Would The Real Ravens Fans Please Stand Up?

42 posts in this topic

And here we go again with the condescending brood-mentality coupled with finger-pointing, chants for a coup d'etat against the coaches & coordinators and the infamous "we don't belong in the playoffs" mantra.

How dare anyone question your loyalty as a fan!

So, you're lacing up your cleats and heading to the practice sessions this week and you're going to tell Harbaugh, Cameron & Mattison a thing or two on how to coordinate a winning ball club, right?!

Puh-lease.

~ Malkavian Raven

PS: The Steelers just join the list of teams that only beat us by less than 7-points.

PPS: And there goes my 40+ Reputation.

oh common.. there's always room for MMQ and finger pointing. That's what we do as fans of the team and the game. If you support something as emotionally as Ravens football, there needs to be an outlet for frustration. Don't get all high and mighty on people venting frustrations.

A lot of people are venting right now, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt.

I saw the same game as everyone else and I have to buy my "Cincinnati Bengals fan" of a boss lunch tomorrow because we wagered if the Ravens could beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh -- you don't see me throwing a tantrum.

What's wrong with being passionate and caring about your team and getting lil mad when they lose or make mistakes...that's the very meaning of fanatic...there is no reason just emotion then you settledown once you're done venting

I normally don't freak out, but I'm venting elsewhere. Pissed my mom off because she doesn't like me cursing in her house, even at my age, and I'm F-bombing it up over the phone.

I think you need to apply the 'body of work' rule here. If Ray misses a tackle, I don't much worry about it because of the thousands he has made.

Consider SOME of the venting/posting to be missed tackles. Now, some of the 'tackles' you're seeing on these boards are total whiffs, and some people whiff a lot. Look at the body of work from players/posters. It'll make you feel better.

Some of the frustrated folks are just frustrated and will return to form soon enough - maybe next week, after a west coast win, and a playoff birth.

Same situation as last year, boys. We need a team to lose this week this probably will (Jets to Colts, gimme a break), and we're facing a non-playoff team next week (Jags last year, Oakland this year) and if we play our last game this year like we did last year (lights out football to make the playoffs) then we should have no problem.

We got this y'all. If Chris Carr can play a game well, then anything is possible!

Exactly, there is no reason for it. Emotion is just getting the better of you but is that any reason to want to crucify half the Ravens' squad?

I'm sorry but when someone says I don't deserve to be a coach, a player or in the playoffs it makes me wonder why I should play to begin with. Even if I get my head out of my ****** next week in Oakload and we destroy them like we did the Bears, I'm still going to remember everyone saying I wasn't deserving even if they too have changed their opinions of me.

There are more productive ways to express criticism. For instance, "We'll get them next time!"

That's not an expression of criticism. Your original post condemned a lot of ways people are speaking. You went from the 'don't deserve the playoffs' extreme to the 'can't question the coaches at all' extreme. Those are two ends of the post-game frustration spectrum.

The season is far from over us. Whether you believe we shouldn't be there or not. The bottom line is, if we win in Oakland it looks like we'll be in. Now that Denver, and Jets are losing.

Ravens fans need to realize that the playoffs is a whole new ball game. If Tampa Bay can beat the Saints. We can make some noise in the playoffs.

Need to win in Oakland.

Under Harbaugh we have never lost to a team with a losing record.

The only point to this post is to give people another place to point the finger at the officials.

Look, I hate Frank Walker. He can't play. He is horrible. But when he actually is in position by some Christmas miracle... and then Santonio Holmes grabs him and pulls him out of the way so he can haul in that pass to keep that drive at the end of the 1st half alive... I am going to blame the officials. It's AMAZING to me how they happen to see every little thing that the Ravens do(even if it has NO effect on the outcome of the play). And yet they miss plenty on the Steelers.

The Ravens did plenty to lose this game. They did plenty to lose all the games they did. But THAT doesn't mean that the officials should treat them any different than any other team in the league. And guess what... THEY DO.

Perhaps we just like to make it challenging for ourselves. Put our backs to the wall, have people doubt us.

That seems to be when we play our best ball. It's when we get confidence, we're bad.

The penalties in the second half were 11-1 in the Steelers favor and there were a few that very well should have been called. The officials can make or break you and today they certainly broke the Ravens.

A real letter copy from a real Ravens Fan. A fan who if fed up with officials who subscribe to selective vision.

Attn: NFL Commissioner:

I ask at this time that you share this email with the officials functioning within the NFL. I have been a fan of the NFL for some time now but will soon be no more. Having just finished watching the Ravens -Steelers game it is clear to see where the officials in that game earn their income. One can only wonder just how much the payoff was from Pittsburgh to the officials for their service of deciding the games winner. No one need challenege the validity of this claim as it was all to clear when officials are clearly seen watching penalties without calling them yet calling penalties barely visible if a penalty at all. My first love in sports was at one time USA Heavyweight Boxing. I could have loved no sport more. This is until Evander Holyfield clearly threw a fight to Lennox Lewis in the Gardens some years back. That was the end of my admiration for the sport of boxing as it was also for the Mayor of New York at that time. When the value of payoffs becomes the deciding factor of the winners in sports it not only becomes disgraceful but criminal as well. The entire officiating crew in the Ravens -Steelers game on 12/27/2009 are a disgrace on both a professional and a personal level. I would strongly suggest that their financial records as well as recent bank records and expenditures be examined closely to see just when and from where the money came.

In closing , I say this, if the commission is content to allow this corruption to continue it will do so without my support. Pro football in the USA has already become a sport of far to many penalty allowances of which many are truly pathetic ( end zone celebrations, end zone ball spikes, unsportsmen like conduct etc.) These very officials prefer to whine like infants over something as simple as words yet gladly take their payoffs. If their truly that meek in life then they have no business on a pro football field and should instead sit NFL season out at home with a pacifier and a diaper as they clearly have much growing up to do. NFL officials would not survive one season and most likely not one game in the NHL. God help us all should the NHL officials ever decide to become the little girls that the NFL officials clearly are. The best thing that could and should happen would be for all fans to simply abandon USA Pro Football in favor of a sport where the players effort and abilities decide the outcome rather than the corrupt eye of a bystander who happens to hold the power to change everything.

Cordially ,
Randy A. Breeden

The only player that gets penalties on a regular basis is cousins. We just get penalties at the very worst time. 3 touch downs just yanked off of the board. Masons miss was a freak of a thing, would happen once or twice in a season. Suggs block in the back, how often do you see Suggs getting flagged. It just is not going our way right now. I mean our entire secondary is shot and we still stayed in every game this year almost. We just need to get the frontline back together and run the ball the entire game next week and get our birth into the play offs.
