I hope all is well and he gets better. I certainly have been thinking about him and hoping that he will be ok. Just saw something on PFT that said he is now on Life Support. Come on Chris, stay strong!!

This kid's been needing to learn a few valuable lessons. I hope that this one hasn't cost him his life.

Hope not, Hopefully if he lives through this one which I hopes he does it will finally get through to him.

Needless to say I'll be keeping him and his family in my prayers and I hope he recovers.

Aol reporting that he is on life support, and a source with direct knowledge says he is not expected to make it. Everyone pray for him, he has made so many bad decisions, but no one deserves this.

Just terrible. Something should happen to these people making comments like "he's a thug and deserved this" on these online stories.

I hope all turns out well, but knowing head injuries, probably not. If his brain stops swelling, he might survive. If not, well...

The reports don't sound good. Unfortunate, but maybe more people will see this and realize rising in the back of pickups is a big no-no regardless of the situation.

Shortly after I hit post, found this. RIP.

It's a sad story. Its sad to see a young person go early. But the feeling sorry feeling for him is hard to get.

This kid has been given chance after chance. Chasing a domestic dispute in the back of a pickup truck. Is the type of death that Darwin would note as natural selection.

I'm sorry if that was harsh, but there is a reason why there are seatbelts attached to seats INSIDE of a car. It's dangerous enough inside.

At the risk of sounding insensitive, I feel more bad for his children than I do for Chris Henry. No one deserves to die in such a manner; but then again, if they were a direct consequence of his actions, it's not shocking that things unfolded this way. He's had a long track record of questionable behavior, so it's sad, but this will at least serve as a cautionary tale for others. Hopefully this will prevent another such incident from happening.

Again, my condolences to the family and friends of Chris Henry, especially his children.

anyone here if there will be any criminal charges tried against the girl? i know details are sketchy was just wondering.
They would probably have to prove that she intentionally threw him out of the bed of the truck to injure him. That's impossible to prove without witnesses/cameras. Now if they can prove she didn't stop after knowing he was in the back, or even if he tried to yell stop, then they may have a case for endangrement or even manslaughter. It's all a guess right now. I bet she feels terrible.

That is terrible, I don't know what he was doing jumping on the back of a pickup truck as it began to move. Regardless, it's terrible that it ended like that.

I feel really bad for his kids :(

hopefully not, if he knowingly jumped into the back of a moving vehicle. What a REAL mess that would be for the kids: Dad dead, mom in jail.

Agreed. Really dumb move.

How many kids does he have? Hopefully they are very young and the impact of this will be lessened on them due to lack of memories.

RIP, man.

Agreed.

We all have decisions we have to make. What ever actions we take, we have to be ready to suffer the consequences. Riding in the back of a pickup truck going at x speed is a conscious decision that led to a reasonable consequence.

But I do feel bad for the people that loved him and his kids.

I believe he has three. Given that he was only 26, it's my guess they're all under eight.

^^^ i agree completely!

whether this was a bad decision (perhaps made in the heat of emotions) on Henry's part to jump into the back of a speeding pickup truck to stop his fiance from leaving or whatever...is really irrelevant at this point! really it is! a young man has died here! a father and mother has lost a son....siblings lost a brother and children have lost their father.

this is a horrible thing to happen to anyone including Henry irregardless of how he "use" to behave (trouble with the law etc.) and live his life in previous years. maybe a fews years ago this event wouldn't be so shocking but because of Henry turning his life around (as stated by the Bengals organization, his teammates and coach Marvin Lewis), this was very unexpected and has caught everyone off guard.

my deepest condolences goes out to Henry's family, his children and the Bengals organization!

R.I.P. CHRIS HENRY

Such a shame. Great player on the field. I know he had off the field issues, but no one deserve a fate like that. My thoughts go out to his friends and family.

This is awful news. All the best wishes to his family.

God our Father,
Your power brings us to birth,
Your providence guides our lives,
and by Your command we return to dust.

Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
I pray in hope for the family, relatives and friends, of Chris Henry and for all the dead known to You alone.

In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may they rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
Unite us together again in one family,
to sing Your praise forever and ever.

Most of us don't personally know Chris Henry, so we don't know for sure if he was really turning his life around -- that's the only reason why I feel more for his children, his family, and his friends, than him as a person.

Still a tragedy, though, because no one should die young, especially when there's innocent children who have to live with the burden of their parent being taken from them too soon.

In a sense, this is almost reminiscent of the death of Sean Taylor. The difference is, Taylor was sleeping and trying to protect his family when he was killed; Henry simply made a bad decision, if the details are as they imply. But, Taylor had a spotty record like Henry did, with another key difference being that Taylor was actively repairing his image in the community after the birth of his daughter -- hence the huge outpouring of emotion throughout the league and within the Redskins fanbase.

I'm not sure if Henry's death will receive the same reception as Taylor's death, but that's not for myself to speculate. A life was taken and that's the bottom line here.

true Franchise! we don't know Henry...but...the Bengals owner, coach Marvin Lewis and his teammates all knew him! and these cats (as i mentioned in my previous post) are the one's that said he turned his life around completely. this was just an unfortunate event in his short lived life that ended in his death.
