One question,

Is Gaither playing?
Coach said he was close for the Pitt game so I suspect he should be closer for Oakland...

People always overlook Oakland, they beat the good teams and lose to the bad. They pretty much elevate their performance for games against playoff contenders to embarrass them. I was actually frightened of this game when they had Gradkowski but now that he is injured they got Russel and Fryre(sp?). This would have been a close game otherwise.

Off Topic. Who's hoping the Jets win and go to the Championship game and we meet them there? I know that would be a pretty awesome game.

That would be epic indeed, but highly unlikely...

we beat down bad teams and find ways to give away games to good games. Something is going to have to give, right?

Who is the Raiders QB anyway?

The only players that worry me on the Raiders are McFadden and Janikowski (he hit a 61 yarder!)
McFadden is nothing special with the raiders, if your scared of anyone not injured on that teams offense it should be Michael Bush, he is the true RB there and he is damn good along with Fargas. McFadden just doesn't contribute most likely due to being used wrong.

McFadden : 3.1 YPC
Fargas : 3.8 YPC
Bush : 5.1 YPC

McFadden is a weapon but Michael Bush, Zach Miller and Louis Murphy all have big-play potential. I don't fear any of them but the players better be aware of them.

It's about the matchup though. We matchup well against the Raiders. We lose to elite teams with elite QB play. They have neither.
Oakland has a great passing D. We'll use Rice in the running game and the short pass game. Oakland O relies upon a good rushing game. We'll focus on shutting that down.

The reason why Oakland beat the Eagles is because the Eagles just continued to force passes on a good secondary. I think the Eagles only rushed like 11 times that game.

They beat Pitt and the Bengals with the shot in the arm Gradkowski. He's now gone. Plus the Bengals were without Cedric Benson for the first time.

Don't overlook them, yes. But don't give them more credit than their due.

Forgot about Miller.... he's a big threat, but not enough to "keep me awake at night"

We do matchup very well against the Raiders. They have a horrible run game while that's what we thrive on, they do not have a reliable QB which is when we usually pick on teams, they will also have a very hard time stopping Rice. With that being said we CAN'T take this game lightly because well, everybody including non Ravens knows what's at stake. WE MUST AND WILL GET THE JOB DONE.

Bump.

You know the fans are taking this game lightly. When our next opponent thread has fallen to the #16 thread.

I'm not really worried about him but he can make plays. The team seems comfortable putting Ellerbe in man coverage and he definitely has the athleticism to stay with anyone.

FYI,

I believe Jarmacus Russell will be starting this game. Not Charlie Frye.

Who's reporting that?

Never mind, I retract my statement. The radio report I heard was incorrect.

The Silver & Black report is saying Fyre is likely to start.

Makes sense. From what I've read, Cable is done with Russell.

we better have a good game Sunday vs Oakland. So far they own the AFC north. Does that scare anyone else?

Well, the Browns just put a hurt on them, so not really. Not to mention a former Brown, Frye, is starting this week.

I'm not taking this team for granted by any means, but we are clearly the superior team in every aspect, and should win easily. Key word: should.

I want to see dicipline, smarts, and i wanna see who besides ray rice will be able to help by rushing the ball and who besides heap and mason can help by catching the ball and getting open in the passing game.

This game will be a good test.

Its a long flight for the boys, Raiders have beaten quality teams, and the home-field crowd will be nuts.

If Reed and Gaither come back it'll be a sure win, if not it could be a toss-up

One thing this team does is that it plays to its own level instead of the opposing teams.

I'm pretty sure the Ravens play with the bad taste in their mouth from last week. Making it an easy victory. 34-10.

Only way we lose this game is if we hand to them through penalties and other stupid mistakes.

We play bad teams pretty well though, so I'm not worried. Just hope our players can get their heads straight come playoff time.

Ya, I would like to see us play a clean game and establish some things for the playoffs. The Raiders like to run the football and have been pretty good at it this year, so that will give us a challenge. I'm not sure if Charlie Frye is still going to be their starter or not but at least he's not the guy who was winning for them earlier in the year.(Gradkowski) If we can get Jamarcus Russell in though than we've really got the advantage. He is beyond terrible!

Couldn't have said it better myself, but that won't stop me from trying.

I'm not scared of the Raiders, I'm scared of (dramatic pause) the Ravens.

I don't care who we have beaten or who we have lost to at this point . Bottom line is we win this damn game and then every freakin team out theres record is 0-0 . That's what i'm talkin about , the Colts and Saints are not special they can be beat we all saw that , whether Indy laid down or not I was not impressed with them when we played them and they had sooooooo many close games that they shoulda lost . Let them have their high early and we will have ours late . If we can pull together in the playoffs and play like we did at the beginning of the year , we will be back in da bowl . A question for all : Why does the one guy on this post have a freakin Bengals picture on here , their website is www.bit**a**bengals.com

Lets not forget the Bengals and Steelers lost with Bruce as the starting QB. The guy is actually pretty good.

Walker actually scares me more than Fyre against any chance of the Raiders winning.

Lets keep in mind that Charlie Frye posted the most passing yards in week 16, even though it was the Browns.

He should not be written off. But as long as we are disciplined and execute there shouldn't be a problem.

The only way I can see this game being close is if we start beating ourselves early. stupid penalties or turnovers early in the game and the raiders will think they can hang with us. Score early and often keep their defense on the field and eventually it will break down and we will take over, hopefully pulling some of our starters by the 4th quarter.

Lets show them and the league were not messing around and we deserve to be in the playoffs. 41-6 ravens
