Miles Austin A Raven...

27 posts in this topic

The Ravens will be in need of Receivers in 2010. I noticed that Miles Austin from dem Cowboys will be RFA next year. Any opinions on whether he could fit here and whether or not Dallas will let him go? Me thinks that would be a nice aquisition.

Kevin Walter is a WR. Thats who the Ravens need.

Good name. Jacoby Jones is finally emerging and Walter has battled injuries all year long. I could see the Texans letting him go.

He would be another band-aid but could step in and be productive from day one.

Cowboys won't be letting Austin leave. He's explosive and brings moxy to the team. Even if Austin was free for the picking, there's something about the guy I just don't buy into.

I would prefer to go the draft route. Austin seems like the type of guy that will be explosive onto the scene but disappear over the long run.

Some athletes just do not practice well or impress maybe that’s why it’s taken Miles so long to get his chance that came only due to juries. Ravens has their needed receiver imo, he’s on the practice squad, “Eron Riley.” Good speed! Good height!

Agreed. If this team likes Austin Miles so much. They should give Eron Riley a shot. Same predicament, same build. Find your own diamond in the rough.

It's not hard to hold onto an RFA. You have the right to match whatever offer someone gives to Miles. Plus, Jerry Jones will certainly tender him with the maximum amount, which I think is something like $2.5m so anyone that gives Austin an offer sheet that Jones won't match (which would have to be huge) also has to give Dallas a first and 3rd round pick.

It would be nice to find our own players on offense. It seems we almost always hit with our defensive gusy. For example, McClain, Ellerbe, Landry (5th round), Gregg, AD, Scott. Why can't we find some guys who are relatively unknown to make some plays on offense.

Old Jerry will sign the BIG check to keep this guy , there is no way he lets him go . He is most of the reason they are still in this thing , but it would be nice to have him .

Oh yeah I don't expect Jerry to let him go at all. The one thing though I think alot of people will find issue with his that Jerry will pay him money close to Fitz, or even what Roddy White got for only half a season of work. I believe he didn't really get play time until mid season. If a new CBA is in place Jerry should Franchise him to see what he does under the Franchise Tag and as the # 1 reciever.

Can't wait til Eron Riley is a Raven next season, he is going to be the Miles Austin of 2010.

Lets just draft a receiver, instead of dreaming of WR's on other teams.

we should draft a corner

Even though next year is going to be uncapped in all likelihood, how will Jones be able to afford 3 or more enormous deals after 2010? He already is paying ridiculous money to Romo, Roy Williams (WR), and Ware. How could they possibly afford a 4th mega deal?

Kevin Walter would be a decent addition. He is pretty much a lesser version of Hines Ward. Possession receiver, great blocking WR. The reason he is so effective in the Texans offense is because of the attention paid to Andre Johnson, obviously. He is worth a shot, but hopefully Dez Bryant falls to us in the draft.
