McBoller

I Cant Stand Scramblers.

29 posts in this topic

I just played this guy last night who used the cowboys. After every snap he just sprinted for the sideline and threw all the way across the field to Barber or Witten and got an easy 20+ yards every time. Id chase him down with a LB but couldnt catch Romo. If I left him alone and covered everyone he'd run it for 10yds easily. I just had to concede after i was down 28-0 in the 3rd.

I hate that so much too, I play someone using the eagles and he take mcnabb out and slobers all over Vick and just runs him on passing plays or throws across his body on the other side of the field and gets a TD, I hate EA sports with a passion BRING BACK 2K football, madden please DO NOT buy the rights.

Well, even with the times I've beaten you when we've played, you have to at least appreciate that I play the game the right way. I rarely scramble, if ever. Only do it out of desperation if I'm losing, even then, I don't abuse it.

Never really had a problem with them. Unless they break the tackle of the guy I send to them. Zones are usually good for those types. Zone blitzes/CB Blitzes.

It's easy to stop a scrambler if you know how to put your DE on contain or put a LB on QB contain. The nice thing about putting your DE on contain is that if he try's a screen to that side he covers it. Well I hope this helps you out next time your online.

I hate them too... the way they take away your radar... but I like them because alot of times it lets you know when someone is close or closing in on you

oh my bad... ya'll are talking about madden.... I was talking about MW2

Generally scramblers role one direction favorably, i just force my DE to work the flats but I take control. The first initial move it outside, then run the horn, most of the time the QB's are too focused down field its an easy sack.
if you have a some what fast DE.

Ive noticed that most times they scramble away from the side of the defensive player you are controlling, so usually I'll do the DE contain thing with my RE and control me LE to fake them out, but I havent gotten it to work well yet. CB blitzes work sometimes too, but this guy wriggled out of 5 or 6 "dead-in-the-water" type tackles with his QB, after that I just gave up.

I do not like DE in contain. At most I'll have one, but not usually. I like a minimum of 3 rushers and a spy.

I don't like using two guys on contain, however if your playing someone that knows how to use a QB scramble then I will focus my DE on taking it away. I only do this when i'm in a zone coverage but I blitz 99% of all plays. Also I use Baltimore with the 4-6

I think blitzes with a spy behind them work best. Against the computer I would use a mix of man/zone blitzes, but against a human player: Zone blitz.

I blitz a lot too, but not always. I tend to get sacks and picks when I go 100% coverage too, but base D is my change of pace rather than the other way around. But it also depends on down/distance and any other variable that may come into play.

Against the computer, I run zone-blitzes pretty much every play. If you play a zone, then the perfect blocking gives the QB ample time to find an open guy. If you run a blitz and play man, they get rid of the ball so quickly. I've never had a problem with scramblers, and if they try to throw across their body, it's usually a pick for me.

The computer QB's are usually better at one than the other. It's up to you to determine early which one it is.

use a spy. problem solved... or just go into your player config and put one of your LBs on the QB every play, and run zone around them

I didn't realize assigning a player to the QB was an option. Cool. Although, I have had issues with that option (assigning my best CB to their best WR). If they come out in certain formations, one guy seems to be uncovered and I never realize it in time.

tried that, they always seem to get the ball off JUST in time, NEVER getting sacked or throwing up a lame duck. And whomever they throw it to is ALWAYS open. half the time their not even in the picture til the ball sails their way.

All I know is a certain Marc2K6 tried to do some scrambling against me, nad going for it on 4th down... :P

I had to make sure to fake FG him in the redzone for a TD. Nothing brings satisfaction like knocking off a level 16 player when you're lvl 1. : P, even if it was luck! It didnt hurt that Haloti picked off Ben within 1:30 left. I love dropping my guys into coverage on an obvious passing down.

I'm not good, but I'm learing how to play the game now and paying attention to detail as if I were actually on the field! It helps a lot.

This isnt a scrambling beef but check this out. I played a guy who used the Pats like level 22 or something high like that. He came out in a base 1-5-3-2 or that Nickel Prowl thing that has everyone standing up. In real life this formation would get absolutely destroyed by a power run game, so thats what I do. Not happening, Wilfork peels off blocks, LBs charge right past my Oline, nobody blocks anybody it was ridiculous. Counters, pitchs, power Os, Isos nothing work. So im like alright w/e hes got 5 LBs Ill go 4 and 5 WR formations, spread him out. He comes out in the Nickel Prowl 5 LBs on the field, press man coverage I can see it right away. So i put Rice and Heap on quick slants and those streak things to break the press, over the middle get past the press. Doesnt work, he blitzs 5 and AD comes untouched everytime, Rice and Heap cant break the press before AD gets to me. I slide protection, same thing NOT 1 SINGLE WR breaks off the press it was absolutely ridiculous. It was honestly the same damn defensive play call all game and no one could break off the press. I tried screens, didnt work he user controlled Merriweather and blew them up or my guys wouldnt block. By the time I figured out that putting Rice in motion from the backfield to the LOS and quickly snapping the ball and chucking it 999 actually worked it was too late. I ended up losing by 7 and never been so baffled and pissed off at a video game that claimed to be a simulation in my life.

I had the same problem with a guy playing as the Pats, except he ran a 46 zone blitz all game long and picked me off three times because of either lame-duck passes or rushed throws. Yet, he did nothing on offense and ran the same WR screen all game long as well.

He still beat me by 7 -- points that came off an INT return for a TD. Most annoyed I've ever been by a close game.

lol, even though I've posted in this thread a few times, it's taken on a whole new meaning to me since I started playing MW2 on-line. I saw the title and was about to respond with "Why? You know when they're near." lol

Ive only played 2 or 3 scrambler type people online on Madden 10 but they didnt do it as much as that guy did to you. Maybe 8 times all game, never more than a 12 yard gain. I dont always use the same team. 90% percent of the time its the Ravens but I mix it up sometimes with the Vikings and 49ers.

Good one got me last night. Up 5 late in the fourth I downed a punt at the 6 yard line. There was less than 2 minutes left. I played prevent and only rushed two. He had an easy 10-15 yd run open, but I had coverage in the flat to make sure he stayed in bounds. Despite this he attempted repeated hail marys. On 4th and 10 he runs the same play and scrambles for about 15 seconds. Throws a bomb from teh right side of the field to the left and hit Desean jackson for a 94yd TD. I was pissed. He got what He deserved when i ran the kickoff back for a td with :04 left on the clock, muahahaha.

Played a guy last night, he used the eagles and I had the ravens. He kicked to me I go down the field for 7 I kick to him and everysingle freakin play he scrambles for an easy 5-10 yards. So when I think I have him he scrambles right to the line of scrimmage and makes my CB and safety cheat up and boom 30+ yard completion.
Does anyone actually play proper out there anymore? Like if you stop me on 3rd and 5 I'll admit defeat and punt. I'm sick of scramblers.
My gamertag on xbl is rayrave52

Did you beat me the last time we played? What ever level you are on has nothing to do with if you can play or not, just how often you play online and I have a bunch of friends that I play with online. Just so happens I'm better than most of them. I say we get a Ravens forum league going and battle it out.
