Lose Mcgahee And Find A Fullback!

Man, if we could get a Lorenzo Neal type guy we could run RR and LMac to NFL records.

Thoughts concerning making this a priority?

we have much deeper needs than this.......definitely not a priority
Rice is doing great as is and Mcgahees cap hit will not allow this.

McGahee has contributed many TDS this year...why this post

I think with a true, hard headed fullback, we could have THE dominant running attack.

It seems Leron may be more of a natural RB than a FB. Mcgahee is the odd man out.

j/k, but dayam, I think you should reconsider.

Oh really?

So I guess it didn't help us last year having Leron lead the backfield in rushing and TDs? Imagine that kind of production complimenting this year's RR.

Lorenzo Neal is the missing piece from last years' running game, especially on the goal line.

lose mcgahee? i think he has earned himself a spot on this team they just dont use him correctly... we need to use ray rice in the open feild, laron mcclain on tough yardage situations, mcgahee in the red zone therees no way you shoud get rid of him

Willis can run, but I think RR and Leron are at least as good if not better and they both have a lot more miles left in the tank. I think WM's roster spot would better used on a class FB.

I just see a much better running attack, especially in the red zone, with a pure fullback leading the way. We should have payed Ovie in 2007. Maybe we can find someone similar in the future.

Do you read this board? Do you pay attention to the Ravens organization?
If you did either, you would know that cutting/releasing Mcgahee is not going to happen due to financial reasons. His cap hit would be astronomical!!

It would've been astronomical last year. I think he has a buy-out clause or something similar to that in his contract which will allow the team to let him go next year without taking the cap hit.

As others have said, cutting McGahee doesn't really make sense financially, but from a pure on field perspective, I think a pure blocking full back would do our running game much more good than McGahee does. Yeah, he's scored a handful of TDs, but none of them were particularly impressive, mostly goal line carries or receptions, which McClain and Rice could've handled, respectively.

With a legitimate full back, McClain can carry the ball 15 times a game, With Rice getting probably getting 20-25 touches a game in a typical game. If we give the defense a dose of McClain early and late, it'll keep Rice fresh in the short term, and more importantly the long term, and it can bruise the defense and make Rice more effective with the touches he gets.

But as I opened with, we'll probably have to just let McGahee's contract run out instead.

One could argue that Willis' TDs are being stolen from Rice.

Not that I care (as long as we score I'm happy) but Willis always gets the ball on the goal line so your argument is pretty irrelevant.

McGahee and the fullback situation are not why the run game isn't "dominant."

The reason is because the Ravens don't run the ball enough. They feel obligated to let Flacco lose games by staring down receivers and not getting rid of the ball when he's supposed to. They want to throw 50 times a game because it's fun to watch, supposedly. It's all you WACCO FOR FLACCO types that have turned this team into a passing team when they have the most dominant offensive line, and should be running the ball 30 times a game.

QTF

I'm not going to point out any names due to respect for the posters and the moderators... but some people on this forum are so completely ignorant to the game of football I have no idea how they even understand what's going on during the game. It's mind blowing.
