Outstanding point - no day-to-day QB mentor means Joe has been on his own in that respect from day one. I feel bad for not remembering his name right off the top of my head (Bouman - took me a bit), but do you remember how close he was to the journeyman vet last year? I almost wish they would hire a second QB coach with extensive QB experience just to walk through with Joe some of the things he needs to see from a QB's eyes.

Hue is great but there's another level Joe is having to discover himself.

Yeah, I agree that Joe's transgressions can be blamed on the coaches. He is a young kid that needs help from the coaches. Maybe someone will finally step-up to give Joe the coaching he needs to be really sucessful.

Ok, first I'll start out saying the answer is no, he is not. He's about on average a 90 QB rating though, which for a second year QB is remarkable. Don't believe me? Well stats aren't everything, but I think looking at them is a good start. Brett Favre's first year in GB, his rating was 85.3 , only 5 points above Flacco's first year. He threw two more interceptions than Flacco, and only about 300 yards more. He threw only 40 yards more on average per game. Favre however, did this with more passing attempts per game than Flacco. Favre also had a mentor in his coach Mike Holmgen. Harbaugh's good, but not Holmgen good, plus Favre had the benefit of a veteran QB to give him pointers, which Flacco does not. Favre had Don Majik Man Majkowski, who was an outstanding veteran before being injured. Flacco doesn't have that to his advantage either. Yet...look how he matches Bret Favre's numbers.
One of the few QBs who out performs Flacco in their first two years is Ben from the Steelers. One thing I like though is that as a rookie, Flacco throws more deep passes more then most rookies. He threw more 20+ yard plays then Ben his second year, and more 40+ yard plays. He also matches the current Ben with an completion percentage of varying around, but not straying far from 65%. Throwing more long balls and maintaining he completion percentage shows how accurate Flacco usually is on the long ball. His worst long ball was one time this year where he just underthrew it, I believe against GB. And he throws no mre ints then an average QB in the league.
The point being: Flacco is starting out way ahead of the game, and the sky is really the limit. Greatest of all time? Idk, only time will tell. But I feel he will become a very dangerous elite QB as he progresses, and the Ravens would be smart to draft him a dangerous wideout to compliment him. Because while stats show some of the truth, we also have to realize that Favre and Ben had better recieving weapons, and still do, than Flacco. Clayton doesn't catch the ball with his hands as much as he does with his body. Prime example being the Patriots game. Mason is good but often double covered. Williams has potential perhaps, idk about Washington. But we have no real offensive weapons except mason and rice, and heap, although he is a TE, so he has to block too; he cna't always go out, plus he isn't very fast.
Flacco does need to learn pocket presence, but I like how poised he is. Maybe too poised. He doesn't panick, he doesn't go crazy like Boller. He's Joe cool. And don't worry, he'll learn to recognize blitzes. That's something that'll improve with age.
In conclusion though, Flacco has had an up and down year. But it's not all on him. The O line, play calling, and recievers were also sometimes to blame. This man has a bright future, and I'd bet it all on him becoming an elite QB before too long.

I think he is an elite QB, look at his numbers with basically no really good WR's. Yes Mason is serviceable, but he isn't a big YAC threat, nor is he a deep td threat. He is not particularly fast or able to cut the field anymore.

Clayton is a bum, has 2 or 3 good games a year, and Dwill hasn't really done anything. All Flacco needs is a good WR who has game changing ability. Look at all the other Elite QB's, Palmer has Ocho, Big Ben, has Holmes and even Wallace is a stud, Brady has Welker and Moss, all of these guys all have receivers who are game breakers. Im hard pressed to think of one elite QB who doesn't have a stud receiver.

You can't blame Joe when he laser's a pass to CLayton and he drops it, or when Mason drops a sure thing in the endzone. We need a new WR who can help Flacco stretch the field and maybe start throwing more bombs because lord knows he has the arm. When we pick up a stud receiver to compliment Flacco, im sure he will start putting up the numbers of some of these other guys.

They're TE definitly helped Brady out, Bennjamin Watson. Also their offensive line definitely held up better and more consitently than ours, which does better at run blocking than pass blocking. and Randy Moss definitely was a big factor in their success since they got him in 2007

He still needs a lot of development.
I just don't have this feeling of confidence in him in a 2-min drill or whatever clutch scenario, unlike elite QBs.

He will get there.

He is well on his way but this year we need to get him some weapons to work with. I would have taken Oher over Kenny Britt or Hakeem Nicks anyday so I cant fault Oz on that one. This year we break the WR curse!

+1
I thought the same thing. Tom Brady was the team in those years, along with a stout defense.
