Big Snow Storm Coming

79 posts in this topic

Anyone else excited about the snow in the Baltimore/DC area. Over a foot of snow is a possibility if the storm takes the inside track.

Going to buy some new sleds and get ready.

My friend at the national weather satation says this could reach blizzard status.

Even though I hate shoveling it, I still do excited for the first snow....or the prospect for a white Christmas.

I want dark purple, not white, dark purple.

It'll be there soon enough. It's too far out for them to predict it yet. But if the storm takes the inside track we'll be seeing some dark purple.

You're in NY, right? This storm system might miss you.

Right now they are predicting a white Christmas for the Maryland area.

My area could get anywhere from 4-8 inches depending upon where the center of the system travels (I'm up in the grey). We'll see. This could put crimps in the travel plans Sunday morning.

Could really mess us up for Sunday. Getting to the stadium is going to be a nightmare.

I was sort of hoping it would snow when I'm at the game Sunday. But yea, gotta make sure you get their earlier than usual.

And please nobody throw snowballs at Santa!

Good thing my friends live close enough that they can walk. But if I want to go to the game, I'd have to leave now and spend the weekend. And I've got too much stuff to do this weekend :(

I love the snow.... I can't wait.

My old high school has brilliant hills for sledding. You best believe that's where I'll be.

I have heard anywhere from 3 inches to several feet. Anyone have an accurate-ish number? If it is over a foot, I go skiing!
[/quote]

bob turk on wjz has said 12 inches of snow or more In Baltimore , he said that 12 inches could be an understatement.

In Northern Virginia, we are expected to get at least 10 inches more more (possibly two feet).

I'm just glad I don't have to go to work. :P

They really do not have a precise number because it depends on the track of the storm. If it hugs the coast pulling moisture from the Atlantic it will dump snow on us greater than any forecast.

If the storm veers slightly off the coast, it'll still snow but to a lesser degree like 3-7 inches in the Maryland region.

I have a good friend at the weather station to say they are expected the worse. Saying it could reach blizzard standards. And 12+ inches is easily obtainable. But once again, it depends on the track.

It all really depends on who you listen too. Some are going conservative, some are going aggressive. No one is going uber-aggresive, but the storm could end up worse.

It won't be a disappointment but it could beat most forecasters predictions.

Really? I was under the impression that two feet would be the absolute worst that we could expect. Now here's something even scarier to think about: if I go to the grocery store, will I make it out alive? :o
