The Flacco Flack

24 posts in this topic

Please oh Please say it aint so baltimore , yes flacco has made poor decisions yes he has ,made mistakes and fumbled once or twice. I remember once people said baltimore would never do anything we were cursed ...we always managed to find a way ....to lose. only a few qbs came under seriouse fire . Testaverde and boller being 2 of them. we finaly get a kid that can do the job he gets banged up and you call for his head same as they do in philly , this is making me remember the first few year philly had mcnabb , first year he was great , he got cheered , next year he could have done better and he was a bum they want him kicked to he curb ......... please say it aint so baltimore say it aint so .

should we follow the pattern of them with Joe we may lose him. we dont want to bounce QBs or we will make this a 2007 season for the next 3 years. please lets not go there with them we dont want to be booing santa claus and cursing at our mascotts. we have got to be better then that.

I couldn't agree. Criticizing a QB is nothing new and is warranted when a QB plays badly but what irks me is when people bring up Troy Smith as if he's ever proven he was a better QB than Flacco. Joe is only in his second year and although he's struggling right now, he's going through the same problems every good QB before him has experienced. People just need to be patient.

Whether this is related or not...I was in the Shenk and Title in the Westminster mall yesterday and all the Flacco jerseys and t-shirts are all the sudden $30 off...kinda odd considering none of the other jerseys were marked down at all. I sent a friend a text asking if the fanbase were turning into fair weather fans.

I am as die-hard of an Ohio State fan as anyone I know and I loved everything that Troy Smith did while he was a part of the team but I've stated from day one he is not an NFL starting caliber QB.

Support your starting QB and let him work through this. The guy went 11-5 last year and is now 6-6 this year with some tough losses; he's not Peyton Manning. He is going to lose some games. He just needs to realize what he's doing wrong and fix it.

That's been the problem, though. He isn't fixing these issues and making the necessary adjustments. After the Indy disaster that cost us a shot at the game, he comes back against Green Bay, in a very similar situation, and does the same thing! I know he will learn, but the NFL is a "right now" league, and right now, Joe is under-performing, and it's hurting this team... let me add by saying that the O-line is also performing well under par, which is really why Joe is making some of the mistakes.

I think Flacco has already established him self as the Franchise QB of the ravens. Unless he plays like monday 5-6 times in a row, don't expect boo's.

I don't think so. People can bash him on forums, but it'll be all cheers on gameday. I know we are all frustrated, but deep in all of hearts, I think we got the feeling of finally having found a franchise QB.

Those same people need to realize the Heisman means jack in the NFL. Countless players have won that award and played like doo doo in the NFL or have been complete non factors. The Heisman usually goes to the fastest kid, in the biggest spread offense, from the biggest BCS school anyway.

Boller and Vinny had nothing compared to what Elvis Grbac had. Think about it, we come off a Super Bowl year and spend a boat load on Grbac and he curls up like a little baby every time he hit may have been coming. Eventhough he led us to the playoffs sort of, he was thrashed in the media and in the locker room...Sooo much so that he basically was booed into retirement.

You got a front row seat for that circus my man!It divides the locker room, the fans, undermines players confidence and the list goes on.Besides that, the one name that all Raven fans should remember, and I know you do is Derek Anderson.Coulda, shoulda, woulda, but at the end of the day it's Flacco for me!Nice game against Pittsburgh by the way,you must still be feelin' that!

I've said it A MILLION TIMES and I may as well make it 1,000,001. It's Flacco's SECOND season people! He's not going to be Peyton Manning yet. Yeah, he has made a few costly mistakes this year, but so has the entire team and coaching staff! Flacco needs more experience, possibly a new OC, an Oline that will protect him, and a receiver that can get separation down field. This is just the beginning of phase one of Flacco's career. PATIENCE!

And I've said from day 1 that people who make comments like you make no sense. Troy Smith is just as capable of doing everything Joe Flacco has done these last two years. If you can have players like Kyle Orton, Kyle Boller, Rex Grossman, Jason Campbell, Jake Delhomme, and even Tony Romo playing QB in the NFL... then Troy Smith is PLENTY capable of being a "NFL caliber quarterback."

If you want to sit on here and say that "Troy Smith supporters can't say Troy Smith is better than Flacco because he hasn't proven anything" then we have every right to say that "Joe Flacco supporters can't say Troy Smith sucks because he hasn't done anything to prove that either."

All I know is... in his VERY limited action, he's undefeated against the Steelers... he's thrown 3 touchdowns an 0 interceptions, ran for a touchdown... and been a great sport about it all. He's also had the accuracy to hit an awkward running Joe Flacco in stride... which is much harder than hitting a receiver in stride.

Every QB has to go through a funk. Its hard, but all the great ones rise up. And they don't do it immediately, it takes time.

I saw Grbac a couple of times at the bars in Baltimore, by himself, wasted. Poor guy and what a bust.

The quarterback curse was our fault. The Ravens were the only superbowl winning team in the history of the NFL to fire their quarterback, Grbac and Boller insued.

I trust in our coaches to teach Flacco how to mitigate those mistakes he made in crucial games this year. I think the coaches are maybe trying to make him do more than he can handle this early in his career. Last year he was fine with throwing the ball away rather than forcing it into quadruple coverage or making a bad endzone throw like in the GB game. The coaches will probably "tighten the reins" on Flacco and resort to more of a running offense these next few games, just to ease the pressure off Joe, especially since the next 4 teams do not have very good run defenses.

Look all this Troy vs.Joe stuff is going to go on until Joe steps up his game.I agree that Troy Smith supporters have a right to speak their mind, the same way Joe Flacco supporters, like me,speak ours.Right now though is not the time to take sides. There are still games to be played and no matter how slim,a playoff slot at stake.Remember Troy is just one shot away from having to come in,and I don't think any Ravens fan wants that.

I agree, how can you say Smith isn't a " NFL Caliber " Qb, he has done nothing to make that statement truthful. Looking at what he has done in his limited action as a Qb, I would think the opposite!

I will never bash Flacco, nor will I ever root for Troy to start. Joe has the support of the coaches, players and the majority of the fans. He has an awesome arm and a great demeanor. He's gotten pretty beat up this season as the O Line has not protected him enough IMO. He's smart and poised and should have a great game this sunday. I do hope we get him a big downfield receiver so he can show off that arm. Go Joe - Go Ravens

Maybe Steve Smith gets feed up in with Carolinia? Anyhow I agree he deserves better WR before anyone can really say much. I remeber we were close to winning a few games but lost due to drop passes (i.e Vs New England). I will continue to back Joe.
