Philadelphia Eagle @ Dallas Cowboys Game Thread

121 posts in this topic

Wow Dallas is running away with this game early. Philly again chokes in the playoffs. New Decade, New Cowboys, they win in December and they look like they will finally win a playoff game in forever.

Now three questions, if Dallas wins tonight how long will Jerry Jones wait to give Miles Austin a shiny new contract? On the other hand, if they lose how long will Wade Phillips last before he is fired? Third, looking at the other posts, the only way Green Bay and Minnesota can meet is in the NFC Championship game right? I was thinking if they would have faced off next week if Dallas wins and Green Bay wins tomorrow but I wasn't sure. I'm not sure if I could take the ESPN over hype of a 3rd Pack-Vikings game.

P.S. Who's hoping Eron Riley or Justin Harper or Marcus Smith(I forgot he was on IR, so it should be interesting to see if he can bounce back from his injury) becomes the Miles Austin for the Ravens next year?

BS call. He was pushed by Choice. I knew this would happen. Patriots and Cowboys are the two golden teams of the NFL. Not even the Colts are. For some reason, they are the "chosen ones"

The only guy with the grit and physicality that Auston plays with is prob Smith. But hes not a hot route runner.

Yeah, that was a horrible call.

That one call doesnt excuse an entire half of dominance by the Cowboys for the Eagles. The Eagles Oline cant block a 4 man rush, and when Phillips sends more than 4 the line totally falls apart. As bad a HC as Phillips seems, he is a pretty good DC he sure has assembled some good defensive talent and the second half of this season knows how to use them.

Halftime.

What do you say to your team if you're Andy Reid?

We can either pack it up and god home right now, and lose by 20, or play the second half, and lose by a lot more.

I can picture Andy pointing to a picture of a rabid Philly fan and going "Look, somebody is out of a job, and it aint me! NOM NOM NOM"

I think being blown out is better. Then you can't look back. Then you can just state that you suck.
You and I have debated this before, but I think that losing close games are better because: 1) You have enough motivation to fight back the next time you're in a similar situation; and 2) being your own worst enemy means that you can fix your mess later and that the other team merely capitalized rather than straight-up embarassing you.

I can't stress enough how important it is to end the season on a proud note, even in a losing effort. You always need a foundation to build on for next season; otherwise, that lack of confidence can kill a team that's amped up for a season opener but has no idea what they're in for. Plus, uncertainty about a team's direction can make the offseason a long one.

And I recall having an argument with warden earlier in the season about the Cowboys' offense. He claimed they had no weapons and Romo sucked.

I SEE.

Boooo! These playoffs suck so far. Only thing that'll make them better is a Ravens win now.
This is what the wild card round is. Finding out who the pretenders are.

Bengals and Eagles are pretenders. Expect better games in the divisional round.

If there's one thing we can learn from this game it's that if you go into the post season with a one dimensional pass happy offense, you're not going anywhere fast.

I thought what Philadelphia would've learned from their week 17 beatdown is that they can't go out throwing the ball 60% of the time.

This has always been the problem in Andy Reid land.

This year when they went against the Raiders. Who have a good pass defense. They ran the ball only 11 times and lost. Go Figure Andy!

Unless your a Dallas fan, there's no point in watching this game anymore.
