So If Chris Carr Takes Back Kr Duties...

18 posts in this topic

Which Chris Carr do you think we'll see? Tenn/Oak Chris Carr or Early Season Chris :( ??? Theres no doubt in my mind the field position advantage starts in the other teams' hands before the game even starts with Carr Returning. I hope we give someone else a chance. :)

Oneil Cousins would probably make a better kick returner.

it would take a few people, I guarantee that, he would run over the first 6 then someone would grab his legs.

With the emergence of Demetrius Williams and Kelly Washington at WR, I would like to see Mark Clayton returning punts and kickoffs. He was always very good at it in the past but he was our #2 WR. Now, considering Carr's increased workload with the injury to Webb, I think having Clayton returning all kicks makes sense.

I wish Ruki were still healthy, he would be playing Safety in Ed absence and Zibby would be returning kicks.

To answer the OP's question, I think we'll continue to see the Carr we've seen in recent weeks. He still looks jumpy at times but find holes faster and runs hard.

I personally want to see Zibby returning punts but I doubt that'll happen.

Oh crap I didn't even realize we have to replace Webb at KR too. I was so focused on the impending slaughter of our secondary at the hand of Roethlisberger that I forgot Webb was an excellent returner too. Has there ever been a more valuable rookie 3rd round pick in NFL history? Seriously!

Anyway to the point. Considering the importance of this game and the chance we can lock up a plaoff spot if we win to buy some key guys a week to rest, if Ed is able to play I think he should be our primary punt returner. Let Carr handle the kickoffs.

I agree, I've been wanting Clayton back there returning kicks all along.

Carr has been playing much better lately. Certainly not the dismal performances we saw at the beginning of the year. Cut him a little slack!

Reed is dangerous with the ball in his hands but at times, he can be a danger to the Ravens as well with his lateraling.

Agreed. He's been making much better decisions on punt returns and isn't as hesitant with the ball. Additionally (and most importantly of all), he hasn't turned the ball over. If Carr can at least secure solid field position, it wouldn't hurt. He doesn't need to be a threat to take it back to the house like Webb, he just needs to protect the football and be smart with it.

reed would be a better punt returner, mostly because he does not make one cut and hit the hole like a KR specialist would do. He's almost too non-chalant about it. As for Clayton, if he was not nursing a hammie I'd say go for it.
The cuts that a returner makes are far more explosive then as a WR becasue of the speed involved and the odds of getting hit HARD.

Considering how sloppy Pittsburgh plays on special teams, I am actually confident in Carr. I would put money on him having his first run back for a TD in this game, well, not a lot of money..
