Why Arent The Ravens On Tv Anymore?

27 posts in this topic

I live in Maryland and the ravens are always on channel 15 or 16 or one of those channels and last week they wern't on and now again this week there not on. It really aggrivates me because every raven game the past about 3 years has been on tv without missing one. Whats going on? I really want to watch the ravens especially with them in the thick of the wild card race. Paid Programming is overtaking the ravens normal time slot could someone please explain this to me thanks so much!

It depends on where in Maryland you live; you may live in the primary market for the Redskins rather than the Ravens, in which case, NFL broadcasting rules would dictate that no Ravens game would air in conflict with a Redskins game since the Redskins would technically be the "home" market. There's some more iffy stuff to it as well, but that's the best I can come up with.

Also, it depends on your local CBS or FOX affiliate (depending on which network carries the game for which particular week), as they determine which game to air at times and sometimes ignore NFL broadcasting maps, often going with the game that they feel will bring in higher regional ratings (and, in essence, higher advertising revenue.)

Yes.

Then like Franchise said, you're in the Redskins territory now.

How I love my DirecTV sports package. Every NFL game, every week, live.

SAME HERE! I live in Ohio and without NFL Sunday Ticket I would only be able to see maybe 5 ravens games a year. Now I get the ALL. Very worth it!!!

Its not because of Redskin's area, it's basically because FOX has the rights to all NFC teams and being the Ravens play the Bears that game must be televised by a FOX channel. Like where I live I will either get the Steelers/Green Bay or Philly/49ers or Ravens/Bears game. I'm not sure which one yet in my area.

Wait, you're right, I forgot that last week and this week's games were both carried by FOX. My bad.

That said, even being on FOX, if you live in a market that's not a primary Ravens market, it still depends on the home team's game whether or not you'll see the Ravens game being played. I won't see it in my area on cable because of the Eagles game taking precedent, this being an Eagles market. I'm forced to watch it on my antenna instead.

since i live in pg county....

only gauranteed games are away games when 2ndary markets have to show ya game!
and those weeks redskins will play at a different time or network.

DC has to show the Ravens's away games. Home games DC doesn't have to show them.
hopefully they show the Raven's game in DC!

DC has to show ravens away games cuz 2ndary markets have to do so!
and those weeks the redskins will play at a different time or a different network...NFL sets up the ravens
and redskins games not to conflict when either team plays away....

home games are a problem to get in DC!

the thing is if you live in anne arundel, howard, You get DC and b-more networks.
cuz metro areas overlap in those counties

hopfeully the Ravens get the nod in DC this week on fox!...but alot of times they give precdence to
an NFC east team!

I like how the mods on this forum feel people shouldn't be irate over not seeing the game. I seriously hate this forum so much, and the Ravens management staff more so.

I don't know if it will help or not but I just went on myfoxdc.com and complained that on the TV guide it still says Ravens vs Bears, but now we are stuck watching the Philly game???? This is crazy.

There are ways to complain without resorting to foul language (I don't believe it was you, but not sure), and without constantly harping on it in multiple topics or calling out our staff.

We have nothing to do with the coverage of the game, and neither did the Ravens. Take your complaints to your local FOX affiliate. There are ways of contacting them.

DC (and its tv stations) are a Redskins primary market who have basically said they don't care about Ravens fans, complain to the station.

Up until recently neither station (cbs or fox) would play either unless there was no other nfc east team playing. CBS seems to have backed off this stance but fox hasn't complain to them.

www.myfoxdc.com/subindex/about_us/contact_us Tell it to some one that "Has the Power", the Ravens org and staff have nothing to do with secondary markets, it is the NFL and local affiliates. The weather messed up a lot of things this weekend.

It goes with the territory of having one of the smallest media markets. We are sandwich'd between three historic teams. The Redskins, Eagles and Steelers. All who have dominant market share.

But the NFL should step in. Baltimore Ravens are Maryland's team. And it should be shown to all of Maryland.

Ravens primary market is half of Maryland. There is no other team with that small of a primary market. When the game isn't shown to the secondary market, half of Maryland can't watch their team.

I think this can be addressed with the next CBA and TV negotiations.
I agree something needs to be done and start by e-mailing the TV stations. The weather on the East Coast had more to do with the entire TV circular firing squad then anything else today.
I understand being upset and frustrated, I had the same thing happen when I was on vacation 2 years in a row, granted it was pre-season and not the playoff run--MASN in VA and NC LIE!

You know where it's at. I have Game Pass, same deal, but online. All the same, if you want to see every game nowadays (regardless of where you are), it seems you have to pay for it.

Mind you, if a student from a country where $1 buys 75 US cents on a good day can afford it, I'm sure most people won't mind fronting the cost.

1: get DirectTV NFL ticket.
2: Get field pass
3: go to a local sportsbar or restaurant who has nfl ticket.

I was in the same situation these past 2 weeks. Fox was playing both weeks and I had to go to a bar. It sucks but it happens. Anytime I see were playing on Fox or now NFL network recently be prepaired to do 1 of the 3.

worse case senario go to a sportsbar or espn zone or dave & busters in the DC area.

ravens usually won't be on the big screen....but you can watch em on the small screen!
steelers, ravens, redskins, colts, & saints been gettin' play for the last month at dave & busters at white flint!!!

BUT HEY ALL AWAY GAMES HAVE TO BE SEEN IN 2NDARY MARKETS! last two games will be televised in all of maryland and york pa!

when u have B-more and DC 30miles apart...this is what happens! AA county and Howard County share metro areas!
da burgh and philly are on comeplete opposite sides of the state so fanbases don't cross. Central PA westward is stillers country.

I'm sure skins fans around b-more get mad too....
ravens and redskins games should be simul-casted in maryland on MASN! period!

Orioles and nats can be seen anywhere in maryland, dc, and northern virginia.
