Rex Ryan...

20 posts in this topic

Wish the guy was still here. Not because our D sucks or because I feel the team is struggling because we really arent, but watching his Jets team shows how great of a coach he really can be.

Harbaugh is great and no complaints with him, but I wonder how our team would look if we had promoted Rex to HC? I just like the guy and he has a great job with the Jets. They are looking like what we should always be: top run game, top D.

I have been paying attention to their games a little just to see how Rex does and if we dont go all the way, I hope NYJ does.

.....is gone.

Let's stop these reminiscing threads about Rex Ryan.*yawn* it's getting tiresome.

If you love Rex Ryan so much, go become a Jets fan. Also, Rex needs to go on a diet, he is getting bigger and bigger with every passing game.

Go Ravens!

Our team could possibly be even more undisciplined with Rex Ryan at the helm, if that was possibe.

Rex Ryan was too close to the players. I know that the players prefer a players' coach, but players' coaches are usually too lenient.

I'll go one further. Our team would be very undisciplined if Rex was our head coach with all of our injuries this year.

If we were wishing for something, let's wish for Revis. You can do a lot when your CB can shut down the #1 receiver on whatever team you face. Jets have great personnel on defense.

And my request was answered. Thanks!

I'm sure we'll have a lot of these popping up in the general discussion if we lose tommorrow. Barf.

Not only that but Rex's scheme went to hell when we had the type of injuries we had this year, in 07.

I hope whoever they play next week smacks them around. It's gotten to a point where I can't stand Rex flapping his mouth off. Him being the second rookie coach to win to road playoff games with a rookie QB... just wanna smack him around.

Ryan isn't doing that great of a job as Head Coach, he wouldn't even be in the playoffs if the Colts hadn't given that game away with a bow tied on top of it. His defense is good, and his offense struggles in everything but the running game. Basically, the Jets have two defensive coordinator, because he certainly isn't excelling as a head coach.

He has the team motivated, having fun, and believing that they are going to win every game. They play every game with effort, and just handily beat a playoff team and our division winner two weeks in a row, which isnt easy to do when each teams have seen each other and what they are about. The head coach needs to have his team amped and ready to play, and Rex seems to be able to do that.

Im not saying I want him back here, unless it was at the DC spot. Just saying he is doing a fine job and his system is working well with his players. He isnt scared to talk a little **** to the big dogs of the league (New England) and then can actually go beat them. Give him some credit, its his first year and hes in the second round of the playoffs. We will see if we can say the same tomorrow.

I'm not giving him credit when he's only in the playoffs due to the Colts laying down, and seemingly the Bengals not playing their best in week 17. Ask anyone if they truly think New York is a playoff team. Good luck finding one person that says yes. Rex's Jets won't be able to do much against Rivers and the Bolts. His team that should be on the outside looking in is in for a rude awakening. And if they play the Colts... well, they'll get to see the true Colts all game long, not for just a half.

Rex's mouth isn't something many are happy to hear. He's more concerned about running his mouth than the game. Just because you're a head coach doesn't mean you need to always talk trash. Harbs doesn't do that, and he motivates just fine. Dungy never talked trash, and he had those Colts always inspired. Ryan's inspiring of his team is childish, ridiculous, and down right arrogant. His team wouldn't be anywhere near the playoffs if he didn't have that defense. Essentially, he's just a defensive coordinator for the Jets (with a loud mouth), god knows he doesn't know much of the offensive side of the ball. He's too concerned with what the press has to say, think, and hear than worrying about the game at hand. Go run to the press and tell them how you're going to shut down either Manning or Rivers now, Rex. I'd love to see all that egg on your face.

Wow Awaken, I wish I had more neg reps to give out.
He wins the wild card game in Cincy, and he's not doing a good job and doesn't deserve to be there.

THINK.

If we end up getting into the playoffs only because another team lied down, NOBODY on this forum would be saying we didn't deserve to be there. Every. Single. One of you would be saying "You can't help what other teams are going to do, you can only handle your own business."

I agree that you can't say the man isn't doing a good job. Just look at where the Jets were statistically speaking last year and where they are this season. He's done an amazing job there.

As for his mouth, I think it showed a lack of class to trash talk the Ravens' organization and team. I mean, he wouldn't even BE a HC except for the time he spent here. If he was pulling such antics and was still associated with the Ravens' organization, I would be ashamed. But he's not here anymore so I can shake my head and wonder where his is at when I hear the things he says but I find it hard to muster up some give a dang about it.

Aside from if we face the Jets in the Championship Game - I could care less if they advance or go home.

The Jets were 1 Favre meltdown from being in the exact same position they were this year. No doubt Rex changed their identity and strengths but I find it hard to blatantly say they are that much better this year than last year.

In 2008, Jets were ranked #16 overall defense, #29 passing defense and #7 against the run. This year they are ranked #1 overall defense, #1 against the pass and #8 against the run. I think that is fairly impressive.

Ya I gave Rex props for changing their strengths and identity, however the stats it doesnt change that the Jets were 1 game off the playoffs and 9-7 last year too. Thats all I was saying.

Nobody is saying Rex hasnt taken their Defense to the next level....just nobody appreciates how much of a dick he's been back to Baltimore.

Did I say he wasn't doing a good job? No, I said he wasn't doing a "great" job. Someone can be doing a "good" job, but not a "great" job. Do you understand the point of increments? So instead of being confrontational and attacking me because you're too deep in your own ideas that you need to attack me over mine. Especially when you apparently read one post by me and run with it. If you want to call me out, read everything I'd said, and pay attention. Because as I said, he isn't doing a "great" job. I did NOT say he wasn't doing a good job. I said he wasn't doing "that great a job", because he is not excelling as a head coach. He's just doing what he does best, defense.

It does amuse me that someone who once said what does it matter what someone else thinks about your post (in reference to pos's and neg's) to go out of their way to call me out and say they wish they had more neg's. It's called an opinion. Your's isn't right, neither is mine. Maybe you should start respecting them instead of attacking them. You're more than welcome to debate it though.

Anyways, I said the Jets are not a playoff team. The Jets. Not a playoff team. I'm not the only one who thinks that. I'm sure there's plenty of people who agree. But the truth is the Jets do not deserve to be in the playoffs. The fact of the matter is the Colts laid down and the Bengals flubbed yet again. The Ravens played all 16 games to get where they are.

Like I said, I'm not the only one who thinks that:
"The Jets really don't belong in the playoffs. They had performed poorly enough to miss the postseason, but benefitted from the Colts' decision to preserve their starters and received other mathematical help along the way."
Source

And you cannot be more wrong about how "If we end up getting into the playoffs only because another team lied down, NOBODY on this forum would be saying we didn't deserve to be there". I'm sorry, but I've seen quite the amount of Raven fans being critical about how the Ravens have played some weeks this season, even commenting on whether or not we play like we want to be in the playoffs. There's a fair amount of fans here who don't always blindly support how the Ravens play or what they do just because their fans. So I'm certain there would be more than just a few people commenting on whether or not the Ravens truly deserved a spot in the playoffs if we only got in because a team laid down.

Cheers. Oh, and I did have a neg, so you got it. Since you obviously want to play that game.

I just had no idea you could advance to the divisional round of the playoffs without being a playoff team.

As for the rest of your post: Cry. More.

Cry more? Is that your defense for everything? Because apparently whenever anyone disagrees with you, all you say is "cry more". Which is ironic, because frankly, half the time it's you "crying" about it. That's going by your definition of crying. You should be mature enough to accept other people's opinions and admit when you misunderstood without going out of your way to be rude to other's. You misunderstood what I had to say about Rex Ryan, said you wish you could neg me, then when I correct you on what I said, and restate my opinion on the Jets, you tell me to cry more? Grow up, buddy.

The Jets are a playoff team in the aspect that they are in the playoffs. But the way they performed on and off during the season, aren't exactly what's to be expected of a playoff team. Again, especially considering had the Colts not laid down, they would be 8-8 and NOT in the playoffs. That's not what a playoff team is. As for the Bengals, I'm quite sure a fair amount of people saw the Bengals as a "one and done" team. The fact that they lost isn't surprising. The Bengals are notorious for stumbling and flubbing, even after they perform quite well. They started their flub last week, and it continued into the Wildcard round. But at least they were more competitive this week. Now I'm tired of repeating myself to you. So have a good night and feel free to complain about what I have to say about my opinion.
