Playoffs - First Up: Patriots

207 posts in this topic

Here we go, The Playoffs. A very Familiar place for this team over the years, and also for the Pats. This game should be just like earlier this year, except for one of New England's biggest threats gone, Wes Welker. Still, Pressure is key, and we need to shutdown Randy Moss. The Offense really needs to get on the ball for this one and pound the rock. Score enough on Offense and get the job done enough on Defense and we will move on. Thoughts?

Yes Wes Welker being out will help us but check this out, this is from PFT, Brady not only has rib injuries but he also has a broken finger. It seems he has been playing through the finger injury, that he suffered a month ago which is on his throwing arm. The finger injury is bothering Brady more than his rib injuries.

Anyway back on topic, this is going to be an interesting game, might be one of the best wild card games of the weekend. Ravens and Patriots are getting to know each other very well, we have only loss by a combined 9 points in the last 2 games we have faced them, 07 and back in Week 4. Now it's our turn to get some revenge, there was tons of controversy in 2007, a dropped pass ended our hopes back in Wk 4, now let's knock them out of the playoffs. This is the Revenge post season, and Belicheck and Brady are first up, let's GIT-R-DONE and make up for what could have been in Wk 4.

...I'm not gloating but Welker is gone with a torn ACL i hear...(how's that for an injury helping us..)

But if we play Ravens Football we can beat them...in their house...in a foot of snow...with or without Welker and with Frank Walker in the lineup...;0)

Flacco needs to stay in the pocket.

....for 2.5-3.0 seconds...and then he needs to unload it to someone wearing a Ravens Jersey!!

Brady has an injured finger and the extent of the injury is unknown.

Welker is out for the rest of the season.

Things are going our way but I hope both get to a speedy recovery.

With their injuries, age and recent losing to enter the postseason, I think we have a really good shot to take them down.

Remember that we were damn close to beating them earlier this season and came up just a bit short. We know we can beat them and they know they can be beaten.

Here's hoping for the best.

(BTW: We all know Welker is out but when I hear someone has a broken rib and broken finger, I usually count them out....why are people acting like Brady is going to play?)

While watching the Jets/Bengals Halftime report, it was noted that Tom Brady has at least one broken rib and a broken index finger on his right hand. Any merit to this statement? And with Welker likely out, are the odds stacking in our favor?

The Pats made it a necessity to run the ball on us with 25 attempts while moving rotating Maroney, Faulk, and Taylor. Don't forget also, Brady got some yardage as well.

Nevertheless, Flacco threw for a ton in that game and our running game, (even though we had 100+ yards from Rice) wasn't really a guiding factor. We can run on them. We also have to know that we can pass on them but the thing is, our WR's need to step up big time. I know Flacco is looking for the pass deep but I don't think the separation is there for the quick passes/ the plays are getting called quick enough so Flacco can survey the field and know where the blitz is coming from.

Having an healthy Gaither will boast our line (I think this was the game where he got injured and carted off?)

Nevertheless, run the ball, pass the ball when needed and get turnovers while not giving the ball back to them. This is a very beatable Patriots team.

It's not a new injury, but Tom Brady is playing through a broken index finger in addition to his three broken ribs.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirmed the severity of the finger injury suffered a month ago, saying Brady has been playing through a broken index finger on his throwing hand.

The finger injury reportedly is bothering Brady more than his broken ribs, which were originally suffered in the preseason. Brady left the locker room Sunday before speaking to the media, which we can't remember ever happening before.

Even without the Brady injury updates, this Sunday could not have gone much worse for the New England Patriots.

we can beat the Patriots! the Ravens need to go in there and take the crowd right out of the game with a very consistent drive time and time again! the Ravens need to POUND THE ROCK! and in the passing game...Flacco needs to "SPREAD THE BALL AROUND!" Mason, Clayton, Washington, Williams, Heap and L.J. need to be highly involved in this game on the regular!

P.S. Bob Costas just did a little promo piece on the Patriots (who lost today)...and said; "all though the Patriots are banged up and not the same team from 2 years ago....what team wants to face them in a single game elimination in the playoffs?"

are you kidding me? the Patriots lose and are STILL getting publicity?

LET'S GO RAVENS!!!!
Wes Welker being out helps us more than anything, including Brady being injured. We definitely can win this especially if our running game keeps up the good work.

The Patriots don't scare me. If the offensive line plays well as a unit, Flacco, Rice and Co. will put up points. The key will be for Cam to spread the ball around in the passing game.

On defense, the Ravens have to bring the heat. Moss and Ben Watson are match-up problems but if the defense can get to Brady early, it should throw him off.

If we have a balanced attack, I think we would have a great chance. We had a great running average last time, but didn't run very much. I think Rice only had 11 carries and had a 100 yards.

If Willis plays anything like today, him and Rice should run all day on their defense. I just hope they give Willis some carries.

Julian Edleman stepped up right into Wes Welkers spot. 10 catches for 103 yards despite not starting the entire game. Julian is a spitting image of Welker.

Exactly. Welker being out certainly helps, but Edleman is very dangerous as well. To me, Brady being injured is bigger. If we played them as close as we did before (and should have beaten them) when he was healthy, you have to feel good about playing him when he's injured.

Cause hes been playing with these injuries for weeks

Ribs were hurt in preseason and the finger was week 11 or something like that

We better take advantage of this if he does play. Pressure him all game long, take away Moss, hit him (without penalties of course) and just make him feel uncomfortable heading onto the field.

The good thing about the playoffs is we get a clean slate, all of those mistakes we made in the past are gone. It's a whole new season.

Considering that I was inquiring about the level of impact these injuries have on the Playoff game? No, it's not.

I know. I was just asking if there was an official report, considering they stated that it was at least 1 rib so there wasnt a concrete number. Thanks for the link BTW.

I just hope we can knock Brady around and expose his rib injury. No Welker is a big break for our secondary, and with a bad finger also, if we can pressure Brady it could be interesting to see how he holds up, or not! GO RAVENS!!

brady is a beast an plays through many injuries , we just need to put that pressure on him give him a few good sacks and take this win for the 1st round of playoffs, how great would it be to see flacco go to the 2nd round of playoffs 2 years in a row???

First of all, who really knows if Welker is out, and how hurt Brady is. The Pats are liars, and cheaters.
I'm sure they will have the hidden cameras rolling up there to film the Ravens.
We have to be at the top of our game. Offensive line needs to get down to business and give Flacco time to throw.
Secondary...... well Ed Reed can't do it all.
Lets go Ravens ....time to Play Like a Raven
