So Am I Not An Indiginous Ravens Fan?

10 posts in this topic

I live in maryland, baltimore is a city in maryland, yet I could not get the Ravens game because I was out of the fox area and forced to watch the Redskins game. Are they telling me I don't have the indigenous right of being a Ravens fan?

I started watching the Ravens in HS in 97' I didn't know alot about football then. But, the games would always be on TV and I respected their go hard mentality. And, now I am denied to watch Ravens on TV because apparently their not my home team.

Am I not an indigenous Raven?

I think it has to do with secondary football markets. If you live south its the Redskins secondary market and they were playing late I knew that looking at the TV coverage maps there were going to be a lot of very unhappy Ravens fans. Frederick County west did not get the game. FYI next week is going to be just as bad since we are at home and its on Fox again. I HATE it when the team is on FOX, AND Billick is in the booth against the Bears

I could be wrong but it happens with every team in their respective states. When you look at the coverage maps it tends to be divided in an odd fashion.

You're right about that.I live in Illinois and the line for CBS is the border with Indiana. Our cable system has 2 CBS affiliates, one in Terre Haute,IN. and the other in Champaign,IL.The one in T.H. well you know what that means,no choice,Indy!Unless they play an NFC team than Fox might get it and I stand a chance. The one in IL. some times goes different but rarely unless Indy is on Sunday night or Monday than both are free to choose.Fox is all Bears unless(See above)than they show the Rams, yep, the Rams!If all this makes no sense welcome to my world! There's one thing I do know I will get to see the game Sunday, unless someone digs a hole and cuts the cable and I wouldn't be suprised!

I do know Western Md is "funny" and get the DC stations because as the crow flies DC is 5 miles closer the Baltimore. When I was engaged to my husband he lived in Hagerstown and all he got was the DC channels and WJZ for some reason. Its crazy.

It still bothers me that Southern DE is a Ravens market while Northern DE (where I live) is an Eagles market, yet Newark is roughly the same driving distance away from Philly as from Baltimore.

You'd figure with Flacco's ties to the Ravens now, the entire UD market (a/k/a Northern DE) would somehow be enough of a reason for the TV market to be restructured to fit accordingly. Sure, there's much more work that goes into it, but dammit, I wanna start watching Ravens football on cable instead of with an antenna in my tiny bedroom!...

I reckon when it comes to TV the old saying is reversed."Don't hate the game, hate the players!"aka TV executives.

No, all of a sudden I can't watch the games? Ravens should of been more thoughtful of what and where their product is being broadcasted. Its like buying a phone that gets certain areas then all of a sudden you're limited to half of what you were before. Its bullcrap and unprofessional.

My dad had the same problem this past weekend, the Redskins were on. We are in Frederick County...I hope we get the game this Sunday!

Edited to add that I forgot the Skins play on MNF so we should be okay with the Ravens being on Fox then for Sunday's game here.
