the NFL, and the comparisons to Joe Flacco kill me.
3) Though the constant comparisons to the Jets and Ravens should be flattering, they're anything but when you consider the circumstances in which Bart Scott left, igniting a bidding war that was all a smokescreen when he had no intention of returning to Baltimore.

Just because the Bengals are our division rival, doesn't mean I have to root for them to fail at every turn. Besides, if the Bengals were to lose to any team, wouldn't you want them to lose to us?

I know were upset about losing Ryan to the Jets but come on now. If anyone has a chance to stop either Rivers and co. or Peyton Manning it would be the Jets defense. Id give anything to play the Jets in the AFC Championship game and remind them where the real defense lays.

I personally do appreciate what Rex did here. But he's NOT here anymore and he turned into a loudmouth. When he disrespected Ravens players, I was done respecting him, plain and simple.

Franny you say it the best. What he said! :D

Id say it would be more of a personal thing for us to take out Rex Ryan, Bart Scott etc. And a lot of the newer fans know about Rex Ryan and his recent departure from our franchise, but not as much as Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan and so fourth so i can see why it would be more of a personal factor because its fresh, nobody cares about who won the superbowl 10 years ago but they want to take out the team that JUST stabbed them in the back.. Just IMO

Why would we cheer for a guy who has bad mouthed Baltimore his first season away from the franchise? From saying he should of been the HC, and Bart saying he was the HC last year, to saying Revis is more dominating than Lewis and Reed ever were. There is a difference between being confident and saying "yes i believe we can win this game", to one week saying "we're out of the playoffs" and then claiming to be the favourites to win it all. Whats astonishing is Rex's lack of appreciation for the Ravens franchise, he says he does and then 2 weeks later says something completely opposite.

Edit- for the guys who wanted Rex as the HC, Bischiotti (sp) had no choice, he had to go in a different direction. Rex would have been Billick on steroids.

I AGREE 100%
Rex was our man! and for him to leave and do well...we all should be applauding that cat for his success this year. however, if he was to face the Ravens...then that would be a different story!

GOOD JOB REX!

P.S. now the Ravens should use that Jets win as an incentive to put up a "W" on the Patriots for the 1st and in their house at that!

It should be no surprise the Bengals where gonna lose, they may make it to the playoffs but they can't play.

Jackson has the size and strength to beat Revis's press, he also has an extreme height and vertical advantage over Revis something Rivers is not hesistant to just throw one up. Revis shut down Andre Johnson and Randy Moss so it is entirely possible. Rivers also has Gates, and Malcom Floyd who had almost 800 yards receiving. Their 3rd receiver is Nannee who has about 6 inchs and 40 pounds on Jim Leonhard who was in man coverage all game today against the Bengals 3rd receiver. Now the Chargers wont be able to run the ball for shoot against the Jets, which means this potential game is on their O-line and their WR's ability to get separation.

Well you guys can bash Ryan all you want but the fact is he did what we couldn't. #1 Defense. Beat the Bengals in Cincy. Won a playoff game, which we may or may not do.

Anything negative y'all say about him is just sour grapes, pure and simple jealousy. Hell, I'm jealous of him, but I also respect him a lot and am happy for his success.

If we lose tomorrow, then the Jets are the AFC team I'm rooting for. Peyton's our nemesis, and the Chargers are SoCal dbags(and I live in SoCal).

Edit- with Revis i'd argue the Ravens would be the #1 defense this year Rex-less as well.

Sour grapes? Sure, I'll take that.

But to say that I wish he was our head coach, I won't go so far. (I know you didn't explicitly say that, I'm just addressing other people's implications.) I'm not jealous of the Jets, I merely resent them. I resent the arrogance of the Jets fans I personally know, and how they are singing the praises of a team that has no business being in the playoffs, no more than Baltimore has any reason to be there this year. But at least Baltimore's spot can be justified -- can anyone really say the same about the Jets, after winning and losing in the fashion that they have this year, to the teams they've faced? At least the Ravens have lost to winning teams, even if they've also beaten losing teams.

HUH? How is the Jets' spot not justified? Because the Bengals laid down in week 17? Well I think their wild card victory MORE than justifies them being there.

I can see you saying their spot wasn't justified if they got beat by the Bengals, but considering you're saying it after they went into Cincinatti in a playoff game and pretty much ran them through...I just don't get it.

Antonio Gates, Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naanee, Darren Sproles and LT out of the backfield for starters. It's pick-your-poison time.
Philly managed to do it only to have LT run for 97 yards on them.

You really have not seen the Chargers play this year, have you?

They lost to the Bills at home, got swept by the Dolphins after talking lots of trash, and lost to the Falcons after Atlanta was just eliminated from playoff contention. And through it all, they managed to make it in by virtue of the Colts laying down and the Bengals playing half-hearted the first time around. Though their wins are wins nonetheless, their second victory over the Bengals does nothing to justify their spot in my eyes -- but that's just me.

Like I said, I harbor this grudge against the Jets and Rex Ryan for my own reasons. You won't change my mind and I won't change yours, nor are we trying to do that to one another. But I cannot, in good conscience, jump on the bandwagon of using old loyalty to root for our former coaches and players when they are our competition. Rex Ryan owes us nothing, so why should we owe him anything back? He left us, so if he's not with us, he's against us. Until he retires or returns to Baltimore, he is no longer a Raven and is not owed any loyalty whatsoever, regardless of his accomplishments.

Or are we also expected to root for Jamal Lewis to succeed with the Browns? We love J-Lew, but doesn't mean we want to see him win another championship outside of Baltimore.

Not really. The defense is playing a lot better (16.7 PPG allowed) and the offense is playing better as well. Norv's playcalling is much better and so is Ron Rivera's. The O and D-lines were a mess due to injuries back then.

The Charger team you saw in Week 2 doesn't begin to compare with the team now.
