Belichick: Broken Ribs “100% Wrong”

Yikes. I would not want to be former NFL GM Charley Casserly right now.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick isn’t happy and Casserly, the CBS analyst who reported before Sunday’s game that Tom Brady had three broken ribs, is to blame.

Belichick said Casserly’s report was “100% wrong.”

“There’s so much stuff out there that is so inaccurate that it’s comical,” Belichick said on WEEI via the Boston Globe.

“Who’s been wrong more than Casserly? His percentage is like a meteorologist. … He has no relationship with this team, less than zero.

“At least he put his name on it. I’ll put my name on it, too. He’s 100 percent wrong.”

Brady appeared on Friday’s injury report with a rib ailment, but started in the Patriots’ 34-27 loss to the Texans. The Pats’ quarterback reportedly broke the ribs in the preseason, then re-injured them in Week 2.  A reported finger injury occurred a month ago.

Speaking on WEEI himself, Brady insisted the injuries are in the past and won’t hamper him. “I’m feeling really good now,” Brady said on WEEI via Pro Football Talk.  “Everyone breaks bones over the course of the year.  This is the best I’ve felt in a while.”

Belichick Blames Welker’s Injury on Turf Conditions

After blasting Casserly, Belichick moved on to blast the turf conditions at Reliant Stadium and insinuated they might have led to Wes Welker’s season-ending knee injury, writes Boston Globe’s Adam Kilgore.

“The turf down there is terrible,” Belichick said. “It’s terrible. It’s just inconsistent. It’s all the little trays of grass, and some of them are soft and some of them are firm and they don’t all fit well together, those seams. Some of it feels like a sponge, some of it feels real firm and hard. One step you’re on one, the other step you’re on another. I really think it’s one of the worst fields I’ve seen.”

Tom Brady Aid

band-aidBroken ribs or no broken ribs, The Flock members on baltimoreravens.com are trying to have a sense of humor about the dilemma they see with the Ravens’ defense trying to put pressure on Brady Sunday without being flagged for roughing the passer penalties.

Some Ravens fans feel the NFL is overprotective Brady, who they now call the “Golden Boy.” Such a sentiment was artistically represented by Flock member itscbm5042. He/she submitted this photoshopped jpeg in a 2010 postseason Photoshop contest, while adding “I just hope the referees call a fair game.”

I’d like to add that this contest is not sponsored by the Ravens organization.

Three Reasons

Jamison Hensley of the Baltimore Sun gave three reasons why the Ravens, despite never beating New England, can pull of a the wild card victory on Sunday,

  1. The injury to wide receiver Wes Welker is an immeasurable loss to the New England offense.
  2. New England’s run defense appears vulnerable.
  3. The Ravens gained confidence after nearly beating the Patriots in Foxborough three months ago.

Jamal Lewis May Not Retire

After declaring that the 2009 season would be his last a few weeks ago, Browns RB Jamal Lewis now seems to be unsure about retirement.

“I don’t know when I come back over the off-season and sit back and think about things, if this is something I want to pursue as far as not playing or move on in my life,” Lewis said, via the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. “When I can get healthy again, that will be a decision I’ll have to sit back and make.”

Lewis ended the season on IR after suffering a concussion, but wants to see how his body responds before committing to more time in the NFL.

Billick or Cameron Ready for the Bills?

Paul Hamilton of WGR 550 sports radio in Buffalo reported that a league source said Ravens former head coach Brian Billick  is assembling a coaching staff for the Buffalo Bills head coaching vacancy.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk says that may be a smart move even though Billick is yet to interview for the position.

“The reality is that few candidates for the position of head coach enter the interview room without a firm plan for hiring key personnel to join him — and something more concrete than “well, I’ll call him if I get the job” strategy for landing assistant coaches.

“The men who get hired to be NFL head coaches are as prepared when they interview as they are for a Super Bowl. ”

Meanwhile, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said the Ravens have not been contacted by the Bills for permission to interview his offensive coordinator, Cam Cameron.

“Not that I’m aware of, no,” Harbaugh said. “Nothing has been done. Cam’s a great coach. I know him as a head coach. I worked for him for a year. I know his reputation.

“I’ve had a chance to be around him the last two years, probably as close as any two coaches can be. I’m more impressed with him than ever. I hope he’s the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator for many years to come. That’s going to be my position.”

NFL Released Divisional Playoff Round Schedule

If the Ravens beat the Patriots, they would then face the Indianapolis Colts Saturday, January 16 at 8:15 pm.

Patriots organization is not exactly known for their honesty. Who knows about Brady? I had thought the ribs were an injury that happened earlier anyway so he has obviously been playing with them if they are broken. Same goes for the finger injury.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bellicheat was lying to protect himself from everyone knowing he is risking Brady's health to make it to the Superbowl....

Forget about the broken ribs and Welker. The Ravens know they have there work cut out for them. Playing in cold and miserable Foxborough is not easy and they have not loss there all year. I think we can all conclude that if we stop Brady on the opening drive and we are moving the ball on the ground we stand a great chance. The more I see Kelly Washington the more I wish he was on the field as a full time receiver. Mason is hurt. New England also has a problem with keeping teams out of the end zone in the fourth quarter. So being down by seven in the fourth is not tragic but lets be even or ahead going into the fourth just to be safe because his name is still Tom Brady.

Smash Brady, we owe him a good bruising! I want to see him taste the grass. I want to see Belichick barely shake Harbaugh hand because his embrassed. D-line attack hard-let loose-Brady don't scramble often. Every down go all out, if D-line get tired sub immediately, next up go all out!

Injuries or not, GO GET EM', if they are injured their gonna regret stepping up to the most physical, persistent team... I just want to see a fair called game because I think everyone remembers the Monday night game against the Pats, when they were undefeated and went to the Superbowl... GET OUT THERE AND TAKE THEM DOWN!!!! GO RAVENS!!!!!

I just want to see him get a good ole Raven beat down so all those Band-Aids don't go to waste!! itscbm 5042, I'd say we have a winner ! Somebody needs to do a parody of the old song "It's My Party." The chorus should go "It's a late hit and I'll cry if I want !"

Beat the snot out of Brady. You can't adjust your game just because the refs are babying him. Take the flag. Put him out of the game... uh legally of course...

Bellichek is as big a crybaby as Brady is. Boo hoo it was the turf, boo hoo Casserly's a meteorologist, boo hoo I can't cheat any more. I think Bellichek either needs a kleenex or a good hit on the sidelines if someone can manage to make that happen during the game. Maybe then he would have something to cry about. Football is a game for men, it's not a tea party for little girls like NE would like it to be, so they can protect little Tommy Brady.

Hopefully the Ravens players and coaching staff aren't getting mixed up in this whole injury mind game...because thats exactly what it is. It is the same as the regular season, if the Ravens go out and play their game it won't matter who is playing. It really doesnt matter if Brady has broken ribs or is perfectly healthy, the goal should be to put pressure on him and force as many mistakes as possible.

You know what I hate just as much as a crying QB after a big hit is a WR or TE flailing his arms in the air looking for PI after a DB blankets him...

i think we should give his body a smashing that his wife will feel back home. we can win this game, we may not be as aggressive on the pass since week2 but we are going to gash the run on that D and free up lanes for mason, williams, and washington. we just have to close down moss for the most part, because nor w/o welker we can schene a little diff. i think reed is bound for a good day. at least 1 pick to change momentum. do you guys think we should differ the opening kick if we have it or trust the D on the first drive and get possession in the 2nd half tho?

OOHHH I would give anything to have Tony Siragusa lace em up one more time and fall on Brady like he did on Rich Gannon back in the day...LOL..but we all know we are guaranteed two things.. a roughing the passer call if we jump offsides and a Frank Walker pass interference call..

Beli[chick] is obviously lying after their little secret was brought to the light because he doesn't want his team looking even more vulnerable after they lost Welker.

Not me, I'd rather the Jets lose their first game. I don't think that will happen, but it's what I'd prefer.

Bellichick... always blames somebody or something else. That's a team that just can't seem to accept what is theirs. Now it seems that Bellichick is blaming the turf at Houston???? What about the turf in Boston??? or Pittsburgh??? Only when it's something good do they find the heart to say.. "We did it".

I gotta say that I love the Band-aid box. it's GREAT!...

My brother always says that the Ravens have a GREAT chance if Brady is wearing his skirt, and the refs don't care that Brady's got his skirt on... He is the Protected Boy of the NFL that's for sure.

COME ON RAVENS.... LETS SHOW 'EM... WE DESERVE THE REPECT!

Front four go hard after Brady on every play. Please don't let up! If he is hurt it will show. If not make it so. We need constant pressure with so sacks. If not he will pick us apart.
