Crazy when you think about how if he didn't get injured in our game against them, he would have been with his team instead. Of course, that doesn't mean something similar to this never would have happened anyway... Feel bad for his kids though.
I wouldn't think of it like that...I would rather think "What if he never jumped in the back of the truck." He's not a victim of circumstances, he made a bad choice, and the worst case scenario played out.

Such a shame. So young with his whole life ahead of him. I would also like to express my sincere sympathy to Cincy fans that visit out forums. He will be missed by ALL. He was a great competitor.

A bunch of us from Steelers fever, as well as fans from all over have been offering condolences via the Bengals forum.

For anyone who is interested in representing the Ravens fan base:

I'm very impressed by what I've seen over there so far and I'm sure you guys will continue to impress them as well.

Same with Sean Taylor. If he wasnt injured he wouldnt have been home when those kids broke in.....

Very interested to hear the woman's part of the story.

Yes he was on IR and the team felt it best for him to be with his family. It was a more suitable invirnment than on the sidelines wishing for something he could not have this year.

I was thinking the same, what is he was not on IR?

"Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust." For those who don't know, ouR lives on this earth is TEMPORARY and even our failure to BELIEVE GOD's word will not change HIS MIND!

Some may have heard this poem before, but for those who haven't, I want to dedicate this to the family of Chris Henry:

LIFE IS JUST A MINUTE.
ONLY SIXTY SECONDS IN IT.
FORCED UPON US, CAN'T REFUSE IT.
DIDN'T SEEK IT, DIDN'T CHOOSE IT.

IT'S UP TO US IN HOW WE USE IT.
SOME WILL SUFFER, SOME WILL LOSE IT.
WE'RE HELD ACCOUNTABLE, IF WE ABUSE IT.

YUP, JUST ONE TINY LITTLE MINUTE.
OUR OWN SIXTY SECONDS, OUR OWN ETERNITY BUILT IN IT.

I was so very sorry to hear this, too young. I saw a picture of him and his fiance the kids are all babies like under 4 and a baby.
I know a girl in my neighborhood did something like this, arrested on her way to Shock Trauma but ended up making it. Fell out of her boyfriends pickup.

Not sure who you "KNOW" that "KNEW" him? If noone, then you are simply speaking ill of the dead based on something someone who did not KNOW Chris has said about him. Your parents must be proud.

I dont need to know him to see public knowledge of him beating his GF, pulling firearms on people, supplying minors with alcohol and just a basic history of making poor decisions (which lead to him being a bad person). instead of questioning the pride my parents hold for me, think about the lack of pride inwhich he garnered from his family. Maybe YOU should take things at face value instead of letting your emotions get involved. Pretty simple to concur that he could have prevented this by simply not getting into the truck. Pretty obvious to me he was acting reckless, thus bringing this WHOLE situation upon himself.

Drive thru, come again.

Enough of the scriptures, it's not judging if its FACT.

That's enough of the judgment; we all know about his track record, and we know that the Bengals organization cared deeply for him. That's all we know. No need to further speculate on his character, as that's irrelevant now that he's passed.

Let's let the man rest. We have our own opinions of him, and there's a way of expressing it without being overly disdainful. Let's just keep the speculation out of this, out of respect for the family of the deceased.

His reckless behavior is documented so I can't argue with the facts. After seeing some of his interviews and knowing that he attended WVU(community college academics with top tier sports programs), it is clear that while supremely athletically gifted, Chris Henry was not the most intelligent man in the nfl.

To document his life on an evolutionary scale brings interesting contrasts. Had this been the cave man era, his physical gifts would have made him a seriously effective hunter, allowing him to be the best provider, thus making him top choice for reproductive seed by the cave ladies. His offspring would likely be gifted hunters as well and the natural selection process continues....

As our society grows more cerebral, those who were once destined for success because of their physical attributes, are being weeded out by the shift in natural selection. Would bill gates have been an excellent hunter or would he have starved to death? I'd take chris henry on my hunting squad any day of the week over a poorly postured nerd like mr. gates, but this is a different era.

Chris Henry was a modern day hunter thriving in a society that rarely rewards physical gifts (except the few in professional sports). His mind however was still struggling through the logical decision making processes. While most males ages 15-24 make very stupid decisions, they rarely lead to death. The the greater frequency of poor decisions made, the likely hood of costly reprocussion increases. Our own Mr. Lewis's decision making put him in similar situations.

It is sad to think how close Mr. Henry was to successfully making it out of this stage in his life. But from an evolutionary standpoint, he thrived long enough to reproduce several times, and his offspring may carry his decision making gene.

This leads to a very important conclusion. While we adore our gladiators and athletic superstars, educate your offspring, so that if they never see a seven figure professional sports contract, they may live a long life through sound choices and compensation based on cerebral capabilities.

So what is your point in all of this? Are you saying that he deserved to die?

I'm not saying he deserved to die, I'm saying his death is the result of natural selection. His pattern of poor decision making proved a weakness in congnitive ability during his youth. While many males of his age display irrational behavior, it is those that survive this period of logical aversity who are intended to reproduce. Chris Henry was able to reproduce before his decisions cost him his life thus passing on the gene, even though natural selection may not have intended this, it prevented him from having more offspring.

It isn't about deserving, it's about biology.

not at all, but accountability is something that people take for granted.
He certainly put himself in the posistion to loose his life and his family. It's sad, but I cant say he helped his own cause. I chalk it up to being the straw that broke the camels back.

Okay, just wondering...for a minute it seemed like you were going in a completely different direction with this.
He was no saint, no one questions that. I agree with what you said about accountability, which is exactly why I said what I did previously about "what if he never jumped in the truck" rather than wondering what if he never got injured in a game.
I'm just saying that while he is accountable for his decisions, a life lost is something to be mourned. How he lived his life is a seperate issue altogether.

I think you misunderstood me, I should have bolded out what I was referring to, it was speaking to the fact that Alexir and I agreed on something, that it was creepy and NEVER thought it would come to light.

Chad wants to wear Henry's jersey for the game this weekend, NFL's gonna fine him. Eh, I think Chad's heart is in the right place but he's kind of making this all about him. He should just wear his own jersey, wear the 15 decal and play for his fallen teammate.
