Merged Next Up: Pitt

Well, everything went great today. Jets lost, Miami lost, Denver lost, But pitt somehow had those 3 seconds left on the clock for a toe touch Winning TD. I am confident going into this game that we can Expose their secondary and run on them, but our Defense NEEDS to get pressure or it could get ugly like vs Green Bay. We should treat this game just like Green Bay, a Stress on the Pressure. Webb being out is a massive blow. Thoughts?

Even before Webb getting hurt I didn't like our odds figuring the Stoolers would be all geared up to kick us out of the playoffs but now with him missing I think our secondary is toast

The secondary would've given up plays with Webb. Without him, it could get ugly. Hopefully, Reed is back and Carr, Walker and whoever else is brought up overachieve.

The offense needs to step up though. It's great to see them have their way with teams like Detroit and Chicago but it's about time they stepped up against a better defense.

This game has me scared out of my mind!

Pitt can play spoiler to Baltimore....something either team would relish. Our secondary has been average, at best, and now with Webb out...oh boy!!! Its in Pittsburgh, we're banged up and you know they're going to be geeked about the insane come from behind win tonight.

This is what its all about!! Can't wait until next sunday!

This statement is not true. A lot more needs to happen or not happen for this to ring true.......

If we loose to the steelers, we would have same record, but wouldn't we have tie breaker cause they lost to Cleaveland?
we'd have the better division record. A good amount of things have to happen for us to get in at 9-7. A LOT of things have to happen for the steelers to get in, not the least of which is we would have to lose to oakland as well.

They better keep this game at 1:00... I like our odds better in an afternoon game than an early evening/night game. Although, I don't think anything's getting flexed anyway.

The only good thing about the Squealers winning is that the "monkey" is off their back (losing streak), and they're primed to start another one. Amazing how Tomlin is rescued from his absolutely inexplicable/stupid onside kick call.

Originally I thought we got a lot of help today. But when thinking about it. It wasn't us that got the help. The help was for the Steelers.

Why not? They always rain on our parade. It will be a tough divisional game next week. Luckily for us, we might be able to afford losing the game but still making the playoffs at 9-7.

Looking back on it, I dont think it was a bad call, even if they lost. neither team could stop the others offense. SO his logic was if they recovered the game was basically over. If they did a regular kickoff, GB would have a long field to wind the clock down and kick the game-winner with no time left. By giving them a short field they kind of allowed them to score quick, knowing the GB defense couldnt stop Ben in this game. Still dont like the defensive call on GB's part. There should have been NO LINEMEN in the game at all and drop everyone into coverage, yes, all 11. There was only time for one play and if ben took off running you'd have 11 guys after him from all angles and he couldnt throw it once he went past the LOS, so it wasnt really a scrambling situation. I you've got 7 guys in the end zone and 4 covering in front there VERY LITTLE chance there's gonna be anywhere to throw to.

I'm alot more worried about our secondary than theirs. If Reed is still out we will be short Fabian, Webb, Reed, Nakamura, Gerard, and Rolle. I can't remember whether or not Cary Williams was injured, but that is a staggering list either way.

Our pass rush looked absolutely pitiful the last time we played, so needless to say, I'm a bit worried about the defense.

This game is no longer knock em out sluggfest as in the years past. It is now a shootout, first one to 30 wins.

Yeah, just like the last time we played them...

That's one way to look at it. I thought it would be much better to face them after they'd lost 6 six games and were wallowing in self pity. Now they've beaten a team that is better than us and they've gotten their confidence back.

I'm a lurker and a Steeler fan. Pittsburgh born and raised. Don't ask me why I'm finally registering now but I am to respond to the above. I'm not a troll just to get that out of the way. I was actually surfing around looking for opinions on the playoff scenario as it stands right now.

Anyway the last thing Tomlin's onside call was is stupid. I don't know if you watched the game but if you did you saw that our defense was not getting Rodgers and Co. off the field on 3rd down. Everyone here is worried about the Raven secondary. Everyone in Pittsburgh is worried about our own. Hopefully Troy can go next week but if I had to bet he most likely wont. Our defense was giving up long 3rd down conversions left and right and with less than 6 minutes in the game Tomlin gambled. A gamble that nearly worked if Ike Taylor would have allowed the ball to travel another yard. Either way Tomlin made the call because he knew with the short field GB was either going to kick a field goal, put one in for 6 or turn the ball over. If we kick it deep GB could put together a long clock eating drive and STILL SCORE.

Now the difference at this point should be obvious. A long GB drive that ends in a score leaves Big Ben and the Steeler offense a inadequate amount of time to answer. The onside kick that nearly worked all but guaranteed that Big Ben and Co would have more time to drive down field and answer. The result was 2 minutes and 1 timeout BECAUSE OF THE CALL you're labeling as "stupid". Tomlin's stupid call gave Pittsburgh the opportunity to win the game. He said the same in his press conference and also said he'd do it again. It wasn't a stupid call. It was a brilliant call. Next week should be a good one. Take it easy until then....

I'll be floating around.

Please Reed come back next Sunday. Big Ben killed the GB secondary with passes over the middle,I believe he had over 500 passing yards in this game. If we let that happen , we are ******ed. Walker will step up in the place of Webb, he's a player , he was born to play in such big games. I have a lot of faith in him . Yeah, he will probably take 3 or even 4 stupid penalties ,but you never know when he intercepts or makes a big tackle to change the momentum :D

I sure hope Ed Reed is back, we'll need some real help back there. What a pity to lose Webb, the thought of Carr and Walker in regular rotation is making me feel sick already...

I applaud your enthusiasm and optimistic outlook, but really?

I try to love every Raven, but the dudes a bum.....but I guess hes a bum that I'll be cheering for next week.

I'm a little worried about how Frank Walker is going to do because he always causes pass interferance. He made a great interception against the Bears, but I don't think he is anywhere as good as Lardarius Webb.

All we've got to do is take away Santonio Holmes. If the Ravens make a true effort to doing that, I think we'll find out Pittsburgh will have a hard time finding the end-zone. And when you bring pressure, make sure not to open up the middle for Roethlisberger to do his slow-motion Baywatch-run for 20 yards.

For some reason, this game doesn't scare me. Ben Ben and his receivers haven't been a good match-up for the Ravens in over three seasons and yet going back to last year, the Ravens have hung with them every time.

Ben can be pressured(at times from his own doing), their secondary is even more leaky than the Ravens' secondary and their running game isn't very impressive.

The Ravens definitely can and should win this game in my opinion.

It's a good concern. And if he's starting we are going to see what he is really made of. Because the Steelers will test him early and often.

Every time Walker is inserted into a game, it's like the opposing team recieves a memo - "Test Walker". Next thing they are chucking it his way. Luckily the Bears receivers yesterday sucked.

But Holmes, Ward, and especially the burner Wallace will make him pay on Sunday.

If anyone scares me, it's Wallace. Foxworth can keep up with Holmes in my opinion(even though Holmes will make some plays) and Walker or Carr can keep up with Ward but there is no one on the team, that we know of, that can cover Wallace.

Same here. Wallace will be a burner during this game. Speed and hands are going to kill us here.

Unless Carr plays the game of his life. I really want to see KJ Gerard or Cary Williams but it's tough to see them getting much playing time even if both of them are better than Walker and Carr.

With Webb going down, our secondary looking poor and with Rothlisberger throwing for 500+ yards yesterday. Our best bet is to pray for another blizzard! Let's take the passing attack out of the game.

Right now we have foretasted flurries in Pittsburgh. So there is hope!
