Ya want a plate of cheese with that whine?

Oh boo hoo boo hoo. Shut up, Lamar. The Pats and the Bengals didn't put you in this position.....you losers of five straight put yourselves there.

And yes I will rejoice if the Steelers miss the playoffs.

Yeah, cry more Lamar. Seriously. The Steelers lost to the Browns and Raiders. THEY laid down themselves. That's why they're in this position.

The teams we lost to all have winning records. They've lost to four teams with losing records. Plus, even with us committing 11 penalties for over 100 yards, they still only won by 3 points.

What is up with Steelers linebackers and idiotic comments? "Ur hur hur president should invite us when we ain't winnin' the super bowl." What? There needs to be stricter educational requirements for players to graduate college. Seriously.

I think that was James Harrison that made those comments about the prez. I just cant stand the steelers, I really dont think the Pats are trying to avoid the steelers. You lose to the Browns and Raiders you dont deserve the playoffs. We've lost our share of games, but not to any scrubs.

Steelers had control of their own destiny and lost the Browns, it's not Cincinnati and New Englands fault they took care of business and can rest their starters.

It's ironic that some Steelers fans would talk about how much we Ravens fans whine, when those same Steelers fans should look at their own players. (Not referring to any of our resident Steelers fans on this board, of course)

Thats one thing that bothers me about this board. We (me included) whine to each other on this board, and outsiders see it and we all look like a bunch of crybabies.

That's on every board -- trust me.

At least we let you guys whine and air your grievances; if you saw what happened with the Colts' official message board and their moderator, you know what I mean... -_-

I'd gladly take a team that lost to the Browns, Raiders, and barely squeaked by Detroit in the Playoffs. Apparently, the Steeler players' mindsets aren't too far off from most of their fans. What I mean by that, is that they feel entitled to everything football since their club has six rings. Woodley and, well, the Steelers need to realize they're the reason they're going to miss the playoffs.

The idea that the fact that Cincy and New England might rest their starters as a shot against Pittsburgh is egotistical and laughable. Not everything revolves around Pittsburgh in the NFL, no matter how hard the team wants to think it does. If the Steelers cannot help themselves, they certainly cannot expect help from anyone else.

The whole thing makes me laugh. like they would'nt do the same thing in the other teams positions! Try cryin' in those towels, I could care less, win and we're in, the rest is their fault! Hold on Lamar!!

And with our first-time starting, #3 QB we took you to OT and lost by.....you guessed it...3 points.

It's true that the Steelers themselves are responsible for the position they're in, but I fail to see how this is whining. If you want to label it, then call it a desperate attempt to call out the teams we need to play to win.

I read some fans' posts on the ESPN site saying this same thing. Yes, Pittsburgh, the world revolves around you and the only possible reason for resting their starters is so that they don't face you in the playoffs.

Anybody watch Survivor? It's the same thing when someone gets voted off: they must have been voted off because everyone is afraid of them. Cracks me up.

Gotta give credit to the other members of the Steelers team that spoke out, though. Yeah, maybe if it was the Steelers of last year... but then, they wouldn't be in this predicament.

it's a genius move. it's all a ploy to try and get the Bengals and Pats fired up and to play hard.

I'm hoping it works on the Bengals. I really don't want to listen to any more of Rex's mouth this year.

As for Woodley, you would think after the Mendenhall Experiment they would be smarter about bulletin board fodder. Even though it would mean the Ravens are out, there would be some deliciously sweet irony if they got the Cats fired up, made it in, and summarily got their butts handed to them in round one.

True, but that still doesn't explain how they lost to the Browns with their starting quarterback by more than three points.

Sorry, but the Steelers are in no position to talk smack about anyone... except maybe the Rams.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Patriots would love to see the Steelers in the playoffs. Brady and company would eat that defense alive.

Are they going to "unleash hell" in the playoffs, like they did vs KC, OAK, and CLE. Lamar, you are such a dope....your team rested it's starters the last 2 years in week 17 you effing hypocrite.

EDIT: Dope was not my word, but the friendly version of the word I used which can be translated to someone that is dumb and a mule.

I suppose when the Steelers get pummled by the Dolphins they will say it is because there was no reason to play a real game since those dastardly Bengals and Patriots were going to lay down anyway! What a bunch of cry baby fools!

[Tank] Johnson said he plans to call Woodley and "give him a piece of his mind."

"I can tell you this, we didn't lay down against the Steelers," Johnson said, "so I think LaMarr Woodley should worry about what concerns LaMarr Woodley and the Steelers and not worry about this great franchise in the Bengals."
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/01/01/tank-johnson-fires-back-at-lamarr-woodley/

I would have thought the other Johnson would be the first to sound off on this. How long will it take someone besides me to disagree with the notion that the Bengals are a "great franchise?"

I never even thought about the reverse psychology until I saw this.

Then I realize, I don't think the Bengals or Pats particularly care about the Steelers either way. If anything, both teams can afford to play half-hearted because they'll still be going to the postseason while the Steelers will still need help. Both teams could also rest their starters just to spite Woodley for his comments, because such words will be hollow if the Steelers still end up watching from home regardless of a Cincy or NE win.

I think the rest of the Steelers locker room is right not to back Woodley on his words, since they recognize they put themselves in this position.

I'd bet Jamie Harrison, Woodley and the fans think the only reason the Ravens are playing their starters is "just to keep the steelers out of the playoffs" as well.

It is narcissistic but yet not surprising given how the league bows down to them.

I saw on ESPN that the issue of teams resting their starters this weekend was brought up to the NFL office, funny how it becomes a big issue when pittsburg is affected.

Now you're thinking like Woodley; it's not all about them. Many fans are going to have to watch scrubs play and that is probably a bigger factor.

If any individiual team was the reason for the scrutiny it would probably be the Colts. The displeased fans of the NFL that were hoping to see the first 19-0 season made a loud outcry when Indy disregarded the possibility of making history.

The amount of idiots Pittsburgh breeds is truly astounding. If it's not some drunken blonde guido kicker fighting cops its another linebacker beating on his girlfriend.

It might look like a measured play at the egos of certain teams, but ultimately its a precurser to excuses and mass cry baby hysteria if one of those teams loses. Never mind the fact that Pittsburgh choked away one of the easiest schedules known to man.

Well Lamar Woodley as it turned out it was not Cincy losing to the Jets that knocked you out it was the Ravens.

Have fun chewing on that until September!!
