Offensive Critisicm

Firstly, let's actual sit and discuss the offense for a moment because I have a few qualms about them. This is just about the offense as a whole and since we are at the last game of the season, we can pretty much gauge at what we need to improve and what we should do from now on.

Flacco plays incredible when the running game is on -

This is why we were successful last year and I think that this is why Flacco late this season has been playing well. Rice has been a beast in the recieving and running game and this is taking pressure off Flacco. Flacco's numbers have been up and he has had some bad games (That Packers game was whew lol) but he is headed in the right direction. He's still learning and he needs more help. With Mason probably retiring, we need to seriously look at what we can do to help Flacco but the offense as a whole.

He holds on to the ball waiting for the receiver to get open.. not because he wants too.. Think about it.. Combined with today, Clayton, Williams and Washington had 2 catches for 36 yards. That brings to me to WR, something we all talk about.

We will see a totally different WR team on the field next year -

I don't think we really utilized Williams in this game because once a player gains confidence, they need to keep the truck rolling. When 2 players come off injury, gradually work them in but the running game was our gameplan and it worked pretty well. We need some guys that are willing to fight for the ball. We gotta stop lowballing this position and actually get someone who is a considerable threat instead of someone who plays off and on. Look at Rice and how much the defense eyes him, we need some of that attention to the WR group. Teams know Mason is going to do what he does but that's when someone else steps up and our WR didn't. Most of the plays called by Cam were designed for Mason specifically and that's something else we need to talk about, Playcalling.

Playcalling -

I don't know if Cam is getting the proper plays in at time. Harbaugh at one time in the game was asking the offense to speed up. He looked right at the clock and wondering why they were still in the huddle. This can be a little bit of Flacco's fault also. The substitutions have been slow. This is an area that severely needs to be improved. This happened last year and now it's is year. Our coaches preaches that we want to play fast but we don't necessarily do it when it comes time to play the game.

Jared Gaither -

Probably one of our biggest decisions next offseasons is what to do about Gaither. He's been banged up and has shown upside to being a grat LT. With the recent pick of Oher, there's debate about moving Gaither to RT and moving Oher to LT? So, do we pay Gaither the contract to play the position that he really isn't accustomed to playing or do we move Oher to be our LT of the future and get a RT in the draft or free agency? This is something that I'm going to keep on eye on this offseason because he's a good player and still young so we shall see what will happen. Plus Right Guard? Do we keep Yanda or get someone from the draft or Free agency?

Whats your thoughts?

I only have one thing to say...

Mark Clayton started and did not catch a single ball.

That's it. Anyone who posts here frequently knows I believe our biggest problem is with our depth chart. And the offenses major problem lies with its receivers and the depth chart organization.

I had a HUGE problem with this as well. Like I said, Clayton and Washington both are coming off games they didn't play. Start Williams and gradually work them in. Build Williams confidence and get him playing time.

I'm not going to hate any of the Raven's, they gave that game away as a team, but I do not really understand the train of thought at the end od the 1st half. We have the steelers in 3rd and long inside the 10 yard line with around 1:42 left with the clock running and we have 2 time outs but instead of calling a time out and making sure the defense was set and on the right page, we allow the clock to run. Now after the steeler drive 90 some yards and score, then we run the ball a few plays and then use the time outs. I'm really lost on this one.
