The nfl needs to stop with all these rule changes that cater to the whole family, or casual football fans. I'm all for everyone getting everyone into the game, but dont change the violence of the game. Todays game wouldnt be so popular if not for the Lawerence Taylors, Ray Lewis and Ronnie Lott's. Its made the game too easy for certain qb's and wideouts. Players like Wes Welker catches 15 passes and doesnt take one hit!!!!! I'm sure i'll still watch but I wish they would quit catering to offense so much because it gives an unfair advantage to high-powered offenses. What you guys think?

I don't like priority rules for certain players or positions.

However I think it's bogus that the NFL would target the Ravens and make them lose games by penalizing them, that's just childish. If they were really concerned about the physicality they would fine them and actually get money out of the organization, because that's what it's all about in corporate.

The NFL doesn't target any team, the refs are a bit more cautious with their flags because the Ravens are aggressive and can be over aggressive quite easily. The key is discipline.

Im not saying they are out to get the ravens, its like Kobe driving the lane even untouched the ref will blow the whistle cuz there use to him getting fouled in the lane. We are looked at as bullies, and have been for ten years. Its just the mindset they have.

As long as we're using analogies here's mine:

I feel like the people who think the zebras hate the Ravens are like little kids who always get yelled at by their parents and go "I think my parents just hate me, that's why they keep yelling at me".

That's simply not true, the league wants disciplined games and sometimes the Ravens bring too much aggression, as kid-friendly as that sounds it's the truth.

Thats pretty much what im saying about the league. If you watched the NBA back in the Jordan days, basketball was very physical. The league grew and became more family friendly and now its a shadow of its former self. The NFL is quickly headed in that direction

I don't think it's family-friendly that they're going for, I think they are more concerned about the players health.

More aggressive games and hard hits don't really make it more adult oriented. But if the announcers went "Holy **** look at that hit" that's a different story.

Really? You do know they make new helmets that would basically stop concussions, if they were that concerned wouldnt they mandate the helmets. Its about more money. If you believe it was about the health only then you also will believe that was me and santa that was at your house on Christmas.

I agree on the count that they should mandate new helmets, they might next season with all the concussions this year.

I know it's not health only and money is first and what's more profitable is star QB's playing longer careers, so less hits on them.

Agreed finally. But just so you dont get the wrong impression, I dont think we've been cheated out of a game since the infamous Pats monday nighter. We beat ourselves in the steelers game, and anyone thats says otherwise should take those purple glasses off.

Yes, we definitely beat ourselves in Pittsburgh no question. I like how this whole thread is just me and you debating.

Good discussion none the less, sir. :)

I think that NFL footall is a violent game and should never be considered "family friendly". Anyway, how can the average family afford to take the kids to an NFL game? As to the rule changes, I think the NFL is trying to protect the elite QB's, which I do not agree with. Just let the teams play football! "C'mon Man"

I know these rule changes are intended for protecting players, but you gotta realize something. Serious and career-threatening injuries are unavoidable. No matter how much you try to prevent them, they're gonna keep happening. Throwing flags won't change a thing, I'm sorry.

Fines have gotten completely out of control. Goodell fines players (Chad Ochocino) for bad reasons, whether it's for "inexessive" celebrations, or just incidental hits, that are completely legal.

Most importantly, games are being given away every week by the zebras.

Bottonline, we're sick and tired of all these rules and restrictions!! Just let em' play football and decide the games themselves!!

Only person in the NFL I hate more than John Harbaugh is Roger Goodell. They put too much into character, it's getting ridiculous.
