where did that come from? First its the neck which he's been playing through. Next its an ankle or a knee, then its the hip. Now the hip is decent enough to play and its a groin tear??? Reed is so done, this sucks.
[/quote]

Reed said it himself to the media earlier today. He also said the hip was never an issue and it's been his groin the whole time.

You do realize he may not play again this season right?

Man, I was hoping he would be able to come back for the playoffs. I really don't think Reed is going to retire after this season. What the Ravens need to do is get corners who can play better. If they can do this than they can run more Single High Safety like they did at the beginning of the year. This would put reed at Center field which would require much less tackling from him.

Rex was great at covering up our weaknesses and that's one area where he really helped out Ed. Mattison though, is perfectly capable of scheming up things to protect Ed from having to run support. We just need corners that play better in Cover 1 and Cover 3.

Foxworth should be able to do that. It's the corner opposite him that'll be a problem. Fabian may not be back next year and even if he's re-signed, he'll be coming off an ACL injury. The same goes for Webb.

Landry has gotten better as the season has gone on. He has done well in run support overall. Check the team stats Bull, he is second only to Ray Lewis in tackles and tied with Foxworth with the team lead in interceptions. Landry is doing fine.

Zib has done well and it's worth considering that the Ravens miss Ed Reed but his freelancing hurts the team as well. The pass coverage has been decent since Reed has been out and the defense has actually played some of it's best ball without Reed. Reed is a playmaker no doubt but after the past few weeks I'm not as worried as I might have been about Reed's absence.

While Landry has improved, what doesn't show up on the box scores are plays like the missed tackle against Holmes this past Sunday, the numerous other missed tackles during the season the TDs he gave up to Finley and Schiancoe where he looked completely lost in coverage.

Every safety gives up plays but Landry has been a liability against the top teams this year.

I agree about Zibikowski though. I never thought I'd say this but the secondary may be a more cohesive unit without Reed.

The last touchdown in the first half @ Steelers both Zib and Landry missed the tackle.

Wow, well this is huge if he has a groin tear. It would of been the cherry on top for a long playoff run, nontheless I think Zbi has done an admirable job filling in for him. Landry has gotten better each week as the year has gone on, he just has trouble with the big open field tackles. So let's hope he can shore that up and pick on some Raiders this week to get him going.

Zibby didn't miss a tackle. Holmes jumped into the endzone at the 2 yard line when Zibby first contacted him, at that point it was physically impossible for Holmes to not get into the endzone. Landry's attempt to tackle Holmes however was pathetic. Holmes faked him out of his shoes, Adrian Peterson style.

I haven't really thought about what sst just said, but he's spot on.

I love Ed Reed.

Honestly though, with the way our secondary is right now. We don't need a gambler we need a saftey. Zibby is playing exactly where he is suppose to be playing.

There's a reason why Foxworth has looked decent as of late, its because he's getting the help he needs.

I hope Ed Reed will get healthy in the offseason, we pick up so true CBs and then we can be successful with the ball hawk again!

I just saw on Total Access that Reed is still most likely going to play on Sunday. This was according to Jason La Canfora. I'm not sure if we'll need him or not, but if he can play next week, than he should be able to play during the playoffs.

These reports are false. Ed Reed yesterday said that he woke up and rolled out of bed and saw that ESPN was reporting that he will try to play. Reed said that this was the first he heard of this, he wasn't even sure if he was going to play, and did not know how these people knew before he did!

Now he has a groin tear, don't listen to these false reports.

Zibby has been playing great back there. I dont mind sitting Reed for another game to rest up for the playoffs. Although, a tear takes longer then a week to heal.

Ed Reed speaks:

"I tried to give it a go last week and I really couldn't play, shoot, 50 percent all the way," Reed said today. "So seven days later will it be different? I doubt it. Am I feeling any different? Not really. So I don't think [I'll be able to play]."

"It's really a hard decision when you don't practice," Reed said. "I want to be out there, I want to play in every game. But when you get hurt, you've just got to be smart about it and try to get back and come back as best you can."

Reed also gave his opinion on how Zibby has been playing.

with the way Zib has been playing i would pesonally want them to lean towards cautiion and have a rested Reed for our playoff run if all goes well in oakland.

i agree 100% i would love to see reed back but zibs doing great, and if reeds on the fence with health give him another week

I think we will need Reed more in the playoffs than for this game. Zibowski has done well filling in and we should let Reed take one more week to heal.

I'd rather see Zibby stay at safety over Reed at this point. Look at how much Foxworth has improved, now that he has a safety who doesn't leave him hanging every pass. I don't think anyone doubts that Ed can make the big play, but is that one possible play, worth the many first downs his wondering causes? Not in my opinion.

Its not ed reed. Suggs is back, and, as much as people hate on him, he demands attention. The pass rush has been much improved since he came back. Webb was also inserted, and he played very well. Landry has improved alot through the course of the season. And, Foxworth might finally be getting used to the system, along with the rest of the defense.

We are not a better team with Ed Reed on the sidelines.

ED REED should only play in the first half so he has a less of a chance of getting re injured!
but we might need him in case :3dtext10082zo1:

Jason LaCanfora just reported on NFL Gameday Morning Ed Reed has a very good chance of playing today. Here's to a safe day for Ed.

If anything, put Ed in the second half. That way he'll be fresh while the offense will be pooped out. Anyways, I'd rather just let him be healthy for next year. We all know what happened when CMac tried coming back when he was unhealthy. Let Reed get healthy, make him be on the field mentally, and let him fight for his job next season. Don't give the team the mentality that every position is a lock.

Hopefully they just stay in a two deep set like they've been doing and Ed won't have to make too many crazy plays. Having Reed back there with Landry should allow Zibby to take some punts, he doesn't have crazy speed but I think he'll be an aggressive return guy thats elusive enough to make people miss.
