Reed was reported as practicing during the media portion of practice today, but wasn't involved in full practice. There's a chance he plays, but not likely. Tom Zbikowski is expected to start and they're proceeding as such.

Apparently, Reed going to see a second specialist was just to confirm that the training staff was doing all the right things in helping Reed along with his injury; it wasn't a worst-case scenario like we all assumed, where he wanted a second opinion because the first wasn't what he wanted to hear. So this is pretty good news all-around, even though it'd be nice to have Reed healthy and available.

Reed is still listed as doubtful, so again, still the outside chance he plays. Despite the stakes, I'd rather keep him healthy in the long-term. I have enough confidence in Zbikowski based on how well he played in Reed's absence.

i am sure our ravens know troy is out so i am thinking reed will probably sit and heal up. i cant stand troy but that guy can change a game real quick so can reed. we beat them the first time around so i am confident we will win again.

This is definitely good news for us. As to whether Reed plays or not, you'd think they'd try to get him on the field even if he doesnt play every snap.

That isn't a bad idea. Reed could come in on third downs.

That means Rice will have more opportunity in the pass game now. With Troy covering him which Im sure Lebeau would do, Rice's ability to break big gains is limited. This will undoubtly put Rice with a LB like Timmons in coverage. Timmons is highly athletic and fast for a LB so this isnt like Farrior trying to cover Rice, but its easier on the Ravens than Polamalu.

I didn't even know he'd been seen by two specialists. O.o

Doubtful players only play 7.7 percent of the time, so I'm not holding my breath.

Zibby did look pretty good... against the Lions and Bears.

I'm glad Troy's out. It may give us an advantage, and we need every step up we can get.

Regardless of who's playing, this game will be epic.

Great game to cap off a great week -- should be even better if there's a win to go along with it AND a playoff berth clinched.

Remember: We need the Ravens, Patriots, and Colts to win for the easiest scenario to clinch.

If the ravens, pats, and eagles all an then we clinch a playoff spot.

Gotta love that big void in their secondary. That's alot of talent and pure football instinct lost. No "quarterback" for the DB's has to affect their scheme for the Ravens offense! Plus he ain't gonna be flying into our backfield on a blitz, his speed will be missed, just not by us!

If the Pats somehow lose, though, then we'd need the Colts, Eagles, and Texans to all win. This, of course, is still contingent on our Ravens taking care of business on their end, too.

Either way, clinching scenarios galore, and let's just pray for a late present from our boys with help...

I can hear some Steeler fans now when we win.
The VAST majority will say " D'oh! "

However, I can hear some Ravens fans if you don't ... (It was the refs).

If the unfathomable happens, this Steeler fan will back off from football for awhile, then watch Steelers demolish Miami, then come back here and say something nice about the Ravens, then root for them throughout the playoffs.

Troy not playing is a huge break. We were watching the Chargers play last night when they announced it. My 8 year old son high fived me. Not because you want to see anyone hurt, we have respect for the guy and think he's an incredible player no doubt. However, I'm happy to take a leg up where you can get it. I'd love to see Reed back on the field even in a limited capacity, but not if it's going to further injure him in any way. It's not worth it at that point. I believe this game is ours to win. I have complete faith in the team.

We need to go deep early and often to expose Carter and Clark... "It's time to hunt!"
Expose Carter, not Clark. I'd rather not have Clark licking his chops, trying to make another big hit. Even though a lot of his hits are borderline...very borderline. But that's a different discussion for the Game Thread! :)

I would love for Clark to go one on one with Rice, he would juke him out of his shoes. Even the first time we met this year he missed 2 or 3 tackles trying to go for a big hit.

I was just reading about this, and my thought is I'll believe it when I see it. I dont think Polamalu or Reed will play, but you never know. Either way, Ben still has all his best recievers in the game so Steeler Offense is what to watch out for. Its gonna come down to which set of QB/recievers has a better day. I still say Ravens will take this one like 31-10. The Steelers get a beating, then the Raiders, then we're off to the big challenge.

I really want D-Will to play on the outside this game, Clayton had a huge day against the Steelers last game but D-Will would force the Steelers to put Ike Clark on him to manage his height, speed, and vertical ability, and plus Gay on Mason is a disgusting mismatch. So they either bracket D-Will with a safety and Gay and have Taylor on Mason or put Taylor on D-Will and leave them alone. Clayton doesnt have that mismatch ability with their corners. That will either force Lebeau to completely play his zone blitz, or risk leaving Rice completely alone with a LB if he wants a safety over the top if he man blitzes. Make sense to anyone? lol im really tired I got up at 6am today.

if the steelers shut down ray rice and if they stock the box then it will be hard for us to get into a groove.
Then we set up the run with the pass. Keeping on topic, passing will be a better option with tp out. We get them off balance and run at will.

i thought we had to win and jags and bronco's had to lose in order for us to clinch on sunday.

There's, like, three different clinching scenarios possible for us. They're all detailed in the pinned Playoff Scenarios thread at the top in the first post.
