[News] Flacco Approaching Record Books

33 posts in this topic

With one game remaining on the schedule, quarterback Joe Flacco is in a great position to etch his name in the Ravens’ record books. Flacco is at or near the top of several single-season records – in only his second season. As Baltimore prepares to meet the Oakland Raiders for a shot to go to the playoffs this weekend, the Ravens are hoping Flacco reaches those history-making levels.

No offense to Flacco, I think that he is the best damn QB we have ever had.But the number shows 21 TD's and 480 pass attempts this year and Last year 14 TD's and 428 attempts. 11-5 last year 8-6 this year we gotta get back to 50/50 plays. The numbers speak we need to run more

haha, i don't know about completing 89.5 of his passes, but he definitely looks like he'll be a good QB. He's already one of the best in Ravens history, but we have to remember, that's comparing him to an old Vinnie Testaverde, an old Jim Harbaugh, Tony Banks, a short season of Trent Dilfer, a disapointing Elvis Grbac, an unmemorable Jeff Blake and Anthony Wright, Chris Redman, Kyle Boller, and a washed up Steve McNair, and a few other QB's not worth remembering. So I don't know that he would be breaking records at this point if he were on many other teams. But with an arm like that, there's no doubt that he'll be one of the best someday.

@Jimmy Tice: No we don't. We rushed for over 140 yards on the Steelers last week and we still lost. People need to get off this "we need to run more" garbage. We have a guy who is leading the league in yardage from the line of scrimmage. 1200 of those are rushing yards. If you rely too heavily on the run, you will have the same problem we had last season when we faced a team like the Steelers in the playoffs. Eventually the great teams see how one dimensional you are and they figure you out. Then you have to make your QB do things he hasn't done all season. We are taking the right steps with Flacco whether you agree or not.

Not only with Flacco, but I really love the modesty the players on this team have. The only thing they are concerned with is winning games. I love it, and with that attitude they will keep breaking records.

For as good as he is, he is over looked by analysts because of his age. But it's clear to anyone, the bias and unbiased, that in a matter of 1-2-3-4 years...he is going to be the guy constantly talked about. As he gets better and better, in his SECOND YEAR, and guys like Romo and Palmer (among others) see dropping numbers and more scrutiny, it's hard to imagine Joe not being the topic of discussion and envy in the NFL for many years to come.

No doubt Flacco will be an elite QB within the next few years (pretty close now for a sophomore). Soon he will be overshadowing other good QBs, and be included in the Rivers, Brees, Brady, Favre, and Peyton Manning club.

I am soooo glad he is a Raven!

GO JOE!

GO RAVENS!

Joe Flaccco is a rising star in this league, that along with Ray Rice gives us reason to look forward and smile. When he gets a bonifide #1 to compliment the rest of our receiving corp, whoever stays or goes, he will only get better. As the offensive line gains experience and he has more time to throw he will rewrite our record book.Go get 'em Joe, you're the man!! Can you imagine what this kid could do with a talented WR or two? Off season wishes: one #1 CB and a couple of top WRs. Then stand back AFC North - Ravens will dominate!

Seeing some of those 'first 32' comparisons gave me the chills. Joe is right on pace and the breakout season is going to happen in the next three years. When that happens, I feel bad for the competition... actually, no. I don't feel bad for them. Watch this kid from 'lowly' Delaware rock the house.

Kinda' reminds you of a Delaware QB who was NFL MVP not too long ago... but even better.

Doing this playoff run, we will be up against the best most to whom we lost too. Our 4th quarter performance has to step up, Flacco has to be a come back performer if it comes down to that, feel that blitz coming. O-line will make all the difference, protect Flacco. Flacco use to take off when the pocket collapsed(ankle maybe) that's why Troy feel he should be playing. Flacco give us 5 star performance on all aspects of the game, we counting on you big time. Congradulations but you know our team is not about stats we are about victory. I think your the next great, just have a few things to polish. PLAY LIKE A RAVEN and dominate!

Whatever the reason, it's fine with me if he's overlooked for a few years. It will help him develop without a ton of pressure on him from the media. Flacco is doing great for the Ravens and I hope he continues to learn the game and improve. We have a great talent that we get to watch develop. It's good to be a Raven fan.

Flacco is a big, strong quarterback much like Johnny U and Bert Jones. He will do well because he is not going to let his ego get in the way of his development as we have seen over and over in the league. He is a smart, down to earth young man and will blossom into one of the leagues best quarterbacks. I think he doesnt get air time because of all the big name quarterbacks that everyone always talks about, but that is great for him, no temptation to lull himself into believing it will just happen. Funny how fate put him into that spot and he has done so well. Without Troy S tonsil infection, Joe would be a practice squad QB. Makes you wonder...

Despite only being in his second year, I am comfortable saying he is our franchise quarterback. Period. In three years, he will have all of the records for the Ravens, how awesome would that be?

Forget those records for now , who cares . We want to go to the playoffs at this point and finish with a win at the Superbowl . You guys can write stories about these records in the off season , it will give you something to do and us something to read .
